The good: This vacation rental is on a quiet side street in Lava Hot Springs while everything remains in walking distance. The property is pet friendly (for a non-refundable fee), it has a semi-workable kitchen and some lush greenery around the yard. There is a small outdoor seating area with an outdoor fire place and a small BBQ grill. Satellite TV ensured the kids could be distracted. Decoration and painting inside show the owners care about the property. The bad: Everything was very small, the bedroom and living room felt very cramped. The kitchen was tiny. There is no room for the five this supposedly sleeps to sit down for a meal. We were told that we could not use the dishwasher or laundry even they were there. The gas stove was ancient and emitted a terrible stench of gas upon us using it. The fridge had someone else's food in it with some "respect ours" sign. There was a minuscule bedroom in addition to the main one with a twin bed that felt lumpy and old. All the sheets smelled really musty. Rugs inside were stained or coming apart. It was very hot when we came and while the bedroom was equipped with a ceiling fan the living room only had a half-broken window fan that due to the window not having a screen let a bunch of flies in. Several windows had no screens and couldn't be opened. Luckily we brought our own fan otherwise the heat would have been unbearable. Most windows had no secure latches. The bathroom looks to have been redone recently but the toilet was not properly screwed to the floor and moved around when sitting down on it. The ugly: When we arrived we were told that in the backyard of the property there would be some trailers were the owners and another girl would give massages by appointment. Just awesome, strangers giving complete strangers massages while we are staying? Not only that, at least one night someone stayed in the trailer out back while hiding from us. I do care about my safety and privacy so this not being mentioned anywhere on VRBO is completely unacceptable. Makes you wonder who comes and goes, and who has access to the property. Needless to say we spent as little time as possible at the house and took all valuables with us when we were not there. The VRBO site states that a variety of credit cards are accepted, turned out payment is cash only. We were considering going somewhere else later the first night but were refused any refund. Summary: Don't stay here, go somewhere else.

It was a wonderful weekend!!! The only complaint was that the couch in the living room was uncomfortable to sleep on. Everything else was great!!

the best place to go!!!
My family of five spent a night in this wonderful cabin. We will definitely be coming back!! We brought our small papillon with us as well and he enjoyed roaming the beautiful gardens and we used the small gas grill to bbq our dinner. The hot pools are fantastic and we were able to walk back and forth through town. We enjoyed ourselves very much and will definitely be coming back to Sweetwater!!! Our three children ages 6, 8 and 14 were well entertained in the gardens and yard, it is a beautiful house and we loved it!!

About: I am a big hot spring fan, and that is why I ended up in Lava Hot Springs... I am eager to share hot spring stories, secrets and adventures with others. I named the retreat Sweetwater ~ because I love the water so much...Enjoy!
Why Lava Hot Springs:
Now is the ideal time to come and stay and enjoy the waters! I love to soak... and found the hot springs in lava to have the Best water in the Northern Utah- Idaho, Montana area...no sulphur! for one - and folklore tales about the healing waters. lots of hiking trails, the river is beautiful and clear with hot pots here and there...you can tube the river or just find a hot pot... It's close to ski areas, and two hours from the Tetons and Yellowstone. I just Love the area.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The house is a log home built in the early 1900s, it looks rustic on the outside but has all the modern features on the inside, and nicely landscaped as well. There is skiing in the area , snowshoeing, cross country skiing, a zipline, 4 wheeling, fun shops in town good fishing, great soaking!, and you get to go 'home' to this lovely cabin, make a fire, cook dinner, watch a movie, or read , or just watch the fire and snuggle into bed and relax, renew, and feel regenerated for the coming day... It's a Retreat, a place of Peace to Renew ~
