Sky Valley Lodge is the perfect place for families who want to enjoy the San Bernardino mountains away from the hustle and bustle of Big Bear Lake. It is just a quick 7 mile drive to the ski resorts and the lake, but feels like a million miles from the noise, traffic, and frat-party atmosphere that can sometimes be a problem near the lake.
Ideal for large families or family groups, (maximum 6 adults, 8 children) the floor plan at Sky Valley Lodge provides areas with enough room for everyone to socialize without losing the warm cabin feel that you would expect from a mountain home. The master bedroom and bunk room do not share walls with the mini-master suite and guest rooms, providing more privacy and quiet for guests who stay here.

At first I was worried that being a few miles from town would be an inconvenience. But the price was right and the size of the house was perfect for our group (3 families with 5 kids between us). Our group has been going to Big Bear Lake for the past 10 years and I can honestly say, we will not be staying in another rental in/near the village or the slopes. Last time we were there, my parked car was hit by a drunk college student ripping down the street in a truck. I'm just thankful my kids and I weren't in it at the time. It was really nice being away from the tourist scene near the lake. It is an easy drive to get to the lake/village/slopes and it is nice to go back to the quiet neighborhood where Sky Valley Lodge is located at the end of the day. We really like how there is a lot of forest area around the house. Great for nature walks and playing in the snow. The house is huge but still feels warm and cozy. The kitchen is great if you are cooking for a crowd. It has every convenience of home. We are already looking forward to our next stay at Sky Valley Lodge. We're so glad we found it!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

There is only one reaction when you first drive up to this "little cabin": WHOA! It takes your breath away. Then you walk inside. First you see the bedrooms. Nice. Then you walk upstairs to the open living room, kitchen, dining room area. High ceilings. Spectacular views. The pool table and video game table (every video game you remember from your childhood) are a definite plus. We've been back several times. It's in a residential neighborhood so it's quiet (and the next door neighbor was helpful and has a couple of cute dogs). In winter, there is plenty of room to play in the snow and it's close enough to the slopes. In summer you won't believe the backyard, complete with creek that fills when it rains (we lucked out once). One really cool change the last time we were there is a new rock garden in the front. (We even added a few ourselves ;-) We enjoy sitting on the decks (front or back) in the morning for breakfast and in the evening before dinner. It is just so peaceful. We'll definitely be going back... we love this cabin!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

My family and friends stayed last winter, we were lucky to catch the first snow fall, it looked like a post card picture, with the cabin and trees covered in snow. this place is great for family, the adults hung out up stairs, what a great place to entertain, pool table, living room, dining and the kitchen all in one with a great view and a huge fire place, the kids had there own area down stairs, My wife loved the master bedroom, fire place and Jacuzzi tub, we usually visit big bear a few times every winter, we decided to go up in the summer, we live in riverside there was a heat wave going on down here, it was great up there, we hung out on the lake every day, it is nice to put work and every day bs behind to slow down the clock, have fun and make memories with family and friends.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

This "mountain cabin" was magnificent and far exceeded our expectations. It was immaculate and well appointed with quality furnishings that would be appropriate in any home not to mention very comfortable beds. The cabin was convenient to "downtown" Big Bear and various outdoor activities. We visited in the summer but, since we are not skiers, cannot comment on a winter stay although we did see the nearby ski run. We would most assuredly recommend this property to friends and our own sons and hope to revisit ourselves.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

Our family vacation was a huge success due in great part to the comfort and layout of this wonderful cabin. The cabin offers a Great Room fitted with pool table, game & dining tables, fireplace, loads of deep cushioned seating and a bar-stooled counter with room for all. The private bedrooms and lounge area on the lower level were perfectly suited for intimate conversation, reading or taking a snooze. The spacious layout and well- maintained accomodations of this cabin gave everyone from pre-teen to mid-sixties the room to fully relax and enjoy each other. The weather was mid 60-70 degrees during the day and cooler in the evenings. The sledding parks were running strong and only a short 10 minutes away. Gift shops and restaurants were plentiful and close as well. I recommend this cabin to everyone and look forward to another vacation at this cabin.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

Great place go get away and relax from the daily stress in LA. Really clean and comfortable. Kitchen was all ready and set up, TV and Internet worked flawlessly. Game tables were in an excellent condition. Everything was clean and spacy for our four people company to enjoy the short vacation. We will definitely comer back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with teenagers.

We have actually stayed at this "Cabin" during winter and summer. Calling it a cabin is an understatement! It is big and spacious--very comfortable and a lot of fun--plus, there is enough space that the kids can be completely somewhere else playing and not disturbing the adults!!! And the surprise when you get upstairs to the Great Room -- it is breathtaking. Plus a full kitchen [probably better than at your home--bigger than mine], comfortable furniture and beds, and a pool table. The location is convenient to Big Bear Lake as well as to skiing and the boat docks.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

Owner info
About the owner: My family and I have lots of wonderful memories from our gatherings at Sky Valley Lodge. The main reason I rent my cabin out is so that other families can enjoy the same happy times and create their own memories that will last a lifetime. There is something very special about being able to provide that for others.
Why the Owner Chose Big Bear City:
Surrounded by lots of open, woodsy space, kids have plenty of room to play in the snow at Sky Valley Lodge. You won't have to drive them anywhere to do that. The floor plan gives everyone their own space without compromising a warm cabin feel. It can comfortably accommodate 3 families.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Sky Valley Lodge is located in a residential area of Big Bear City. It is the only rental property on the street and located in a neighborhood that consists of mostly full-time residents. It is a great place to visit if you want to escape the noise of the city and enjoy time with your family.
