A Big Slice of Heaven.
A Big Slice of Heaven.
Follow flower and palm lined Wreck Road almost to the end and arrive at the pretty pink house Skylark. I am so pleased we could call it "home" for April Vacation. This house was perfect for our group, providing us space for two families and everything we could possible need for our week away. Tina, our host, took us to the grocery store for our first shopping trip. She continued to provide us with valuable information and advice during our stay. This site lists the many amenities and comfort items included in the vacation property but it does not convey the absolute beauty of the view from every room in the house and the yard. The pictures on the site almost captures the charm of every room decorated in authentic Bermudian style. Comfortable furniture and an open concept kitchen-dining area gave our group plenty of space. The young teens in our group were thrilled to have a video game system but the ocean activities were far more interesting. Just a short walk down the hill in either direction leads to the open ocean or quiet harbor. Every day we used the cement dock to relax, swim and snorkel the delicate coral reef just off shore. Sunscreen and water shoes are highly recommended for the tender skin and feet of New Englanders like us. On the harbor side there is a bit more protection from the sun. The grassy area is surrounded by palms and flowering trees. Tina was quick to point out the kayaks for our use. The dock area on Ely's Harbor, is a haven for sea turtles, we saw a few from the kayaks. It was difficult to leave Skylark but we did venture out on mopeds each day. Grocery stores are a quick ride in any direction and Tina told us about the wonderful organic farm for fresh veggies and more. Scooters really are necessary but even the first time riders in our group were able to navigate the island roads. Bermudian drivers are so patient and considerate of folks on scooters. You have nothing to fear. We ventured as far as Crystal Caves and John Smith Bay. Our group road to many of the island beaches like Horseshoe and Elbow beach. We also visited the Dockyard which is rich in history and has some cute shops. The nearby rail trail provides a quiet ride without cars but the speed bumps are tricky on scooters. The absolute favorite part of our vacation topping off each day with an evening dinner on the patio. The setting sun was always our reward for a fun-filled day in Bermuda. Thank you Skylark, we miss you already, Thank you Tina

This was a guys 40th trip. We'll definitley be back with our families. This cottage has magnificent views and is located in a very private setting. We rented scooters the whole time we were there and toured the entire island. We stopped to get groceries on our way back to cook a feast in the great kitchen, breakfast out back overlooking the ocean. The owners are very accomodating and a pleasure to rent from. The best beaches I've ever seen and I've been around... Two thumbs up!

Fun in the Sun!
Fun in the Sun!
Just returned from a 2 night stay at Sky Lark with my wife and 2 kids. The house had everything you could ever want and need for an island holiday, was well appointed and clean. Scott and Tina couldn't have been more helpful. Scott even cleared the view for us on Sat afternoon as it had grown substantially with the recent rains. We hosted an outdoor dinner party on Sat night and everyone enjoyed the lovely views. On Sat and Sun morning we enjoyed kayaking on the harbor side and saw tons of turtles. We highly recommend this rental!

Girls Getaway Weekend
Girls Getaway Weekend
I spent the weekend here with my six best girl friends and could not have had a better experience. The cottage is both cozy and perfect for entertaining. It has plenty of space for a group dinner or a romantic night watching the sunset from the back porch. Having use of the two docks also proved a great addition, giving us plenty of water access. The views are absolutely priceless and I simply cannot imagine a better way to enjoy such a wonderful island. Tina was also very available to make sure things went smoothly. The place had everything we needed for a great weekend with a grocery store for additional supplies at the end of the road, and plenty of fun restaurants and the like a bus or cab ride away. The whole gang has already decided they want it to be an annual thing - which I think is a pretty good sign! Many thanks Tina!!
