Welcome to the simplicity of our 4-season Northeast Kingdom cabin, complete with all the conveniences of new construction. The cabin sleeps up to 6, with several possible guest arrangements. It's well-suited for couples, families, women's weekends, writer's retreat and more. We're on 3 acres of wooded land, 300 yards back from the road, abutting the woods and trails of generous neighbors, who also manage the property.
The cabin has a main floor as well as a lower walkout basement level. The main floor includes a cozy great room with a pine vaulted ceiling and a well-equipped U-shaped kitchen, dining table and living space with futon/double bed. On this level is a small bedroom with antiques, as well as a full bath. Head down the spiral staircase to the lower level and a large sleeping/playing area with a double platform bed and a triple/trundle bunkbed. There's ample open space for child's play or yoga/exercise, as well as a bath with shower. There are large windows and outside access at this level. We're heated with propane, including a charming 'woodstove', and cooled by shade and ceiling fans. Enjoy many special architectural details.
For outside living, there is an entry porch with hammock and chairs, play yard, grill and picnic area with firepit. Walking/hiking/biking and snowshoeing start right outside our door. Very special country golf is right down the road. Savor the mountain views!
There's a land phone, intermittent cellphone reception (Okay if you have international roaming. We grab Canada), no cable, no internet, yes TV with DVD player. Simple. For those who need to be connected, there's wifi 2 miles away, outside the local Town Hall.
Moose tracks are common in our driveway and song birds love our woods. The views either way at the end of our driveway are gorgeous. And YOU MUST go enjoy the colors of the open sky while perched up on Sunset Rock!

Description accurate -- simple living with enough of the right comforts. Charming, unique and playful decorations. Photos accurate, though being there is better. Property spotless and in excellent shape. Owner helpful and easy communication. Would recommend it!!!! Want to go back there myself! We went kayaking and swimming in two of the many pristine small lakes nearby. The water was like velvet! And we drove around the hills, admiring the views. Lake Willoughby is quite dramatic. Took walks along the country roads. Sunsets were spectacular. Would have done more, but it was too lovely just to sit and relax.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: We are a pair of retired and partially retired public school teachers from Western Massachusetts. We built our post and beam home there and have a small farm with goats, pony and a mini-donkey. Both our adult children live in our town, and two wonderful grandkids visiting daily. We discovered the Kingdom back in 2005, when we bought and renovated a cordwood cabin down the road. We 'flipped it' but longed to be back on the mountain. We were so fortunate to meet the Cole family and purchase these 3 acres from them, adjoining their 1300 acre property. In the cold winter of 2010, Alan and Ed, built the frame for this cabin, following our design. By February that year, we started spending every other weekend and all school vacations, completing the insulation, electricity, plumbing, sheetrock, painting, landscaping and decorating. It's our hobby and we love the work...and the results. Most of the work is over now, so we too, can enjoy the Kingdom's riches!
Why the Owner Chose Westmore:
Owning a piece of the Kingdom means everything to us. It's a source of pride for us, having built most of it ourselves. But so much more than that, is the simplicity it now brings us, a chance to slow down, savor and reflect. It brings us closer to nature, to each other as a couple and to ourselves as individuals. It's a journey back to a less complicated, less noisy and less demanding time of life. The local people are kind and thoughtful. The pace slows down. And as one brochure says, 'The Northeast Kingdom is a place where you can do everything or do nothing.' We like having that choice. We can be gliding on a kayak, watching a sunset or screaming down a water slide. We can hike a mountain trail, watch ice climbing on Pisgah cliffs or gaze into our bonfire. It's all here.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Hmmm...unique features? Where do we start? The long driveway back into the woods and the silence of early morning. The moose tracks deep in the snow and the summer songbirds. The snowshoe path into the woods that leads you to the expansive hilltop country golf course and mountain views to the north and west. Inside it's the vaulted pine ceilings and salvaged Victorian windows on interior walls, exposing more light and pine. The craigslist finds like all the long windows and the spiral staircase. The glow of the 'woodstove' flames and swinging of the hammock. The simplicity and the quiet. Ah....
