Didn't have WATER for 24 hours!!!
Didn't have WATER for 24 hours!!!
While this place is nice and well equipped with hot tub, wood-burning stove and all kitchen equipment, we DIDN'T HAVE WATER FOR HALF OF OUR STAY! Apparently there was a problem with the pipes (which management blamed us for) and after using the bathroom once, we didn't have water for the next 24 hours. When the water was finally fixed, it was brown and murky and even after boiling it twice and using it for coffee, it gave us a terrible upset stomach. The management continually blamed us for the problem of NO WATER and refused to give us any portion of our money back. DO NOT STAY HERE unless you like going to the bathroom outside and going to town to buy your own water... which you will not be reimbursed for. Ruined our one-year anniversary trip and was a waste of money.

Owner response: The issue presented here is not what actually happened. Single digit temperatures and not running the furnace caused a water line to freeze. The issue was not reported until much later in the night just before you said your were planning to retire for the night. Our handyman was on site within an hour to check it out. He told you the furnace needed to be running rather than using the fireplace to keep only the living room warm. He said you were excited about the place and although he told you it was recommended you leave the property, you were willing to manage by picking up some water at the local grocery story to get you by until the line unfroze. The handyman checked the water lines the next morning upon your arising and there was plenty of adequate running water. In the course of many conversations there was never mention of brown water coming out of the lines. The handyman said all looked good. I'm not sure why brown water would have been used when a container of un-used water was left behind upon departure and a partial one was left in the refrigerator. A coupon was offered to you but our policy has always been to refund only when the facility becomes un-habitable and guest have to leave the premises. You were asked to leave but insisted upon staying even though you live only 20 miles away. The water may have been frozen overnight or it may have thawed out within a few hours. According to the handyman you didn't seem to be aware the water was on when he checked it in the morning. I realize you may not have much homeowner experience but the situation could have been avoided if you had allowed the furnace to run during the sudden dip in temperature.
The cabin was very cozy and comfortable. The large deck table worked perfect for our group. The views are spectacular.

Owner response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at our mountain cabin. Please plan to come back and enjoy the cabin during our Fall/Winter season.
We had a good time at the cabin. Everything was just perfect and we thought it was so cute. The view is spectacular and we enjoyed every minute. The privacy was an extra bonus. We had a lovely time and hope we will be able to come again. We have a really good memory of our time there and appreciate all the work put in to it to make it comfortable and the atmosphere so inviting. I have already told several people about this cabin.

About the owner: I've lived in Woodland Park, Colorado for about 16 years this time around. I've lived in various states throughout my life but have enjoyed Colorado the most. I truly love spending time at this mountain retreat.
Why the Owner Chose Divide:
Many of the small cabins in Colorado are being neglected and falling to ruin. I saw the potential in this cabin built in the 1930s and decided to spend time preserving it. But rather than keep this old jewel to myself I decided to share it with others. I think you will like what I have done with the old place with the help of many others.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The Peak View Cabin is close enough to everything and private enough that you may even hear a pine needle drop! The cabin has been dubbed the 'artist' retreat by many locals. The cabin is located adjacent to the Pike National Forest and offers you access to 1.5 million acres of the great Colorado outdoors. There’s a lot to experience here so let your energetic spirit take you on some adventures. We suggest hiking, mountain biking, dirt biking, and 4 wheeling, Local businesses can provide to you outdoor equipment or bring your own. Our workshop has ample room to store your bikes, skis, etc for shelter from the weather. Hunters can even find this cabin to be in a great location for their expeditions. Back at the cabin, enjoy your morning coffee or a meal on the deck with one of the best views of majestic Pikes Peak just outside the cabin doorway. For the animal lover there is plenty of bird watching, animal scouting, and photography opportunities. The property offers great cross country skiing, snow showing, tubing, or just relaxing and enjoying the quiet. If your are feeling more energetic take advantage of the basketball hoop, horseshoe pit, or the volleyball court. You can also take advantage of the many other nearby entertainment options and attractions in the area. Close by you'll find: •the world famous Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center, •the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, •the historical mountain towns of Cripple Creek & Victor, •great restaurants, •historical heritage museums, •local art galleries displaying the works of several world famous artists who live nearby, •shopping, casino gaming, and of course Pikes Peak.
