              • Located on the northern Hamakua Coast, the sacred Waipio Valley was the boyhood home of King Kamehameha I, and an important center for political and religious life in Hawaii. Not only is 'The Valley of the Kings' an important site for Hawaiian history and culture, it's also a place of dramatic tropical beauty. This fertile valley is about one mile across and over five-miles deep, and surrounded by cliffs up to 2000-feet high. Waipio Valley was once the home of thousands of Native Hawaiians. Today, there are less than 100 residents living amongst the waterfalls, taro fields and rivers permeating the valley. Hawaii Island's tallest waterfall, Hiilawe Falls cascades down 1,300 feet in the back of Waipio. You can view the valley from the coastal Waipio Valley Overlook at the end of the Hamakua Heritage Corridor drive, or you can take a guided van tour, hike, or horseback ride to explore the hidden wonders within. The setting and the views from this property are incomparable. The house is beautifully equipped and comfortable and was spotless when we arrived. Be careful with the garbage disposal!. It is prone to overloading. Otherwise a great stay.

December 31, 2012 Happy new year! My family and I had a great time here. The Ohana was very useful when we had family over. The beds are so comfy. The shower outside was amazing, it was so nice to have the view. The funny part is that we are two houses down from my uncle. This house is so nice. The hammock is awesome. February 10, 2013 Thank you this was the nicest and cleanest place we have ever stayed in. We are from Billings Mt. it's nice but we don't have a view like that where we live. it was breathtaking. We are all grateful and ready to come back next year. Thank you again and have a good year. Mark Perino, Reyer Family, and Barthalmow Family The view was unbelievable. We were so taken back by the view. It was great to watch the whales breach thanks

February 10, 2013 Thank you so much! It was such a beautiful stay - we were overwhelmed. We very much appreciate the cleanliness of the house and all of the fun little extras… Bananas, chocolates, etc. We hope to come back before too long and bring others. The lanai was very special. This eating out there so comfy – most of our time was spent there. We will miss the view dearly – it's unprecedented. With appreciation,

This beautiful home absolutely met all our expectations. Magical, magical views. It has been recently renovated so everything is new and clean with high quality finishes throughout. There was only my husband and myself staying so we got to use the master suite and outdoor shower. There is plenty of room for several couples or an extended family. Ron was very helpful and organised for someone to take us down into the valley for a tour. I had already been on the horseback riding in the valley which was awesome. The house is very difficult to find so make sure you get very detailed directions (unfortunately we didn't get any but eventually found our way there). The one thing that is lacking is a hot tub - which would be fabulous to sit in at night time and breath in the fresh night air and enjoy the views. Otherwise, OUTSTANDING, especially if you want to get away from all the hustle and bustle. On our first day we went to the market in town and bought all our meals to have in-house which I would recommend as something to do.

This house was amazing and absolutely beautiful. I have never seen such a beautiful view of Waipio....and to actually wake up to it was even better. We where able to see all the way from the valley and into the ocean. There where several beautiful rainbows throughout our stay at the home...one that went into the ocean then all the way to the valley. The inside of the home was gorgeous and we had everything we needed to make it a comfortable stay. The microwave wasn't working for us but that can be easily fixed...other than that the house is definitely worth the price and we loved everything about it. If the house is still available next year as a vacation rental we would love to rent it again for the weekend. Loved Loved Loved It !!!!

The house is in a remote and beautiful location just above Waipio Valley. It was a great design for us. My husband and I had the master bedroom all to ourselves on one side. Then there are 3 bedrooms across the house and a separate apartment downstairs with its own little kitchen. I am not a resort person so loved being here. We walked down and up to the valley and went horseback riding way into the back of the valley. We had camp on the other side of the valley over 30 years ago but never had been in the back. It is still untouched with a few farms there. It was ideal for us. The house had more amenities than any place I have ever rented; lots of toilet paper, soap, shampoo, conditioner, plenty of bath towels and beach towels, spices, salts etc. It is very isolated. You even drive passed the 4 wheel drive sign to get there. The closest town Honokaa is 8 miles but it is very old style and charming. I could never really figure out who the owner was. I had to call to get the lock box code just the day before I left. Then there were no instructions on where to find the lock box. I had assumed it would be on the door. Emails to the owner took a couple of days to be answered. We didn't know how to open the garage but didn't really need it. I had some problems at the end with the microwave and dishwasher and I contacted the owner but never heard back which is a little strange. However, this is a really special place and if you decide to rent it just be on top of getting the code, directions and any information you might want.

From the minute we drove up to the house we were in love. As you pull into the driveway you have a spectacular view of the waipio valley and it only gets better when you get into the house. The house is fantastic, nothing has been overlooked. The lanai is the place to relax, enjoy the view and listen to the surf, although you can do this from inside as well. The furnishings were first class. The master bedroom is huge, the bed was super comfortable, and the sliders to the lanai (with great outdoor shower) was perfect. The master also has a huge walk in closet and bath with jacuzzi tub. The main part of the house was very warm ,with dining, living and kitchen(fully stocked) all in one area - plenty of room. As there were only 2 of us we didn't even go into the other wing, but the rooms were all large and nicely appointed. Everything is new and I can't say enough about how nice this house is and how much we felt at home there. There is also a great in-law suite downstairs. Ron - the property manager, was available for our few questions. Thanks Ron! The town of honokaa has a nice grocery store, gas stations, restaurants, and shops to poke around in, about 10-15min. drive. Lastly, the biggest draw for this home is the valley itself. It is truly a sacred place. I never tired of looking at the view - you can see from all over the house. You can explore by walking down, or driving if you dare. If you have a chance, stay in this house, you'll be happy you did.

November 15, 2012 Wow! This is by far the nicest rental home we have ever stayed in, and oh! The view! We loved our breakfast on the lanai every morning. This was the best place to come "home to" after our adventures in the valley and throughout the island. We slept like rocks on the super comfortable bed listening to the sound of the surf and the rain. It was a treat to shower outdoors overlooking the valley. The quality and attention to detail was outstanding and we really appreciated all the amenities. Looking forward to coming back again. Thanks to Ron for helping us when we needed it. Mahalo! Stayed at this wonderful home with my Father, his friend, my sister, brother and my 10 month old. The house was well decorated, CLEAN, and had all of the amenities I would expect for a comfortable and unforgettable Hawaiian vacation experience. We all had our sense of private space within the house but spent most of our time together out on the Lanai enjoying the view. Your home was an excellent gateway down into Waipio Valley and we had a truly unique experience there - waterfalls, beaches, lush jungles, horses, exotic fruit and flower trees and only a five minute drive from the house. This was the real Hawaii that my family was looking for. A private tropical experience, breathtaking ocean views, yet still conveniently located close to town and a short drive from the major towns and resorts. Thank you!
