Welcome to Wailua Riverside Tree Top Cottage! This is a perfect place to experience the real Kauai - in a residential setting at the Wailua River. Wailua Riverside is a tree top cottage, newly furnished Hawaiiana style, fully equipped kitchen, master bedroom with queen bed, den with sofa sleeper a full size bed and the covered lanai offering outdoor dining.
***Trip Advisor***: "We just returned from five days at Wailua Riverside Hideaway... also known as... Kauai Calls! Set Your Heart Free... It is a delightful four room efficiency on the Wailua river, on the east coast of Kauai. Full kitchen, fantastic elevated covered lanai with enough room for 4 adults to dine. The place was squeeky clean, bright and airy to take advantage of the trades. Quiet, secluded and private, the lovely vacation rental has it's own carport, access to full size washer and dryer, and something you seldom see, a modern efficient air conditioner (but with the trades, you don't need it). You can even watch satelite TV if you just "can't let it go". There is a great collection of DVDs and VHS movies... and lots of books. Candace has provided every type of recreation equipment you might need for the beach or the river, including a two place Ocean Kayak, paddles and PFDs, and a small dock to launch right on the tranquil river. Everything is nearby and yet you hear nothing at night but an occasional gecko, rooster, or the soft soothing music of the distant waves in Wailua Bay. Lydgate park is less than five minutes and is the perfect place to introduce the ocean to your children. Calm, protected, warm waters with full lifeguard service, facilities and plenty of parking. A great place to walk or run in the mornings or evenings. Candace is a gracious hostess who allows you to be you. You have a completely private entrance, and yet she is available if you need her. She is the perfect kind of person to host such a place. She knows the island inside and out, real estate, culture, touristy stuff, and the best places to go. She is a transplanted kama aina who loves what she does. What a fantastic find after a couple horror stories on Kauai and other islands. My only concern is that too many other folks will discover this place and it will be hard to schedule. We are going back next year. Period. It is wonderful! Period."
Located at the Sacred Wailua River, where only the ancient Hawaiian Royalty were allowed to visit, Wailua Riverside is a two minute walk to an awesome eight-mile shoreline of uncrowded, sandy beaches. You are steps from a dock where you can launch your own Kayak onto the Wailua River to explore and hike to Secret Waterfalls, which has a natural swimming hole at its base. Water skiing, Wakeboarding, Speed Boating are also available from the same dock!

From the guest book: October 11 to 18, 2009 Aloha Candace! We really enjoyed our time here and all the awesome stuff you let us use made it even better. We made a few snorkeling trips to Lydgate Beach and saw a lot of fish. Every time we looked at each other with our snorkels on, we busted out laughing so we still have to get the hang of it, but is was a lot of fun. We kayaked to Secret Falls the day after our 10 mile hike. Not sure if that was the best idea, but both trips were definitely worth it. Thank you for your hospitality. We both feel our honeymoon was pretty much perfect. Mahalo,

From the Guestbook: October 5 to 11, 2009 Dear Candace, You have the perfect spot here - we could see the early light from the east, as we woke up and the view of the river was so nice. Kayaking was the best - we'd never tried it and we're hooked. The Fern Grotto has changed since the last time was here (35+ years ago for a wedding) but it's still a charming place to see. We definitely enjoyed driving to the most NW and North from the east - it's so picturesque. A big thanks for the use of all the play toys - kayak, snorkel, mats, beach twoels, etc. - we were able to pack very light due to all the extras you have available here. Mahalo,

The Wailua Riverside Hideaway definitely overachieved our high expectations! This home-away-from-home is exceptionally lovely: soft & inviting from the tasteful decorating hues down to the towels and toilet paper! We enjoyed breakfasting on the rooftop deck amidst opical greenery and melodic birdsongs. The Wailua River - right across the cul-de-sac turnaround - invited us to delightful kayak adventures. We felt like stars in a jungle movie lazily paddling through the lush beautiful foliage. We kayaked and hiked to Secret Falls (with a quick refreshing dip in the pool!), the Fern Grotto, and explored upstream 'til it got too strong to paddle against. Other favorite activities, so far: . North island hike on Kalalau Trail to Hanakapi'ai Falls: beautiful, fun and challenging 8 miles. . Caffe Coco in nearby Kapa'a - dinner in a grove with good music & food; laid-back, BYOB. . Nearby hike on Kuamoa-Nounou Trail, a few miles to the top of Sleeping Giant for a great view. . West island hike on Alakai Swamp Trail to Kilohana Vista: incredible views, unusual botanical environment, challenging, rather muddy, 10-miles. . Waimea Canyon is beautiful! . Snorkeling and swimming - Poipu area beaches are good this time of year; a sea turtle swam right up to me! Candace, your place is wonderful, as you are, you're so friendly and thoughtful!

Candace, Candace, Candace With all the beauty, nature and energy contained within the shores of Kauai, it cannot compare to you. We thank you for everything. From the moment we departed the plane our eyes were transfixed on the beautiful landscape. While we were distracted and mesmerised, our wallets were being sucked dry. Then, we stumbled upon your doorstep and you removed the vacuum. Thanks for caring about us. We moved around the island for 1 1/2 weeks before we arrived here and we finally go lei'd WOHOO ! "The Hideaway" In Kauai, There's this little hideaway; It's so lovely That it makes you want to stay. Up amongst the trees, It feels like the perfect place' Cool night breeze Life lived at an island pace.
