Kaweah Redwood Villa and Gardens
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
A custom redwood home inside and out on two acres of land. The property is fully developed and maintained as a garden with it's own private riverside beach. Many trees provide a shaded park like setting. A year-round regulated water flow provides a steady flow of water right next to the house. The Middle Fork of the Kaweah River flows through the property just 100 yards from the house and is visible through the trees in the garden. The river can run quite swift during the spring runoff from April through June but becomes quite nice for swimming later in the summer when water temperatures rise into the mid 70's. A large effort has been expended during the spring and summer of 2012 preparing this home as a vacation rental. Optimum for 4 people. Wir sprechen Deutsch.

We had a wonderful time here! This was a last minute trip for us and it was the best decision we made. The house was very comfortable and we felt completely at home here. Be sure to walk down a couple hundred yards to a sandy beach and a great swimming hole. Our kids played for hours there! We will definitely be back!! I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay at, on our first of many trips to come to the Sequoias. Despite we weren't able to enjoy all that the national park had to offer, due to weather, this cozy villa made up for it. It truly did. It's a happy medium. Not too big and modern yet updated with new appliances without losing it's cabin charm. Don't let the futon on the den fool you. It's quite comfy. It has both heating and ac systems and a gas fire place. The location is spot on what we were looking for. Close to the park and conveniences (restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, gift shops, etc.), yet private enough to stay away from the touring traffic. But what really makes this place is the gardens and it's clean and interesting paths towards the Kaweah River. We were able to enjoy the view of the gardens, from the living room and dining room, through its large windows. Open the door and/ or windows and you can hear the tranquil river running. We chose to enjoy our homeade meals out in the upper deck. It's so easy to forget about civilization, however, if it's a must with your lifestyle, it has Wi-Fi throughout the house and a TV with both DVD and VHS players. If weather permits, there are "beaches" up the road to enjoy bathing in the river better. We're definitely coming back! Cant's wait!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.
Owner response: There always has to be the first weather event each fall and you were here to experience it. Almost an inch of rain fell in 24 hours after nearly 6 months without rain. Fall is some of the nicest weather all year in Three Rivers with daytime highs in the 70's and 80's and cooler nights. Glad to know you had a great vacation despite the weather!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1950
About the owner: I am the grandson of the original property owner. My grandmother purchased the property and the garden was developed many years before the house was added. The garden is much the same as it was in the 50's except those little trees are now quite large. I am a kayaker on the Kaweah River since 1985 and author of The Kaweah River Page on the internet.
Why the Owner Chose Three Rivers:
This property has been in our family since 1950. The home was built in 1965 and is custom throughout. The architect was Robert F. Street of Aberdeen, WA. The property and home are a family treasure. The love of the fabulous Kaweah River can not be understated.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Home constructed of clear redwood inside and out located on a quiet private drive Year round water flows through the property adjacent the house at up to 500 gallons per second during spring and early summer. Numerous decks on all sides. The property has a well maintained garden with walking paths throughout. The sound of tumbling water is audible from inside the house. Quantities of sand in the garden lead to a large sandy beach area on the bank of the river. The property is considered by many as the premier riverfront property in all of the Three Rivers community.
