The place for those who truly want to “get away from it all” in a secluded island paradise….the Casa Bonita guest cottage is the answer to your dreams.
Located on the far eastern end of Port Royal, on a beautiful tropical estate with over 300 feet of waterfront, this cottage is an enchanting gem, 50 feet from the water’s edge with a private dock and over-the-water palapa. The cottage and main house are surrounded by acres of lush, tropical vegetation. It is perfect for those who want to enjoy nature in a delightful Caribbean setting in peace and quiet, serenity and seclusion. It is off-grid, off-road and in a remote area ensuring privacy in this piece of Paradise.
The cottage has one bedroom (queen bed) and one bathroom. There are 2 sofa beds in the living room, so a total of 4 people may be accommodated. There are ceiling fans in all rooms and on the patio.
The open plan living area and kitchen provide space and comfort. The covered patio on 3 sides offers a spectacular view of the dazzling blue Caribbean in front and tropical vegetation alongside.
Swim, snorkel, fish or kayak from the private dock or ‘chill out’ on the comfy loungers in the palapa over the water. The palapa is open-sided and furnished with loungers and a bar. Enjoy your cocktails each evening watching the sun go down.
The fishing and scuba diving are supreme at this end of Roatan. Both these activities can be arranged with nearby dive and fishing operations, with prior notice. Other excursions such as mangrove boat tours, sundowner cruises or a sail boat charter may also be arranged with local providers, also with prior notice. Enjoy the luxury of being collected from your dock!
Included in the rental is the use of the skiff and a boatman once a day to take you snorkeling at a selection of wonderful reefs within Port Royal, just minutes away.
Enjoy the many birds either from the comfort of the patio or roam the property; you’ll see woodpeckers, humming birds, herons, doves, pelicans and grackles to name but a few. Even wild parrots come visiting on occasion. The nature enthusiasts will also love the hermit crabs, land crabs, geckos, agouti’s, iguanas and lizards.
The property is solar powered with generator back up. The generator is located on the far side of the property and not intrusive.
The property is remote with no road access…. only boat access; either a scenic 25 minute boat ride from the town of Oak Ridge (parking, taxis, BJ’s Bar and small shops) or a 5 minute ride from a neighbouring dock in Port Royal (20 minutes beyond Oak Ridge by road). Oak Ridge is about 35 minutes by road from the airport and 20 minutes by road from French Harbour (the closest supermarket).
Transportation to and from the airport is included at no cost for stays longer than 3 days. We will arrange to collect you and then stop at the stores on the way, in order for you to stock up on the food, beverages, alcohol, groceries and other supplies you require for the duration of your stay. This is important as there are no shops close to the property. For shorter stays, the taxi cost between the airport and Oak Ridge is extra. The boat is boarded at BJ's Bar in Oak Ridge for the trip to Port Royal.
During the course of your stay, depending on the weather, boat transportation to and from Oak Ridge in daylight hours can be arranged. A charge of $30 per round trip is required to cover costs. Boat transport to and from the closest dock in Port Royal can be arranged at no extra cost.
Included, at no additional charge, are 3 single seater kayaks, a selection of snorkel gear, drinking water, limited wireless internet, reading library and 24 hour security.
Another bonus is that you may share the wonderful fruits in season from all the trees and plants flourishing around the property…. coconuts, mangos, papayas, bananas, plantains, limes, avocados, guavas and pineapples. Just ask the managers what is available.
The property managers stay in the big house on the other side of the property. There is a watchman living permanently on the property.

About the owner: The owner and his wife first discovered Port Royal in 1992 and designed and built their dream mansion in paradise where they lived full time for 16 years. Nowadays they stay in Port Royal several months a year. The guest cottage with its own dock was built in 2007.
