Deeded lake access 5 minute walk across the street. Conservation area, with community gardens and trails also across the street. 10 private ocean beaches with free access rights, a short 5-15 minute drive. Five additional lakes nearby with our resident access pass. Breathtaking National Seashore further down the Cape. Basic shopping in Marstons Mills mini-mall; broader range of stores in both the unique Mashpee Commons (west on Route 28) or in the greater Hyannis area (east on 28). Golf available at 3 sites near the house, and at others short distance away. There is a surprisingly pleasant Glass Museum, of all things, in nearby Sandwich, if you are so inclined. Sandwich also has great restaurants, as does Mashpee Commons.

About: We purchased this property in order to have a respite from work in Boston by spending weekends and summers here with our children. There are so many things to do and yet the environment is conducive to relaxing and enjoying family and friends. The seafood offerings are incredible, the ice cream is delicious and the exploring is almost endless. This home has served our purposes well, as our now grown son and daughter recall fondly the pond, the natural surroundings and the relaxed state of mind we were all put under as we crossed the Sagamore Bridge onto the Cape. Our plan is to eventually retire here, and enjoy the special environment of the Cape with another generation of the family.
Why Barnstable: The advertisement at the time, read '2 Acre Mini-Farm.' The original owner, who built parts of the interior with old barn board from the original property, and dragged large stones with his children from the Fathmouth Beach to build the chimney, had chickens, rabbits, a pig and a large garden on the property. This section of the Cape was originally farms, and people would mill their grain at Marston's Mill! There is still active cranberry cultivation, and can be witnessed best in the fall of the year. So, while our home is situated in a tranquil secluded spot, it is also close to all amenities one could ever want.
