Beautiful Vacation Home
Beautiful Vacation Home
A group of us rented this home for a few nights so we could attend our boy's baseball tournament in the next town over. We all agreed that it was a beautiful home & if we had a Tourney that way again we would try to rent this house. Had everything we needed. Washer/Dryer worked great. Kitchen was AWESOME! Plenty of space for everyone to sleep. The yard was huge & tons of room for the kids to run & play & burn off steam (not that they had much left!). Great deck off the back of the house. Very clean. We unfortunately caught a weekend of rain, therefore we didn't get to see the pond nearby. The neighborhood was nice & quiet. Personally, the only downfall was that there was no A/C. It got pretty damp with the rain & the heat. Otherwise, we have no complaints. The owners were very informative & gracious. Thanks for a great time - hopefully we'll be back that way & can stay again! =)

Year Purchased: 1982
About: We purchased this property in order to have a respite from work in Boston by spending weekends and summers here with our children. There are so many things to do and yet the environment is conducive to relaxing and enjoying family and friends. The seafood offerings are incredible, the ice cream is delicious and the exploring is almost endless. This home has served our purposes well, as our now grown son and daughter recall fondly the pond, the natural surroundings and the relaxed state of mind we were all put under as we crossed the Sagamore Bridge onto the Cape. Our plan is to eventually retire here, and enjoy the special environment of the Cape with another generation of the family.
The advertisement at the time, read '2 Acre Mini-Farm.' The original owner, who built parts of the interior with old barn board from the original property, and dragged large stones with his children from the Fathmouth Beach to build the chimney, had chickens, rabbits, a pig and a large garden on the property. This section of the Cape was originally farms, and people would mill their grain at Marston's Mill! There is still active cranberry cultivation, and can be witnessed best in the fall of the year. So, while our home is situated in a tranquil secluded spot, it is also close to all amenities one could ever want.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Private lake and beach access in a prime Cape Cod locale. Unusually large acerage for the Cape. A pleasant layout both inside and out for entertaining family and friends. Proximilty to conservation area is great for walking.
