We just returned from a two night stay at this house and enjoyed it thoroughly. We found it extremely clean and extremely functional with a terrific porch and a great professional-quality kitchen that facilitated our making some pretty darned good meals. The photos of the property are quite representative of what we actually found when we arrived. The two first floor bedrooms range from large to very large and have very comfortable beds that led us to sleep later than expected. The upstairs bedroom housed four teens pretty comfortably. The bathrooms are lovely and there is a very functional mudroom that can house immense quantities of groceries in extra refrigerator/freezers and/or permit you to do laundry. The house is thoroughly decorated in a manner that clearly reflects the tastes of its owner and a lot of antique shopping over the years. The grounds are large, making the property private and quiet even in winter when the trees are bare. The Internet works very well. The location is excellent. Far enough from I-45 not to hear freeway noise but close enough to get to the Fairfield grocery store quickly on paved roads and to make the trip an easy one from Houston or Dallas. Only two minuses we can really think of: (1) some of the decorating may not be to everyone's taste and (2) a feature of the kitchen is that the stove and countertops are considerably higher than "American standard," which creates incredible storage space but can make matters a little difficult for people of below average height or someone with a disability.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
