Secluded Mountain Getaway on 16 Acres Near Brevard, Nc
Year Purchased: 2003
Why the Owner Chose Brevard
This home was built by my uncle who raised his family here. I always loved this home so much that when my uncle needed to move in 2003, my father and I decided to purchase it from him. My extended family has owned property on this mountain since the 1930's when my great-grandmother first purchased property here.
The Unique Benefits at this House
I enjoy the quiet and stillness that surrounds this home. Listening to the wind blowing through the pine trees and looking out for deer in the pasture are a couple of my favorite things. I also enjoy having my family over for bonfires and birthday parties. We even had a family wedding here once. It is such a great home to gather at with friends and family!
My other favorite activity is hiking to waterfalls. There are so many to hike to within a very short drive. DuPont State forest is only a 7 minute drive away!!! It's a great place to hike and swim and be awestruck.
The most visited Forest in the State, DuPont offers great trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding. People come from all over to see the many waterfalls, like High Falls and Triple Falls.
Recreation central for outdoors enthusiasts! Hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing, waterfalls, sliding rock, swimming.... Pisgah has it all! Only 15 minutes from Meadowside to Pisgah!
Downtown Brevard, just 10 minutes from Meadowside. Quaint shops, restaurants, groceries, movie theater... all the amenities are here.
Full of large, hatchery stocked trout, the East Fork has easy access and is a popular local stream. Crystal clear water!
The Davidson River is ranked as one of Trout Unlimited's top 100 trout streams in North America and is our "home water". Located in North Transylvania the stream is a fly fisherman's dream. Large pool

I love estate sale shopping where I live in DC, as you will see when you stay at Meadowside. It is filled with oriental rugs, antiques and artwork that I have collected over the years. There are literally items from all over the world.

Our week in Brevard at Meadowside had to be one of if not the best vacations our family has had. The owners kindly opened their home not only to the four of us, but also entrusted us to bring our three dogs and these are not just the average size pups, but instead 3 big Great Danes affording us the opportunity to truly all be together as a family doing what we love best enjoying the outdoors, each other and our pups. We awoke each day to a home cooked breakfast, then headed out for a day of hiking in the Pisgah National Forest including dips in the waterfalls, then shopping at the local fruit stand and grocery stores on route back to Meadowside for dinner, a freshly baked pie and an evening relaxing together. Meadowside had every comfort of home, could not have been cleaner or more inviting and our only regret was seeing the week come to an end. I hope others will take the opportunity to stay here and we only hope the house will be available the next time our vacation comes along.

Meadowside is a great place for a large group wanting to spend a weekend in the mountains. Location is ideal between Pisgah and Dupont Forests and minutes from downtown Brevard. We thoroughly enjoyed our Easter weekend at Meadowside and spent most afternoons on the large front porch or in the covered "pickin' porch." Meadowside is very pet friendly with a fenced in backyard and plenty of room for the dogs to roam on the property without concern for passing cars due to secluded location. We will definitely return to Meadowside in the future as the property met our needs superbly.

Meadowside is a relaxing, comfortable get-away. Up on the mountain you get away from the crowds and can enjoy clear mountain air, peace and tranquility. All the comforts of home - but not the work! Close to beautiful hiking, waterfalls and delicious dining! We've been going to Meadowside for several years an will always go back!

We thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing week last summer at this home. The owners were wonderful hosts. The home has several thoughtful touches that made us feel welcome. We will definitely stay here next time we are visiting the Brevard area.
