My wife and I stayed at this property for two nights at the end of our honeymoon tour of the desert and High Sierras. The property is located in the fairly remote town of Badger, about 12 miles from the entrance to Kings Canyon. We used this cabin as a basecamp to explore Kings Canyon, Sequoia National Forest and Sequoia National Parks. When we arrived, we were greeted by Torsten, the property manager, who had just finished preparing the studio for our stay. He brought candles (knowing it was our honeymoon) and stocked the cabin with board games. The property is large and provides ample opportunity to roam and enjoy the lake, flora, trees and animals. Early November provided for warm days and cold nights and Torsten ensured we had adequate firewood to heat the cabin. The wood burning stove kept the cabin warm and we found the property extremely clean and well furnished. There is no cell phone reception except for Verizon subscribers, so I highly recommend paying for the optional telephone and data service, although we didn't really need it. The european kitchen is basic, but very functional and we prepared meals each night. The drive to the property is breathtaking and not for the faint of heart, as are most roadways in and around the parks. Be sure to check out the Pinehurst Lodge (which does have a small store) for an authentic local experience. It's just a short drive up the road. We were very well prepared for our stay and brought all necessary provisions and managed our fuel. If you've never been to this part of California before, know that the parks are BIG, the roads are exposed, and distances between towns can be far. Rent our buy tire chains (especially in fall/winter), top-off your fuel tanks, and take your time. Will be a rewarding trip! Our only regret was that we could not stay longer. Very quiet, romantic and charming. We are looking forward to coming back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
