Year Purchased: 1976
About the owner: My grandparents purchased this property in 1976 when I was a young child and it has been a part of our family ever since. I live in San Francisco and myself and other family members spend a few weeks a year re-balancing at our family home. We think of our home as a great escape and revel in the peace and quiet of nature when we are there. It is a country home in the woods.
Why the Owner Chose Bandon: My family and I have spent the past few years upgrading all of the systems for both the main house and the cottage and making it what we want it to be. Clean and efficient. Every year we do a bit more but we are where we are today and I think once you settle in it's nice and comfy. There are two beds, a couch and if you bring your own airbeds you can always have more, the living room is nice and large. It is typically 10-15 degrees warmer at our house than in town. Summers are incredible and winters are muddy. We are a great landing place or jump off spot for all your local outdoor activities. It's always good to know you have a place that feels like home to come back to.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: I love the wild blackberries, salmon berries, apples and mushrooms I can pick on my property. I love watching the many different birds that visit us and listening to the quietness of the wind. In the winter I like to listen to the storms and build big blazing fires and tromp through the woods. I enjoy cooking and baking and relaxing at my home. I like to hear the far away sound of the ocean waves crashing on the shore that's only a mile and a half away and watching the zillions of stars at night. I like to breathe in the fresh Oregon air and explore the areas seeing waterfalls, rivers, fishing, crabbing , and the quaintness of Old Town Bandon.
