The Quarry House at Light Heart Retreat, is located on a one-hundred acre, wooded estate with a west view to Taunton Bay. This roomy, and rustic cottage overlooks a granite quarry where you can swim, canoe, and fish.
Walking-trails take you through old growth forests, and to Bragdon Quarry, where eagles and osprey roost. Have your morning coffee in the screened-gazebo nestled along the edge of the quarry. Toast the sunset from the standing stone circle. Watch the stars come out from a firepit on the point, no light pollution!
A stay at the Quarry House at Light Heart Retreat, offers much more than the usual vacation rental or B&B. The Light Heart Kitchen offers up a menu of traditional New England foods, along with international flavors. Foods are prepared in advance for you to heat and serve. A complimentary sweet bread awaits your arrival.
"Light Heart Healing" sessions are available at an on-site office. The Quarry House library is stocked with books, cassettes, videos and DVD's on holistic health and spirituality. Feed your body, mind and soul at this serene oasis.
A stay at the Quarry House makes for a great family and friends vacation, as well as a retreat. The quarry tapers gently, allowing a safe place for little children to enter the water. Fishing is fun and easy for beginners, and poles are provided. Families enjoy the canoe (life jackets provided), and children love the freedom the expanse of lawn offers. Little bikers have a safe place to pedal, too. There are plenty of toys and games for a variety of ages.
Light Heart Retreat is at the end of a dirt road, just two miles off Route One, though it seems like you are many miles from civilization. Day trips are easily made to Campabello Island, Downeast, Blue Hill Peninsula, Bar Harbor and Acadia Park, and Camden/Rockland.
There are many local galleries, antique dealers and artisans, offering up their crafts. There's always a festival or fair happening somewhere nearby. You can even hear chamber music on Wednesday afternoons and Sunday evenings, at the Pierre Montieux School right here in Sullivan.
