The cottage is situated on the Dingle Peninsula, in between Castlemaine and Inch. Dingle itself, a great town to visit, is about 30 minutes drive from the cottage. There is so much to see and do in Kerry, we felt a week wasn't long enough. Most of our days were spent walking in the countryside. Muckross House, Derrynane House and their grounds were just two highlights. The scenery is breathtaking, as are the inclines to the tops of the mountains! The cottage itself is beautiful. Lovingly looked after and very comfortable, it was an ideal holiday home for our daily excursions. It is very spacious place and fully equipped. The owners, Nick and Anne, were great hosts and were on hand when needed. We have great memories and would definitely consider returning.

Wonderful stay at the River Cottage! Our first trip to Ireland couldn't have been better! Dingle, Kayaking with Fungi (the Dolphin), Horseback Riding and the breathtaking Killarney National Park. Chilly and rainy most days but that's Ireland, right? That's also why we loved the open fireplace! Your whole family, to include all the animals are delightful. Thanks you for the warm welcome.

Also, besser genug Zeit mitbringen.

Owner response: Holger and Jaly were such understanding people since it was February and the boiler broke down!! In these unforeseen circumstances, all you can do is try and sort out the problem as soon as possible (which we did) and give something back to the guests, so that it didn't affect their holiday. We're so glad that Holger and Jaly were able to get the most out of their week in this most beautiful part of Europe.

Nick and Anne were terrific hosts, the cottage was perfect, and the Dingle Peninsula was more beautiful than I could have expected. Nick provided driving directions from Dublin for me and promised to be by his cell phone if I had any trouble. Highlights of the cottage were the wood burning stove, the easy to use laundry machine, and Nick's sheep in the field next to the cottage. I had a great few days staying their by myself, but it also is a great set-up for families with the second bedroom, a collection of boardgames, and all the different pets. I'm glad I chose to stay at Nick and Anne's cottage instead of in Dingle Town. It was a quieter more suburban setting with an easy and breathtaking drive into Dingle. Despite its remoteness - fuel and groceries and bars were all quite convenient. I can't recommend River Cottage enough.

Thank you so much for giving the possibility to spend our holidays in the lovely River Cottage here on the Dingle Peninsula. We had amazing days exploring the wonderful landscape. Fortunately, we had all varieties of weather and we could start in rain and 5 minutes later we would have great sunshine. And we were always glad to come back to the cottage in the evening. Our girls loved you dog, the donkeys, the cats and the sheep. In the evenings, we sat in front of the fire, read books and just enjoyed. Thank you very much, again

Our first holiday in Ireland in which we have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beautiful coast and countryside. We have packed a lot into our 2 weeks here and some favourite spots would be: - Slea Head scenic route - Muckross House and grounds and drive up to Ladies View - Walking through the Gap of Dunloe - Inch, Brandon Bay, & Castlegregory beaches - Killarney town (good pubs with music) - Ring of Kerry (but long way to drive in 1 day) Thanks also to Nick & Anne for the well equipped cottage and for being good hosts. We loved the Gaelic Football match at Keel. We hope to return to Ireland for another holiday in the not-too-distant future

We had a wonderful stay at River Cottage. It was everything one could hope for in a holiday house, a home from home for a week.Thank you Nick and Anne and family for letting us share your beautiful spot in Kerry. Our boys, 4 and 6 absolutely loved the animals, running abit wild and the lego and dvds when they had worn themselves out! It is a great location halfway to Dingle and Killarney for exploring beaches, Slea Head and Muckross House & traditional farms in Killarney. So many highlights, we could easily have stayed another week! Go raibh mile maith agaibh

Owner response: Thanks for your kind comments. We've had a lot of experience over the years trying to travel and stay in 'strange' places ourselves with lots of children in tow whilst keeping them amused and there's no doubt that a large collection of pet animals, a stream to get wet and muddy in, a safe and large expanse of grounds, a box of lego and some Disney movies is not bad for starters !! Wer'e only glad that some of these were appreciated by you all. We'd love to have you come and stay again.

We had a lovely time in River cottage. We were there for one week with 2 small children and the setup is ideal! They thoroughly enjoyed the animals and we were able to relax when they were outside as it is a totally safe environment. Nick and Anne are extremely helpful and well organised and the girls very welcoming. Being exactly 10 minutes drive from Inch beach, we were there every day - ate at Sammy´s a few times, built many sand castles, went for long walks etc. The cottage is also a good base for Dingle, Annascaul and we took the scenic route to Camp a few times which I highly recommend. This accommodation works very well for a family and for exploring Kerry. And even though it was August, we did enjoy a few log fires in the comfy sitting room at night.

We stayed in River Cottage for one week. Everything was just perfect. Preparation, Information, Interieur and Equipment... The hosts Nick and Anne gave us a warm welcome and provided us with very useful information about the region. They ware incredible nice and patient with our active children and showed them around the little farm with sheep, donkeys, chicken, cats and the lovely dog Yala. We enjoyed every hour of our stay and hope to come back soon.

Owner response: Thank You for your kind comments. We always try and be here to welcome our guests and introduce everyone to the animals and the land around the cottage. After that, if guests need or want help, advice or just chat - we provide it! If they don't, we try and stay out of the way and allow people to simply enjoy their family holiday. This is a great safe place for families to just chill out. Nick

This was our 2nd trip to Ireland. It was better than the first because we stayed in your wonderful River Cottage! It was even better than we expected! You were such wonderful hosts and we really enjoyed chatting about your world travels and hearing about the work done to the cottage and farm. We loved our nightly fires in the cozy living room. The girls loved playing with the kittens and visiting the donkeys, sheep, chickens, dog and cat daily. We really enjoyed the beautiful gardens every morning from the fantastic kitchen. We also loved the location - close to Inch Beach and Dingle but central enough to do day trips to Tralee, Killarney, Killorglin and the Ring of Kerry. We also trekked up the mountain out back. We can't say enough good things about our stay with you!

We stayed in this beautiful River Cottage with all these beautiful and interesting things in it - we also watched two of the films from the DVD library. The kitchen is Amazing! Thanks to all the animals and your whole lovely family, especially Esther for showing us the animals and for telling us something about her school and her life in Ireland. If you come to Hamburg, please call us. All the best wishes for the future.

River Cottage is lovely!! Well restored, yet updated with all the modern conveniences. It is very well appointed and is spacious as well..... And that is only the architecture. Nick and Anne could not have been more accommodating. Nick always responded promptly when I emailed prior to our arrival. And, when we missed our flight, he responded to my rather anxious communication with calming words. And they were always there to answer any of our questions. The cottage is located in a traditional small town on the Dingle Peninsula. We felt like one of the locals by the end of the week! It is most welcoming and is well located for trips to Dingletown and Killarney. Needless to say, we are planning a trip back next year.

Owner response: The River Cottage location is indeed one of its many strengths. It is set amongst 4 acres on the Dingle Peninsula , with views of the sea and yet is only 2 mins from the local shop, 10 mins from the local pub and within 30 mins. of both Killarney and Dingle Towns - the two most popular destinations in Kerry. Being 150 yrs old, River Cottage is one of the oldest cottages around and has been lovingly restored over the past ten years. It retains the charm of a traditional small Irish stone farmhouse - Thankfully!

We had a wonderful stay at River Cottage this week. We love the old stone traditional cottages! We would like to thank you for your kind help and advice over the week. Our holiday experience was exciting, educational and relaxing. Thanks for everything.
