This little house with the perfect place for my husband and I along with another couple we traveling with throughout Costa Rica. It was right in the center of a very authentic neighborhood in Jaco which provided us with a good feeling for how the Ticos live. One neighbor even helped us open a coconut with his machete. We made friends with the baker next door and a restaurant owner down the street. We enjoyed many baked goods and also purchased a chicken cooked over an open flame of coffee wood. Melva and her sister were extremely helpful in arranging some day activities for us which included a hike nearby where we saw many birds and lots of monkeys. We also spent some time ATVing to a waterfall which was fun also. This location is great because of its close vicinity to the city center and you can walk easily to restaurants/shops and to the beach. Perhaps more seasoned travelers are aware of this, but there is no hot water. So be ready for showering as fast as possible. Overall, I recommend this place and would love to visit it again at some point. Also worth mentioning is the close distance to the Super Compro, a super market. The kitchen was equipped quite well and we made a couple meals at the house.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

The property is immaculately taken care of. Beautifully decorated. Minutes from the beach by foot or bike. I enjoyed my days by swimming in the ocean and taking in the sites of an authentic Costa Rican community. In the evening you could hear the neighborhood kids playing soccer, families playing music and enjoying dinner. The property is next to a Barrio bakery. amazing desserts. Melva and her sister live close by and were very welcoming. I had one of the best Thanksgivings of my life. Thank you ladies for everything.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

I can't say enough about my wonderful stay in Costa Rica. This cottage is the perfect location to steep yourself into the very heart of Tico life. With Lynn, the warm knowledgabe owner, right next door, I felt like a new neighbor. From lazing under a palm tree and watching the locals play soccer on the beach, to tons of local arts and crafts, not to mention an abundance of restaurants boasting inter-national cuisine, only a 5 minute walk away I had all I needed and then some. My accommodations couldn't have been better in this charming, modern newly re- furbished cottage. Lynn even came along on one of my rain forest adventures! Zip-lining, crocs on the Targoles River, and capuchin monkeys eating bananas from my hand-- I can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: Originally from Montana, I have lived in Jaco for 22 years. Melva, my sister, has been living in Montana, but has decided to stay warm this winter and return to Costa Rica. We live nextdoor to Casita Encantada, so we can help you get the most out of your Costa Rica vacation.
Why the Owner Chose Jaco:
Ever since my first visit to Costa Rica in 1985 I wanted to return. When I was able to do that in 1990 my plan was to stay for six months. It's been 22 years and I still love this country and it's people.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Casita Encantada feels like home. You can walk to a local bakery and buy bread that is still warm, or walk to the farmer's market and get fresh fruit and vegetables. Imagine sitting on the front porch drinking a cup of Costa Rican coffee or an Imperial beer, taking in the sights and sounds of Costa Rica. Pura Vida!
