We had a Thanksgiving reunion with 15 people. The home has such an open feel, nobody felt crowded. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need. The bedrooms were very comfortable and there was plenty of beds for everyone. We played games, made puzzles and sat by the fire and talked. It was a perfect stay.

Baseball Team Reunion
We hosted a reunion of 20 young men (recent college grads) for the weekend. The place far exceeded our expectations! It couldn't have been more perfect. The house was VERY accommodating - from the space, the # beds, the amenities, EVERYTHING! The high-speed internet was great - fast enough to stream video (we showed football games streamed from my SlingBox at home to my laptop pc which we setup with a big screen projector - we had multiple games showing simultaneously and had all 20 of us eating, drinking and watching games together on the main floor/kitchen area and it was not crowded at all). The tree in the middle of the room is really cool! The furniture was very comfortable. The basement offered another spacious room with plenty of seating, another TV, a small kitchen a few beds. We didn't even need this as the upstairs was enough. The porch and deck offer plenty of seating for those who wish to enjoy the outdoors. We had tons of fun with the ping pong table. A few of the guys took the kayaks out in the morning while other enjoyed jumping in the water from the deck. The kitchen was super - all top end appliances and all the kitchenware and utensils we needed were provided. Towels galore! We didn't really need to bring anything but our food (and the two refrigerators we plenty of storage. We even had no trouble parking about 12 cars on the property! This is a first class property! The boat house was something else. The view from the top of the boat house was amazing. The house/property made this a most enjoyable weekend. Everyone raved about the place. I have rented from many places and usually have one or two things that warrant a complaint. Not here. This place is first class all around. Cindy was a pleasure to work with and made the entire process from booking to checkout very simple. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RENTAL PROPERTY!!!!

My family and I had a great family vacation. House is very spacious and comfortable. Dock with deck overhead was great along with the water toys, kayaks and paddle boat. we had ten adults and the large kitchen and dinner table were perfect. Kitchen is much larger than appears in the photos. GREAT drive leading to the home! Working with the owner was easy and helpful. We rented a boat and enjoyed the skiing and tubing. Also, recommend the drive-in theater about 25 minutes away.

About the owner: I fell in love with lake life as a child. We grew up near the Fingerlakes in NY and summers were spent at Keuka Lake. That crystal clear natural lake surrounded by rolling hills spotted with vineyards marked the location of my happiest times. When I relocated to Georgia to work for a 'start-up' called CNN, I immediately began looking for a Georgia lake experience that would at least somewhat compare to my beloved Keuka Lake. Many lakes and many rentals later, I was drawn to Lake Burton exclusively. The clear waters and full pond, the gorgeous North GA mountains (oh! and is that a vineyard or two springing up?!), the easy drive up from Atlanta that put me in another world for the weekend...it was meant to be. Today Keuka Lake and Lake Burton are pretty much tied on that favorite location of all time list in my head. I consider myself so lucky to have such rich memories of my lake days as a girl, and I want more than anything to provide my 3 daughters and husband, my extended family and my friends with memories to rival mine.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Burton:
When I purchased this property, an 800 sq ft cabin stood where our dining room now sits. That little cabin provided me with 5 years of cherished memories. It affectionately became known as 'the treehouse', nestled amongst the trees. When we tore it down in 2002 to build our 'lifetime' vacation home, I felt a bittersweet twinge for that tiny, deteriorating little shack. As I undertook the design of our home, I wanted a unique 'outdoors brought in' element. We needed a support for the main floor and I thought about a stone pillar or a beam. While talking to a couple of my closest friends about this challenge the idea of having a climbing tree in the house came up. But how do you get a tree with sturdy branches down low on the trunk? These two friends solved this by traveling to family property in Washington, GA to 'collect' the eastern cedar that stands in the house today. It was no small feat to move a tree; and our contractor rose to the installation challenge as well. Thus, our new home became 'the treehouse' with a whole new meaning...
