This was our first time to Maui and our expectations were exceeded. What a fantastic place to stay. We appreciated the amazing attention to detail. Everything was here that we could have possibly needed including the deck of cards that we forgot at home for some fun on the relaxing Lani. Hope went out of her way to ensure we had a great time. Her tip to get ice cream with your shave ice was delicious. We would definitely recommend this place to others.

Had the opportunity to take a quick Maui get away, and luckily ran across this great unit on vrbo! Everything was perfect when we arrived at the condo, clean, quiet and private. The furnishings were great and the beach chairs and umbrella made the long days at the beach perfect! Hope was the perfect hostess and checked in with us during our stay to see if there was anything we needed to make our vacation more perfect! She even had treats in the unit for us! We will always check availability of this unit on our trips to Maui. Thanks for the great time!

Once you stay in this Unit, you will never be happy with a different one! We spent 2 weeks in, and it was the greatest trip that We've ever done. Everything stocked, everything ready for our arrival. We wrote a couple pages in the guest book, so all I can say is rent the Unit, and read our comments while sitting on the lanai, at night while bbq'ing fresh caught Ahi Tuna!! Thank you from Canada!!!

I researched Maui far and wide before booking KKN142 and we were more than happy with our decision. Kihei is the perfect laid back beach town - not as resort-ish as Kaanapali, not as fancy as Wailea (we're not fancy people!) and with more amenities than the Napili area. We were also thrilled with the location of Kihei Kai Nani - close to shops and across from the BEST beach. We realized when we arrived a lot of the properties we'd looked at were far up the road (north) of KKN and the beaches and amenities up there just aren't as great as they are at KKN. We are also convinced that KKN142 is THE condo to stay at within the complex. The location is perfect - right by the pool, but with the lanai not facing the pool (more private/quieter) but a lovely green belt. It is not too close to the road that we heard a PEEP of traffic noise, yet it is only a 2 minute walk to the beach. The owners have made sure that the condo has everything you'd need while staying there - from free WiFi, to a coffee maker to beach chairs/umbrella, lots of towels, and our favourite, a blender for margaritas! Last but certainly not least, Hope is a fantastic host. She called to welcome us to the island, and checked in with us a couple of times during our stay, even leaving us a little treat mid-way through our stay - which was in addition to the treats waiting for us when we arrived. I can't say enough about KKN142. You simply cannot go wrong staying here and I'm sure you'll feel the way we do now (a week after returning home), that KKN142 is a "home away from home" and we cannot wait to come back. Thank you Hope and everyone for the best part of our trip to Maui!

Our stay in unit # 142 at Kihei Kai Nani was wonderful! The location was great(right across from the beach)and the Condo had everything we could want. Not only was the unit very clean, it felt so comfortable just like home. Hope was so warm and accommodating from start to finish. She is like a family member you wish you had if you could pick one. All details were covered and thanks to Daniel for all the office support. I would recommend this Condo to anyone and look forward to a return visit.

We just got back home from a fabulous vacation in Maui. KKN 142 is too great for words. We didn't need to bring half of the items we did as it is so well stocked! The little goodies in the refrigerator were a delicious welcome and very thoughtful. From the moment we kicked off our shoes and entered, we felt like we were home.Hope is such as gracious hostess, it seems like we knew her and Daniel forever. The pool is fantastic although a little cold but after a hot day it began to feel very refreshing. Since we were located right across from the pool it was so easy if we had to "refresh" our drink or forgot anything. We also loved that the Ocean is right across the street, so easy for a stroll down to watch the sunset. We sat outside in front star gazing a few nights and met quite a few neighbors. Everyone we met was so friendly, talking and having a good time it was so hard to leave. Well, actually we decided before we left to come back next December and enjoy another 2 weeks at KKN 142! Thanks so much for letting us share your home. We enjoyed ourselves every minute. DC and Judy Bush

Comment Text: We have stayed at KKN quite a few times and 142 is definitely the nicest unit. We were extremely impressed with how immaculate everything was, even in every nook and cranny of the cupboards and closets! Hope was so nice and helpful before, during and after our stay - thank you Hope! She even purchased an outdoor drying rack for us! We loved how private it was yet close to the BQue and appreciated how well stocked the kitchen was and having new - shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, hand soap, laundry soap, bleach, etc. - get the idea how clean it was!! Beach chairs, toys, umbrellas, coolers, beach towels ,etc. were great to have too. When we return to Maui we will stay there again, for sure. Thanks again Hope - you were the best! Sincerely, Ron and Cindy, Victoria, B.C.

We're hooked! We enjoyed our third holiday at the Kihei Kai Nani Aug 23-Sept4. Unit 142 is the nicest so far. Very well appointed, CLEAN, everything you could think of is provided and is of top quality including the beach equipment. Hope is a wonderful hostess and it was nice that the unit was nicely cooled down when we arrived. Welcome gifts in the fridge were also greatly appreciated. We're counting the days until we enjoy the sunset once again from Kam II. Mahalo!

July 18 - 25. This property is set apart from the rest. Mostly due to all the care and attention from Hope. She put relaxation and the most warm welcome feeling of any trip in recent memory. From the chocolates and champagne (it was our honeymoon)to the impeccable cleanliness of the condo. We thought we had simply booked a low cost condo, in reality we booked a treasure that will last a life time. Hope made all the difference in the world, keeping us Hallie's (I misspelled that, didn't I?)safe and well educated. We will be back!!! Thank you for making our honymoon perfect. Aloha from Alaska

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at KKN 142 April 8-16. The highest compliment I can give is that we look forward to returning to KKN 142 as soon as possible. This unit is SPOTLESS and COMPLETELY STOCKED. We felt like we were at home and not a rental unit. We covered the entire island and found Kihei was perfect for us; laid back, convenient, and friendly. Our accommodation was only rivaled by Hope's superior service. What a gem!! She was exceedingly helpful, prompt and attentive from my first inquiry to our last day. Thanks ever so much Hope. We had a wonderful time due in part to our great home away from home KKN 142. Mahalo, John W.

Hope, thank you so very much for a wonderful holiday. Our family enjoyed the condo, the area and all that Maui has to offer. We appreciate all the little extras you did for us, the goodies in the fridge, all the beach supplies, and all the input of the best sights on Maui. We had a helicopter ride, whale watching, Luau, many days on the beach, the Hana road, dips in the pool, and loads of quality family time. The condo is truly a ‘home away from home’ and I will recommend it to my family and friends. The condo complex was quiet, comfortable and was well suited for our family. Wonderful location, close to the beach, walking distance to shops, and easy access to the highway.I really appreciate your feedback on what to see for my book research. We enjoyed two wonderful weeks at #142 Kihei Kai Nani in December. The location of this condo is excellent with Kam II right across the street. We enjoyed many afternoons in the large , very clean pool after snorkelling with the turtles. As you will read in many comments this is an extremely well outfitted condo and you will quickly feel "at home" I would recommend staying here and we hope to be back soon!

Amazing service + great condo! We can only agree with all the positive comments on this condo. We stayed for 8 days during our honeymoon. The condo is absolutely beautiful and immaculately clean. Every detail has been anticipated and taken care of. From the Safeway and Makkai Cards that are available to the guests, the perfect kitchen to the boogie boards and beach towels. It is close to the beach but away from the street noise. We were surprised how great the snorkeling was at this beach. We went almost every morning and did not only see lots of beautiful tropical fish but sea turtles as well! Afternoons were usually great for boogie boarding. And - best things last - Hope's exceptional service. From the welcoming note to the complimentary chocolate and sparking wine for us honeymooners to the call to check if everything is alright. It did not only make our honeymoon at this condo special but absolutely fantastic!

We had a fabulous vacation at suite 142. The suite had EVERY we could have asked for and MORE!!! The kitchen is very well-equipped, the king-sized bed very roomy, the living room very cozy (with lots of tv channels to keep you occupied when not at the beach) and the dedicated wireless internet was very helpful in allowing us keep in touch with friends and family. The little extras in the suite for our daughter were very much appreciated - bucket, shovels, ukelele, videos, books, animal crackers, etc. She loved it all! And, the pre-trip, in-trip and post-trip help from Hope was invaluable! From the directions to the condo, to the note in the room welcoming us, the treats in the fridge, and the check-ins throughout the week, nothing was left for us to worry about. And, we left a watch in the beach bag and Hope returned it to us. This type of service was over and above what we would have experienced at a top hotel. Finally the location is awesome. The beach across the street is one of the best in Kihei, there are restaurants right outside the complex and everything you need is within a few min drive. And, we really appreciated the Safeway and Foodland cards that allowed us to save money at the grocery stores. When we return to Maui, we'll definitely return to unit 142.

142 is definitely a unit we'd book again in the future! It's in a great location (centrally accessible to all sights on the island) and is well stocked with everything you can think of...the Hawaiian theme is a nice added touch. Hope was incredible! She's got the speediest response time with anything and always ensured we were comfortable. She also surprised us with a pineapple, mango, and bottle of brut as pre-newlyweds. Will definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a clean unit in an great location on Maui!

Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful atmosphere and comfortable lodgings. It's obvious that you have spend much time and care thinking of everything one would need to enjoy a great holiday in Maui. Your condo is the best equipped accommodation that we have found yet in the two trips we have made to the island. Hope was very gracious and helpful. We look forward to a future visit, and will plan ahead to ensure that we can stay in #142 next time as well. Warm regards Mahalo Roni and Steven

We had a great time staying in your in your condo for 27 nights last month. We’ve stayed in various condos in Kihei Kai Nani over the years. This was our 12th visit to the complex. Yours was one of the best. Little things that Hope gave us were a nice surprize and well appreciated. The kitchen equipment was of better quality than we have seen before - kitchen knives actually would cut things, a can opener that worked and a stove that was level and a pleasure to work on. All of the kitchen utensils and pots and pans were of good quality. The beach chairs were comfortable and easy to use. We are thinking of going back next year, but it’s a little hard to think that far in advance, what with just getting back. Thanks again,Ruth & Robin.Calgary, Alberta, Canada

We enjoyed our stay 4/11-4/17. The condo was nicely remodeled and the equipment provided (beach chairs, umbrella, beach towels, etc.) was high quality. Hope was very nice and called to check on us and make sure everything was ok. The unit was very clean and Hope left pineapple, chocolates, animal cookies, and some pineapple hawaiian wine in the fridge. We were originally flying ATA airlines which went bankrupt a week before our trip. Because it was the second airline in a week that primarily flys to Hawaii from the west coast to go bankrupt we didn't have many options to rebook. The owners would not refund our money because it was a week until our stay. I can understand this from the owner's point of view because there would be little chance of him being able to rent the condo but we have also stayed in condos in the past that would refund based unforseen events. So this is something to consider if you book ahead. Because of this we were forced to rebook our flights and ended up paying double what we originally paid for a red eye flight with a layover (we were also flying with two small children). Hope and the owner were accommodating in allowing us to change our arrival day and departure day from a Fri-Fri to a Thurs-Thurs and they also let us have a late checkout on the last day before our red eye. This unit is one of the nicest in the KKN complex. It has a nice grassy lawn off the lanai and it is in a nice building convenient to the pool but not one of the noisy buildings in the front of the complex. Being on the ground floor is nice when you are lugging beach gear and have kids.
Owner response:Our website clearly states there are no refunds allowed, which is typical in this industry. We had already turned away other bookings for that week. The VRBO listing clearly states that we suggest trip insurance, especially now during these uncertain times with the airlines. We are truly sorry that our guest had to pay more for airfaire, but you can see from their comments, it certainly did not impact their view of our condo or their great vacation.

What a treat to stay in such a well equipped unit. A quick trip to the local Foodland (or Safeway) for our food and a leisurely paruse through the "Maui Revealed guide" while listening to some wonderful music and enjoying the ambience of our unit's tasteful decore and we quickly had activities chosen for our stay. The rest was all play. Flippers to go with the snorkel and mask sets can be rented from rental shops just a block away. Internet cafe, gift shops, eateries all closeby. Can still feel the warmth and hear the birds, aah!!!

My family and I have just finished out ten night stay at "Makamaka ola Hale" and I am pleased to say that it was a fantastic expereience. The condo literally comes complete with everything you will need for a beach holiday from coolers, beach chairs & umbrella, boogie boards, beach towels and a snorkels & masks. The kitchen was well appointed with all sorts of gadgets and cookery. The living area and bedroom were inviting and well appointed. Being on the ground floor was convenient for unloading groceries, walking on the grass off of the lanai, strolling over to the pool for a dip and made moving laundry a breeze. I watched may other visitors slog their boogie boards and coolers up two flights of stairs while I enjoyed a drink by the pool. Poor souls. The other thing we liked about our stay at "Makamaka ola Hale" was it's proximity to all the wonderful beaches in south Kihei. Our favourites were Mokapu and Palauea. Palauea had great snorkelling on both sides of the beach and always seem to attract fewer people. Ten short minutes from the condo.... awesome. Hope is the hostess with the "mostess" and we will absolutely be booking with her again the next time we visit Maui. Vinne and John (Hope too) obviously take great pride in their island retreat and it shows in the attention to detail. Mahalo, Sofia, Oscar, Kirsten and Kurt Victoria, BC

Wow! Wow! Wow! Clean! Clean! Clean! What a place and what a great time! We couldn't say enough about Kihei Kai Nani Unit 142! From the fresh pineapple to the welcome note. We searched for months...literally! We stayed for 9 days and never wanted to leave! Very common I'm sure! They have everything you could ask for and more. The beach chairs, boogie boards, and snorkel gear made the beach an even better playground! The kitchen is fully stocked and we mean fully! Very comfortable living/dining area. You really feel as if you are in the comfort of your own home. The bedroom was perfect also...so comfortable and big. Last but certainly so important was the service. The hostess Hope is literally the very best!!!! She is the sweetest person. She makes you feel as if you are with family or a long lost friend. We couldn't say enough about this rental. You would never get this kind of treatment elsewhere. You won't be dissapointed! We will most certainly be back!!

Kihei Kai Nani Unit 142 was a very clean unit and the owner/hostess really cared to make sure that every need was addressed. The kitchen stove and countertops are recently updated. The furniture is charming and seems new. The unit is walking distance to a very nice beach with nice swimming. Many restaurants and shops are also walking distance. Great snorkeling with a short drive. The hostess even left us a short note, pineapple, and chocolates upon our arrival. No bugs even though this is often a problem in Maui. The noise is minimal and is not a problem. I would stay here again for the value, location, and hospitality.

Michael and I stayed at KKN 142 for our Honeymoon.. Married on 7-7-07 and arriving in Maui on 7-9-07, I must say it was all a blur.. but stepping into KKN 142 was just the beginning of our fairytale honeymoon and life together. I had so much planned for the first day, but KKN142 was so inviting, I just wanted to put away all my clothes, and go grocery shopping. We ended up spending the entire day hanging out on the patio and shopped after the sun set. The condo has EVERYTHING you could need. It was definitely a home away from home, and we are already planning our second trip! Hope and Dan took care of us, and it was nice to know they were on the island in case something was needed.. Definitely look into stay here!

My hushand and I staying in this condo from June 15 thru June 20, 2007. This is by far the BEST place we have ever stayed and Hope is such a GREAT hostess, you could not ask for anyone better. The condo is in the perfect location, and the beach across the street is by far one of the best beaches on Maui, all you have to do is walk out your door, down the driveway and across the street and there you are, the sunsets from this beach are out of this world, we went to the beach everyday. The first night we ate at Cafe O' Lei, it is right next door to the condo, Randy had the duck and I had shrimp, good prices for Maui and excellent service also, we would return and eat there again. When we arrived at the condo, Hope had fresh pineapple and candy in the fridge waiting on us with a nice little note welcoming us to our "home away from home" for the next serveral days. The condo also has all the beach toys and it also has a cooler, beach chairs and anything else you could possibly want or need, my husband made good use of the boogie boards that were available. We also took in the Feast of Le Le, this is a Luau that is held over in Lahania which is a short drive from the condo. I would recommend this Luau to anyone, it is not buffet service but rather they bring the food to your table and then the dancers perfrom the native dance while you enjoy your dinner, it is really worth the price you pay to take in this event. We are already making plans to return to Maui sometime and when we do I will not look anyplace else for accommodations, we will stay in this condo. Thanks Hope for everything, you made our stay so much more enjoyable and the condo was better than I could have every hoped for. Keep up the good service, we LOVED staying there and we will be back sometime for sure. Randy and Cathy

The decorations are great and feel like home. The 'toys' are all there, including two coolers, sun lotion and even shampoo and conditioner! Our family of four had a great reunion time and would definitely return to this condo, after staying at others on Maui, this is REALLY the best! The book by the TV is invaluable, Maui Revealed! Whatever you are going to do, look in there first! Thanks to John, Vinnie and Hope for making out Maui getaway first rate! Mahalo!

Stayed for 9 nights middle of May 2007. Very clean, renovated, comfortable ground floor location, great King bed! Private, easy to get to bbq which no one uses much! Get the Maui beef ribs from Costco. We enjoyed the chairs, umbrella and coolers provided - also blender that mashes up fruit and ice giving smoothies! As others have found, Kamaole II beach within 2 min walking is great, soft sand and the safest to swim and snorkel in. K Beach I is larger however you will find that dog owners from the condos on either side use it as a sand box and do not pick up. Many cigarette butts as well. Not all trash is inanimate! No one cares, yeeech. K Beach III is nice for boogie boarding and has semi-private small sand areas and is within 5 minute walk. K beaches I + II had lifeguards. Whichever beach you choose, be careful when walking on the water's edge as there are bees that for some reason decide to die there. You can get stung. We saw a huge turtle at Kamaole II! You don't want to swim anywhere else, many people drown in Maui waters, a groom drowned in Wailea the week of May 7 and a woman was bitten by a shark at Keawakapu Beach (also Wailea) same week. Keawakapu is also where a man had his fingers bitten off in Dec 2006 (mauinews). Hmmm, get the picture? That cuts out beaches more south. Beaches in the north have coarser sand or monster resorts all around except for Fleming Beach Park which is quite a drive. Note that because of the disgusting algae caused by the nutrients in human waste coral has almost died out around Maui. Huge difference from when I dived there 18 years ago... So snorkeling around K-beach II is about as good as it gets in most places. Bottom line, condition of unit 142, beaches nearby, quiet, and value all 5 stars.

just spent ten days at this wonderful unit. it was comfortable and convenient and very lovely. the place is in the best location in kihei, moments from the best beaches but a bit into the complex so you do not hear any traffic. the hostess, Hope, makes sure that you are taken care of and do not need anything. the place was also spotless. (so nice ) so do not hesitate if you are considering a condo in this area. this is a very good choice.

What a wonderful time we had staying at MAKAMAKA OLE HALE #142! Anything and everything we needed was at hand at all times. Close to resturants, a beautiful beach, shopping, bars and tourist attractions this sweet condo had it all going for it! Highly recommend this condo, we stayed for 15days and had such a good time. We came to Maui to have our wedding and honeymoon there and MOH was just the spot we were looking for. Thanks so much to Hope, the hostess for the condo, for her many kindeness in making our stay so special! And thanks to Vinnie and John for sharing their home in an affordable way so the rest of us can have a little piece of heaven too! God Bless to all, we WILL be back! Shirley and Virgel LaMar

Our visit was for nine nights in early April 2007. We enjoyed our visit tremendously and agree with all of the favourable comments of those who have stayed here before us. The cake from the best bakery on the island delivered on Easter Sunday by Hope was a real treat too. What really made this a great place for us was how ideal it is for a stay with a two year old and a four year old: a big grassy area off the lanai, lots of books, videos, kids musical instruments and sand toys, and all of the beach gear imagineable, a nice size pool, similar aged kids staying in the complex and a short walk to Kam II beach. Enjoy!...Kostuik family

We stayed at KKN 142 for 10 days in March 2007 and had a great time. This was our third trip to Maui and the Kai Nani and this is by far the best condo on the block! It is so beautifully decorated and comfortable, especially as we had my 16 month old son who shared the king bed with my husband and I and my mother who slept on the sofa bed! Hope was a fantastic host - nothing was too much for her and she really looked after us. We highly recommend this condo!

Aloha, I just returned to Colorado 22 March from 2 weeks on Maui and 2 weeks on the Big Island in 4 different condos..KKA 142 is great in everyway. Close to the beautiful beaches, so well furnished and pretty. Loved the giraffes. Taking the table and chairs out and putting the bar/counter in was a great idea. Perhaps a table and chairs could be added on the patio. I did miss a W/D in the unit but was very convinent just across the drive by the pool so was not a problem..Your Hawaiian Aloha was truly welcome with the ice water, pineapple and chocolates in the frig. I finally got to meet Hope the day I left. You are very lucky to have her. She left a pineapple bread loaf on the patio when I was gone one day..that was so good!! She is such a breath of fresh air..Thank you so much Shirley from CO

Unbelievable value! My family of 3 stayed here 5 days in June, 2006. We have stayed in condos numerous times in Alabama, Florida, & the Carolinas. Not as luxurious as some in which we have stayed, but by far the best, not just the beat value. VERY clean, GREAT location, and EXTREMELY well furnished (with all the "extras"). Add Hope as a local contact and you get an UNBEATABLE combination!

The condo is very nice. Extremely clean and well equipped. Hostess Hope is a very nice lady and was helpful every time I had to call her! Many restaurants are right next door or within a couple blocks easy walk. Snorkel Bob's just 2 blocks away. Internet cafe next door if needed for email. Sunsets right across the street with a nightly show (horn blower!). Shop at Longs for best values on lots of things and there is a very nice Safeway for food. This is our third time staying at KKN, and this is the best condo so far! The value is really there. Don't hesitate!

This condo is everything anyone could wish for as a vacation rental. It is well appointed and supplied with any item you may need. We really appreciated the high speed internet connection. We have been to Kai Nani 4 times and #142 is by far the best unit. We stayed here from Dec.12/06 to Jan 9/07. Our hostess Hope is an angel. She is friendly and ready to help when needed. (Thank you Hope for being there for us and for all the goodies.) Vinnie and John you have chosen well. We can't wait to go back. Aloha and Mahalo

For those of you considering if this is the right place for you to stay while in Maui, the answer should be YES! The condo is immaculate and well-maintained. Vinnie and John have done a great job in making you feel comfortable and "at home." They have supplied their guests with many ammenities...which means less to pack! Hope is a wonderful hostess who makes sure your stay is everything you want and need it to be. GREAT PLACE!!

We visited Maui from August 14th-28th to get married and had a FANTASTIC stay. The condo was perfect. Beautifully decorated, had everything we needed and Hope was a fabulous host. We very highly reccommend this condo to families but expecially to couples. It was the perfect place to be close to someone special. Mahalo!
