Great cozy cabin!
Great cozy cabin!
Six of us recently stayed at Carole's Cove and it was the perfect weekend getaway. The size was just right, warm fireplace, fully-stocked kitchen, amenities, and amazing views. It was in a great location just between Ft. Bragg and the town of Mendocino. I would recommend the walk to Point Cabrillo lighthouse, just 20 mins from the cabin. Also would recommend the Skunk Train that departs from Ft. Bragg.

When they say on the website, "All you need is your toothbrush", they meant it. Your cabin was PERFECT. It anything and everything you could think to need. Most importantly, the kitchen was extremely well-stocked. I prefer renting homes over hotels on vacation and have done it many times all over the world. I can say that Carole's Cove is by far one of the best rentals I have ever had the pleasure of staying at.

Our Perfect Vacation Getaway
Our Perfect Vacation Getaway
Every year for the past 10 years we have stayed in the Mendocino area, from Christmas to a Summer getaway. Each and every visit we always walk the trails of Point Cabrillo. So imagine our delight when we discovered Carole's Cove, roughly 100 yards away from those same Point Cabrillo trails. We booked it immediately not knowing exactly what to expect once there (because some descriptions on VRBO or Airbnb aren't entirely accurate). Six months later we arrived along with our (adult) children as a family getaway and found this "cabin" to be what was described and then some. Common phrases that were repeated over and over while there ran like this; "This place is really well stocked. The hosts here thought of everything. We have everything we need." Also, the location is spectacular and central to all of our favorite Mendocino coast activities from kayaking to hiking to shopping and dining out in Mendocino village. Blacktail deer would meander through the property while Osprey would fly overhead. And there's a little "secret" spot where you can find a small colony of Sea Lions in a beautiful setting to watch the sunset. Hint: you can hear them from the house. Beyond our various adventures during our week-long stay, the entire family loved Carole's Cove for the sheer relaxing atmosphere and comfort while enjoying the ocean view and the many amenities that come with the house. We enjoyed cooking a number of meals together at the house and found that we lacked no utensils, dishes, pans or anything necessary for our party of six. Everything(!) we needed was there. We also loved having a nice fire in the wood stove in the mornings while watching the sun rise over the ocean breakers. Wood and kindling was also well stocked. It's already been decided that this will be our annual family vacation spot. You've spoiled us. Thank you Carole!

Owner response: So glad to hear that you enjoyed our place and were able to see all that you had hoped. May the welcome gift remind you of the wonderful "gifts" that is Mendocino and the surrounding areas. You are welcome any time!
Carole's Cove is a "home sweet home" in a peaceful setting- perfect for our extended family vacation. The ocean view from the dining table made every meal a delight! Our daughter loved the large flat, beautifully landscaped grassy lawn for running around under pine trees and playing hide n' seek. My parents who were visiting from Canada were thrilled with the walks from the doorstep to the lighthouse and beach just minutes away. Everything was very clean, and the kitchen was very conveniently stocked with everything we needed right down to the coffee grinder!

Wonderful home on the coast
Wonderful home on the coast
We stayed at Carole's Cove for a long weekend and absolutely loved it. It had everything our family needed and more. We self catered for most meals and never found wanting for any tool or device to make a meal. We stayed with our 2 small kids (4 & 1) and found the whole experience perfect. The kids loved the wood fire, croquet set and hammock. None of us wanted to leave. It was very well located for exploring the Fort Bragg/Mendocino area. Mendocino has a small grocery store and a few nice places to eat (the Goodlife Bakery on the main street sells delicious food), Fort Bragg has all the large stores (Safeway, CVS etc) and a lovely sandwich place run by a happy, eccentric chap (Cirino's). Carole's family were a pleasure to deal with. The rental process was seamless. We would not hesitate to stay at Carole's Cove again. We are so glad we went.

Carole's Cove is a special place -- a warm, inviting home with a lovely garden and views of the Pacific Ocean. We felt like we were staying with old friends. Arriving on a rainy day, we were grateful for the fire already set in the wood-burning stove and a welcoming bottle of wine. The house was stocked with everything we needed. The walk to the lighthouse along the headlands made us feel like we were in another world, as did our hike at Russian Gulch State Park, just a short drive away. The drive to Mendocino through the Anderson Valley along Hwy 128 is beautiful and home to many fine wineries. We plan to return one day to this unique part of northern California and Carole's Cove.

Little slice of heaven
Little slice of heaven
my girl cousins and I (7 of us total) rented this place, and we had such a lovely time. Amanda was very helpful and accommodating, the cabin was spacious and very well kept. We all loved the little ocean view which could be seen from any of the windows on the front of the house. I spent my mornings with a cup of tea curled up on the couch enjoying the sea lions barking in the distance and the waves crashing on the rocks... It was so relaxing, none of us wanted to return to reality at the end of our trip. I would love to come back with my family someday- hopefully soon!
