Location: Taos, New Mexico, USA (Walk to the Plaza & Museums from your Private Courtyard) View Map
Accommodations: House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-3)
Keywords: Casita
Authentic, romantic adobe just two blocks from the plaza. Colorful furnishings, Mexican Talevera tiles, wood-burning cast iron stove, and original art from Taos artisans grace Casa Manana. Roof-top views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains can be viewed from the second-story deck that adjoins the loft bedroom. Unwind with a soak in the hot tub in the landscaped, private courtyard.
The casita is a part of one of Taos' earliest properties that housed Kit Carson's calvary barracks. You can almost "hear" the sounds of the soldiers' horses that were tied up in the courtyard over 100 years ago. Completely furnished with brand-new appliances including dishwasher, DVD, and stereo and outdoor gas grill. Well-behaved dogs are welcome!
Our casita sits on a secluded lane near the Mabel Dodge Luhan House that backs up to Native American Pueblo lands. Walk to world-class restaurants and galleries or go hiking- just minutes away. The pull-out, futon couch is perfect for your small child or enjoy the casita as a romantic couples only getaway. The hot tub sits in a private courtyard surrounded by wildflowers. Enjoy serenity of a secluded area but park your car and walk to everything!

Owner's Map of Taos
Kate Culligan and Josh Comfort have lived in Denver for over 30 years owning and managing rental properties as a side- line to their professional lives. They have a Brady Bunch of kids-with Josh’s four kids and Kate’s two. She is a former Marketing and Promotions executive with Clear Channel Radio and has recently started a consulting practice specializing in career development. Josh is an Architect with extensive historic renovation experience, and has been a prime mover in the revitalization of Lower Downtown Denver, which is now filled with lofts and restaurants, many designed by Josh. A short 4-1/2 hour drive away, Taos offered a dramatically contrasting experience – inner city life in a burgeoning metropolitan area versus an ambling pace in a culturally complex small town.
Their Taos adventure began six years ago during a weekend getaway taken to replenish themselves during a particularly challenging period of their lives. Little did they know that a Sunday stroll down Morada Lane would result in a signed contract to purchase their first “unloved” but charming historic property, Casa Manana. The property had been empty for over a year and lacked adequate plumbing and electrical. But Kate and Josh saw through the overgrown courtyard and fuchsia pink walls to see the great “bones” of the property.
Kate and Josh plan to spend more time in Taos in order to continue to added touches to their properties and to create a more flexible and art-filled life. Within a few years, they hope to spend at least 50% of their time enjoying the Taos lifestyle. When Kate and Josh are not in Taos, their local caretaker is Sheila VanDerveer, a Taos midwife, writer and organic farmer. Sheila is available to answer any of your questions, during your visit to Taos.
Since then, Kate and Josh have purchased three additional casitas on La Loma Plaza (also listed in vrbo)>
