My wife and I had a wonderful week at Lowtide. For the money, I don't think it is possible to find a more amazing place to stay. It was really great waking up every morning and seeing the beautiful sea right outside our door. We ate many meals right on our private deck overlooking the water. We also loved the private beach in front of the house with crystal clear water, and even snorkeled on the little reef that you can practically walk to during low tide. We got to see a few amazing sunsets where the sun melted into the sea! The house itself is cute and cozy, like a honeymoon cottage. We were very comfortable and had everything we needed. The property was very clean and well maintained. All of the pictures listed are very accurate. Although we did not get to meet Tammi in person, she was always very helpful with any questions we had over email. Abaco is an amazing place.. all of the people we met were extremely friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend getting a boat or taking ferries to some of the other islands on your visit. The water is the greatest treasure in Abaco. It is also worth the trip to Treasure Cay to enjoy the day on pristine white sand beaches with turquoise water. We look forward to coming back to Lowtide again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

We recently stayed at Lowtide at the end of April for 10 days. The place is perfect for 2 people. It is very clean and has everything you need. The location is spectacular. The views are great, right at the waters edge and the location out on the Eastern Shore is the best place in the Marsh Harbor area. The dockage set up is great if you have a boat or want to rent one which is very easy to do. The covered deck overlooking the water is a great feature. The owners live in the main house on the property and were a wealth of knowledge on the area. It is a great place and we will be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

What a fantastic place! It was recently built and the owners keep the place SPOTLESS! It is very well equipped - they seemed to have thought of everything. If you want your own music, there is a unit with a CD player, radio and input for an Ipod. It worked great! Everything in the description and photos was 100% accurate. The owners (Tammi and Fred) live in another house on the property. They are sort of in the background and we felt alone unless we sought them out. They have lived there for years and are a great resource for guidance, recommendation and information. The view from the porch is to die for! We ate breakfast and dinner on the porch every day. Lunch we ate at one of the other cays. The property is situated on a peninsula in a private community. The road runs along the water and is beautiful for taking long walks. The other residents are warm and welcoming and we always felt safe even at night on the road. Since the Abacos are a group of islands or cays, to really see them you need a boat or you can take the Albury ferry which is just down the road from the house. We rented a boat from Water Ways, which they delivered and picked up. You really need a boat to get around. Fred is a wealth of information on the area and if you are into fishing (we are not) well, that's his passion. Rely on his advice. Our 18' Whaler which was fine, but the locally-made Albury boats handle much better in the short chop they have there. We tied the boat up at the dock right in front of the house. It was really convenient. The cays are really close together so there is no problem with navigation. Lowtide is located about 4 miles from the airport. We took a cab on arrival and departure. The rest of the time we went into town in the boat. We brought our own meat frozen with us hearing that the quality is not what it is here. No hassles whatsoever bringing it in. You may have sticker shock at food and fuel prices but remember that the Bahamas imports almost everything and levies a duty on it. Soda, crackers, snacks are VERY expensive. Liquor is cheap. Plan accordingly! We loved the "restaurants" on the other cays, i.e. Nippers, Jacks, Grabbers, Cracker P's, Curly Tails, etc. There is an extensive three ring binder at Lowtide that the owners have put together. It's full of info on everything you could ever want to know about the area and attractions. We'd recommend Lowtide to anyone. We are already planning to go back again next April.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: We were glad that we had the opportunity to meet Tom and Pat and of course little Charlie.

We stayed at Lowtide for ten days in April 2010 and it was one of the best vacations we have ever taken! The house was recently built and the owners keep it SPOTLESS. The photos do not do it justice and the description is very accurate. It is located in a private community on a dead end road which runs along the water - very scenic! We went for long walks several times a day and at night with our dog and were not concerned with safety. There is little traffic on the road and the other residents are very friendly. The place is very quiet. The owners (Fred and Tammi) have another house on the property where they live. They are always available to answer questions or make recommendations but were really in the background and you'd never know they were there. Since they have lived there for years, they are a wealth of knowledge. If you are into fishing (we are not) Fred is a fantastic resource. Fishing is his passion and he knows where to send you. We rented a boat (18' Boston Whaler) while we were there from Water Ways on Man-O-War Cay. They delivered the boat to Lowtide and there was plenty of space at the dock in front of the house - very convenient. I would not get a Whaler again as the locally made Albury Brothers boats are much better suited to the conditions there which can be choppy. Ask Fred for advice on routes, where to eat, etc. If you do not have a boat and want to visit the other cays, (you should not miss them) they are a short trip. The Albury ferry dock is just down the road from Lowtide. The ferries are the local bus service and are very reliable. But, if you really want to get around, a rental boat is the best way. Lowtide is about 4 miles from the airport and we took a cab. The driver stopped at the grocery store (Price Right) and waited for us. We brought our own meat frozen from the States having heard that the local quality was not what we were used to. Everything is imported and the duty is high making things expensive (soda, crackers). Liquor is cheap in the Bahamas. Pack accordingly! There is no hassle bringing food in with you. Breakfast and dinner on the porch were memorable overlooking the Sea of Abaco. We usually cooked on the barbecue at night and ate lunch on one of the other Cays. The local fish is to die for! The locals on Abaco were very friendly and courteous to us. We felt really welcomed as if they wanted us there. We had absolutely no negatives with our trip. We were sad to leave and intend to return in 2011.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
