Nesting at the Sandpiper - Palm Desert
- Minimum stay:30 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
The Sandpiper Palm Desert is in the heart of it all…conveniently located on the corner of El Paseo (the “Rodeo Drive” of the desert), and Highway 74 (The “Palms to Pines” Highway). Highway 111 is the main thoroughfare through the desert, and is one block away. The nearest airport, Palm Springs International, is approximately 20 minutes away. Directly across the street from the front door of this home is a trailhead for you hikers.
El Paseo is lined by art galleries, day spas, casual and fine dining, and shops. If shopping is on your list you are in for a treat! El Paseo offers many shops including Eileen Fisher, Gucci, Cole Hahn and St. John to name a few. The outdoor mall, The Gardens on El Paseo, includes Saks, Ann Taylor, Brooks Brothers, Williams Sonoma, and Pottery Barn etc…. Directly across the street you will find two grocery stores, Vons and Fresh & Easy, the Westfield Mall, and a variety of family friendly restaurants. Don't forget to check out the local farmer markets for local and organic specialties and the College of the Desert weekend market.
The Palms to Pines Highway leaves Palm Desert and climbs through the Santa Rosa Mountains. Idyllwild, a quaint mountain resort, and the vineyards in Temecula, are a short drive. Heading further south are San Diego and the coast.
Recreation and entertainment abound with a long list of activities including: biking and hiking trails in the nearby canyons, casinos, cinemas, day spas, live theatre at the McCallum Theatre, a water-park, and a wild animal park. The desert is a golfer’s paradise and there are many golf courses to suit your game, your budget, and your handicap.
The Sandpiper condominiums, designed by Palmer and Krisel, are a famous representation of Desert Modernism. Architects and students of architecture come from around the world to study the unique layout which guarantees each unit privacy and outstanding views through floor to ceiling windows. The gardens and pool areas are extensive and shared with a maximum of 16 single story units in each 'circle' of Condos.
There are 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, breakfast bar, dining area, living room, and two patios. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with shower. The guest bath has shower/bath combo and pedestal sink with outdoor access. The kitchen is fully equipped and has slab granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a breakfast bar. There are two patios that have outdoor dining.
The pool area boasts beautiful mountain views, a large heated pool (84degrees), covered Ramada, gas BBQ, dining tables, chairs and sun loungers, shuffleboard, and a putting green.

Location
Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: After many years as residents in New York, Bill and I were looking for a change from our winter sojourns to Florida. I had lived in the Palm Desert Area as a teenager so it made sense for us to purchase in the desert to take advantage of the mild climate and limitless outdoor activities.
Why the Owner Chose Sandpiper:
As residents of New York, we were looking for a home that kept us close to the action. This location has it all -- shopping, restaurants, gallery's and live entertainment. Not to mention endless views of the surrounding mountains and never ending trails to discover.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
The minute we stepped onto the property we were sold on the location and the views and comfort of our unit. Living in a mid century jewel full of history and a short stroll to the local museum made it all too romantic to pass up. This unit is sized right to keep us close yet plenty of outdoor space to provide private time for reflection and relaxing.
