Welcome to our house on Lopaus Point Road in Bernard, on the "Quiet Side" of Mount Desert Island.
We fell in love with this house because it is nestled in the woods directly across the road from Back Beach, and because of the beautiful views of the ocean through the trees from all the front windows. The house is located in a quiet, scenic neighborhood, within walking distance of the working lobster pier in Bernard and a stopping point for the free summer bus service around Mount Desert Island.
Our house is a comfortable, three-bedroom family home, with a fully-equipped kitchen, full and three-quarter bathrooms, dining room, family room and den - everything you need for vacation. And if you have to work while enjoying your time here, there is also a small office area and wireless network access to the Internet.
The scenery on Lopaus Point is spectacular. We are directly across from Back Beach, with views of Bass Harbor from the deck and inside the house. We are close to Acadia National Park, with access to hiking and cycling trails, and lakes for canoeing and kayaking. You can put in for kayaking at Back Beach, to paddle Bass Harbor.

What a wonderful retreat and the perfect antidote for city life! After hiking all day, we enjoyed your well-equipped chef's kitchen and all the other comforts of home. And the serenity ... it was quiet enough that we could hear waves gently lapping at the shore. We actually were happy to have a rainy day, so we could spend more time at "home," relaxing and curling up with coffee and a good book. What a beautiful, charming house. We've been coming up to MDI for more than 10 years, and this is by far our favorite place to stay. We hope to be back soon!!
