  My wife and I were fortunate to spend 10 days at Mary's condo on Maui and enjoyed every minute. The condo is exactly as portrayed in the add. What we didn't expect was the added friendly atmosphere and neighbors, long time owners/visitors to the Kulakane. We met wonderful people from all over the U.S. and Canada. The sunsets are spectacular, the mornings relaxing, watching the whales and giant turtles was wonderful. We definitely would recommend anyone wanting a quiet relaxing vacation to consider this unit and this facility. Aloha and Mahalo Mary! Thanks for sharing your little piece of paradise! Kevin & Susan

  We had a wonderful, relaxing week at your condo! It is a comfortable place with a great view and just steps away from the ocean! We thoroughly enjoyed watching the whales and the sea turtles that swam in the water right there at the resort. The location is great too! We can't wait to come back and are already talking about next year! Thank you so much!

  If you are looking for a little slice of heaven, then this is the place for you. As you enter the condo, you are greeted to the sights and sounds of the ocean directly in front of you. The condo is beautifully decorated and is furnished so that it feels as though you’ve just arrived home. The area is more like a neighborhood than a resort, but offers the laid back feeling we were looking for. Each morning, we would sit on the lanai and watch the whales jumping and playing in the ocean directly in front of us. In the afternoon, we would sit near the pool and watch the turtles swimming so close you had to resist the urge to reach out and touch them, and at night we would go to sleep to the sound of the waves. The owner was wonderful to work with. She replied to our inquiries very promptly and also took the time to include several helpful hints in our arrival instructions. We so enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend contacting the owner of this property if you are looking for a little slice of heaven.

  This was the second year in a row that my boyfriend and I visited the Honokowai area in November, and we love the laid back feel of this area and condos, the ease of parking, and guaranteed beachfront views that you aren't always guaranteed at a resort. This particular condo in Kulakane was perfect for us because of the extra attention the owners paid to details: Gorgeous simple island style furnishings and dimmers on all the lights, a french press for coffee, top notch kitchen utensils, nice linens and towels (in abundance), 3 ceiling fans, a laundry drying rack, and the most comfortable bed we've ever slept on (no, really, we lifted up the mattress cover to google that particular mattress!). The ocean is always in sight in this condo and you can see turtles right from your lanai, as well as islands of Molokai and Lanai which make for a breathtaking breakfast spot, and you can see the moon set very early each morning over the water (spectacular!). The required security deposit didn't bother me, because it told me that they take care of their condo and that everything would be in good working order. The one thing to be mindful of is that the european style washer/dryer combo took a lot longer than we anticipated to run a load of laundry from start to finish and be dry so it was good that we didn't wait until we had totally run out of towels. To us this wasn't a big deal, but something to be aware of. The value and quality of this lodging experience for the dollar is excellent, and we got engaged on this trip so Kulakane will always be special to us!

  We spent 5 nights in Mary's condo. It was absolutely amazing, right on the beach, second story, so you don't have to worry about people walking past your condo and looking in (we've had that problem before) it was super clean and it was plenty of space. In fact, if you are traveling with kids, know that there is a very large walk in closet in the master bedroom that would easily fit a pack and play. Overall, we loved our stay, and it was great working with Mary!

  My wife and I were looking for a great, non-resort place to stay. We didn't want the resort experience, and we certainly didn't want to pay the resort prices. As such, Mary's condo was exactly what we were looking for. It's oceanfront, quiet and private. The whole condo is totally updated with new furniture, carpet (looks like a redone bathroom and kitchen). The location is great. Halfway between Kapalua and Kaanapali (if you're a runner, there are great boardwalks/oceanfront trails to run in both.) Saw turtles a plenty, jumping stingray and dolphins (we weren't there during whale watching time). So a recap of the pros: -Oceanfront -Quiet (in terms of neighbors) -Updated Condo -Convenient Location -Great Value. Tips: -Drive the north shore. The Road to Hana is the promoted drive, but I think the North shore drive is way better and is basically in the condo's back yard (as are some of the coves just north of the condo for snorkeling). It was a highlight of our trip. -If you're a runner, run the boardwalks/trails. Both Kapalua and Kaanapali have several miles of trails. You can do Kaanapali from the condo. A short drive to access the Kapalua trail. Conclusion: Great condo, private/quiet, oceanfront, updated. I would come back and would recommend it to my friends. Overall, I think it would be hard to beat the value. Mary is a great host as well and all of the logistics were seamless. October 2012

  As I write this review I am told by VRBO I can't leave my email, or any personal information which is a pity as I'd gladly tell anyone direct what I'm going to say here. My wife and I spent two weeks in 202 in November of 2012 and it was like dying and going to Heaven. We're 70-years-old, we've been coming to Hawaii for 40 years, we've been to every island, and we've stayed in some fabulous places but, as I said in the title, it just doesn't get any better than this. First, the area, Honokowai, is a village of wonderful people. Residents spearfish off the reef, local produce is sold at the farmer's market a few hundred feet down the road and the Okazuya Deli has people coming for miles for Mahi Mahi Lemon Capers. Second, the condo, the Kulakane, is acknowledged by all to be THE premier property here. It is. Third, while there is no such thing as a not-so-good unit in the KK --- they all face right on to the ocean --- 202 is quite spectacular. The unit is at the end closest to the water, and from the lanai (balcony to us mainlanders) I was able to take pictures of turtles! Today I saw two turtles while out for a swim. The unit is well equipped by owners who care and obviously are focused on creating raving fans and return business. We will return! And, be warned, if you come to 202 in the Kulakane you too will return. It couldn't be nicer. Aloha Browning family and thank you for making your home in Maui available to us. Rental balance, if any, shall be paid by Lessee on date indicated per VRBO payment schedule, at which time Lessor shall send lock box instructions for the property. Lessor further agrees to maintain the premises and utility systems in good repair, pay for all the utilities, and provide housekeeping services before and after your stay.
