"Beacon Bluff"
Escape to the Forgotten Coast of Florida, where the powdered-sugar white sandy beaches were reported "best in the US" for 2003 in the New York Times.
Situated on a bluff overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, Beacon Bluff is a historic beach house with a modern renovation. Relax on the large screened-in front porch and decks overlooking the gulf or walk out the gate and you are steps away from the water.
Original heart pine floors, three master suites, vaulted cypress ceilings and a gourmet kitchen add to the charm.
This is not just another beach house--it's the best of old Florida with all the modern conveniences. It's your beach home away from home. No Smoking, Please.

My family stayed at Beacon Bluff July 2009. It was our first foray to the gulf beaches. My mother, a Carolina native, had always instilled in the children of the family that "the Ocean" was on the east coast of Carolina, and that was that. Sea breezes, big waves and large crowds, that was the beach to us. The rules have changed now after a wonderful week at Beacon Bluff. The second oldest home in the Mexico beach area with the latest modern ammenties. It is in Coastal living Mag and well it should be. Located just across hwy 98 with a clear view of the gulf water from the 57 foot screened porch complete with relaxing chairs a hammock and large picnic table. I must admit I am an internet junky even with paradise at my feet. I spent hours at the picnic table with my laptop and the provided wireless internet and surfed while gazing at the surf. It hardly rained at all that week but with 4 children in our group I could only think how great that huge porch would have been on a rainy day. A modern well outfitted kitchen was there. Three master suites two with king beds and one with a queen bed and all with private baths. One master is right ouf of the 1930's with clawfoot tub and vintage decor, it was our room this week. Another master includes a very large roll in shower, it is fully handicapped accessible. The last master is a quite queen bedroom with its own full bath. Two separate living areas flank the spacious dining area. And a fouth bedroom with an over and under bed for the childred with it's own half bath it just off the main living area. The vaulted ceilings in the kitchen, dining and living area showcase some of the homes antique charm. Original material from the home was re-used during the remodel in order to maintain the feeling that you have stepped back in time. Ok I'm an architecture buff, that aside this was the right way to treat and older home and allow it to take people through the years. We have booked Beacon Bluff the 3rd week in July 2010 and I can hardly wait. Quite relaxing days on the beach and me and the boys, fishing the jetty's, inlets and piers at night makes the forgotten coast vacation one to remember. 13 more days and I'll be there at last.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
