This lovely 1946 stone home features heavily-wooded privacy and serenity situated on nearly 3 acres. There is a small branch, apple orchard, black walnut and chesnut trees, an old barn, covered picnic shed, large mature trees, native rhododendron, mountain laurel, fern and other vegetation.
The home features 4 bedrooms and 2 full tile baths with both tubs and showers. A lovely screened porch welcomes you with rockers, small table with chairs so you may enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast or afternoon cordial and snacks. There is also a covered back patio with gas grill and a separate covered picnic shelter with 2 redwood tables, offering you many options for cookouts and relaxing. You can also hike on the expansive grounds or nearby forests or just chill out and enjoy nature. This home features all hardwood floors and real plaster walls and there is a full basement (freshly painted in August) with washer-dryer.
The entire interior of the home has just been freshly painted throughout. The kitchen has been renovated with new appliances, new lighting, new floor covering and counter-tops, new plumbing, new track lighting, redone cabinets and all new hardware and drawer handles for the cabinets. The downstairs bathroom has also been repainted and new floor covering installed.
Recently, 2 new Trane heat pumps/AC has been installed and there is a Buck Stove in the living room for your winter comfort. A formal dining room is situated just off the kitchen and large living room.
Of course, all utensils, coffee maker, pots and pans, dishes and silverware, microwave, dishwasher, towels, linens and bedding are supplied. Just bring your own food and clothing and you are set to go.
There are queen-sized beds in two (2) of the bedrooms, twin beds in one bedroom adjoining what could be a 'parent's-children's room' (has door in between master and this bedroom to look in on the little ones). Also, there is a double bed in one bedroom and a single-sized sofa sleeper in one of the bedrooms as well. Another bedroom features attractive sitting area with Cable TV, sofa and easy chair. There are 2 bedrooms and a bath upstairs and the same downstairs. The extra large living room features Buck Stove, Cable TV, sofa, two recliners and tables.
Guests: if you are seeking a private getaway but yet wish to be close to conveniences, this may be just what you want. Bring your cell phone (Verizon full-strength here) as we do not have a land-based telephone nor an internet connection for your laptop.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: We live next door in another stone home that we purchased in 1997. My wife is from this area and I am a native of Atlanta. We relocated to the beautiful mountains of western NC in 1992. We also own a lovely beach condo/townhome in Crescent Beach/St. Augustine Beach, FL. That property is also listed on VRBO-Listing # 366518.
Why the Owner Chose Catheys Creek:
We purchased Cherryfield Manor as it is a very unique home, featuring native grey stone, all hardwood floors, real plaster walls and situated on well-wooded, mature forest property. We rent this home only for vacation rental guests.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The primary benefit to this lovely home, we believe, is its pristine setting amid large, mature trees, offering privacy and solitude. Yet, we are less than 2/10ths of a mile from US 64, only 5 miles from downtown Brevard and about 25 miles to the Asheville Regional Airport. It's a great location and if you have time, there are nearly 260 waterfalls in Transylvania County to view, the Pisgah National Forest, DuPont Forest and the Biltmore Estate in Asheville is an easy 45-minute drive.
