Freeport shopping is a short drive. Sandy point beach is about 1 mile away. Put your kayak in across the street and kayac past the many water birds that call this special place home. Jump off the island dock and cool off. Go for a walk and have a picnic at the little john island preserve. Golf is nearby. In the winter there are cross-country trails in yarmouth.

We are currently lucky enough to be staying here at 1 Winter Street. The home is immaculate, well equipped for our needs and the views and location are exquisite. The owners are friendly and available for anything that we need and we will most definately be back. If you are considering this rental, we strongly encourage you to book, we could not wish for a nicer experience. Thank you Tom and Heidi!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is a very new and well built home with a fine view of the waters around the island. The owner is very hospitable and with a few more amenities will have a great rental propertyRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Little John Island is a special place. My wife, 22 mo. old son, and I were able to call it home for year. We rented the Duchesneau’s home as we were both working in the area at the time. We felt then and still feel now so incredibly lucky to have met the Duchesneau’s and to have had the opportunity to live on Little John. The Duchesneau’s are amazing owners. Tom took care of us like we were family. The home is new so there were no major issues to speak but anytime something popped up (such as dead batteries in the smoke alarms) Tom responded to it immediately. The house was perfect for our small family. Our toddler had room to run around inside and an extremely safe and inviting island to roam. The house is located directly across the street from the water so we spent much of our time outdoors (even in the winter). Many nights were spent sitting on the front porch watching the sunset over the water and watching the tide go in and out. Plus, just being able to carry your kayak across the street to put in and not having to load your car up to spend time on the water is an amazing thing. The island is a place like no other, friendly neighbors, beautiful surroundings, and simply quintessential Maine living. We hope to get the chance to be able move back there permanently. About the owner: We have lived on Littlejohn Island for over 30 years. Our rental cottage is next door to our Island residence. We strive to make our guests stay enjoyable. We hope you will enjoy the friendly neighbors and beautiful island surroundings during your stay.
