She is located a short two minute walk to the beach, the C-Shop (candy/ice-cream/bike rental), gourmet coffee shop and unique gift shops.
Five years old and furnished, you will feel that you are staying in a wonderfully, comfortable home away from home.
From the moment that you step onto the laminate floors which flow throughout the home, and realize that the kitchen with a new gas stove is fully equipped for the gourmet cook, you will be under her spell.
The kitchen is open to the vaulted ceiling livingroom. The gorgeous gas river rock fireplace brings warmth in the winter and a great ambiance year round.
The livingroom is a great area for the entertainment centre with surround sound, or for playing a game or putting together one of the many puzzles.
You are sure to enjoy the Comfortable Queen size Cape Cod bed, or the two double sofa beds in the livingroom. The smoke-free cottage sleeps four comfortably and six in a pinch. A full bathroom offers a tub with a shower.
Enjoy outside moments on the deck or the fenced yard. A new barbecue is outside, or take the smaller portable charcoal one to the public beach, or the State Park beach a ten minute walk away, where you can spread out and enjoy larger gatherings, and a beach fire.

Year Purchased: 2003
I was born and raised in Coquitlam, BC Canada and love it! I have had 5 children, and although they don't all live with me now, we all get away together to Birch Bay throughout the year! I have gatherings at the Mermaid Hutch with family and friends and our tails really get flapping as a good time is had by all!
When I was young, my grandparents had a vacation cottage in Birch Bay which my family loved to visit. Later, I would love to come to Grannie and Granda's cottage on my own. I wanted my children to experience the ocean side feeling one day as I had.
Finally in 2003, I bought the cottage, before my last child was born. I was staying at the cottage with my children, the first day I bought it. In the we hours of the night, a large fire started at the home behind, and 3 homes plus a 4th's garage went down. I was so blessed we all got out in time. And double blessed we were able to have a new cottage built with my Mermaid Hutch design and decorating in mind!
I had an earlier career in the Hospitality and Tourism industry, and after starting my family, I became a Realtor in the Tri-Cities area, BC, Canada in 1997, where I still reside and work. I also have a vacation rental, 'The Starlight Suite' in my Coquitlam BC home, which often is rented out to people between homes. I love to travel and have great accomodations where I go, and know how important it also is to my guests.

Really lovely stay. Quiet retreat for a busy Christmas time. Would recommend it to a couple, or small family because of the sofa beds.
Recommended for:Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Our stay here was wonderful. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. The fireplace was so cozy that we even slept on one of the sofa beds in the living room our first night instead of making it to the bedroom. It was a great getaway weekend, despite the fall rain. Communication was very welcoming and effective as well. Down time was just what we needed and this was the perfect spot for it! We'll be back. Thank you!!

It's truely perfect for the two of us. Our weather and your cozy cabin have put a lasting memory of one of the best vacations you could wish for. Every thought we need for comfort was at our finger tips and the best moments weree peace and quiet on the deck in the evening. Thank you so much

For a first visit to BB it was perfect. The cottage was great and only a couple of things weren't perfect! But, overall - a Fab Time! P.S. We will come again!

We had a lovely time with our 4 year old daughter. Great little cottage in a lovely quiet neighbourhood. Look forward to booking the Mermaid Hutch again sometime.
