Cibolo Creek Ranch is a 211-acre suburban ranch estate that has two guesthouses available for visitors. The Ranch is close enough to San Antonio (30 minutes) to enjoy its amenities but far enough away to give you a rural, calm and five degree cooler experience in the foothills of the Texas Hill Country. Both guesthouses are fully equipped homes.
You are invited to kick back in a rocking chair on the enormous front porch in front of the headquarters, relax to the sound of the swimming pool’s waterfall, and watch the antics of the migratory hummingbirds. You can, if you wish, help us with caring for our horses in the morning. Our pool and its setting is lovely, and you have the land available to take long, uninterrupted walks on land that has been ranched since before Texas was a state, and is now a private wildlife preserve.
We offer guided nature walks with the owner, who is well versed on the habits of the animals that live on, and pass through, the ranch. While you are visiting you might see whitetail deer, armadillos, feral hogs, porcupines, Mexican eagles and many other native animals and birds. We are also down the road the Tejas Rodeo, a rollicking authentic Saturday night neighborhood rodeo that is wonderful family fun.You can be as involved as you wish with the goings on of the ranch, or just kick back by the pool and relax.
The nightly price applies to each whole centrally air-conditioned house, which can sleep no more than six.
The two story house, located next to the headquarters, has an upstairs master suite that takes up the entire second story, with windows that overlook the swimming pool and deer and wild turkey crossing the pastures below. If you have more than 6, or don't need a two story home, the other guesthouse on the property , "The Cottage.", which was built around 1890, rents separately for $175 a night. Both houses together comfortably accommodate 11 adults, 12 if one is a child who doesn't mind sleeping in a top bunk.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1999

Roy Adell and Camilla Ritchey, married 39 years, have hitchhiked around the world, lived in the San Antonio area for 46 years for Cam and 38 years for Roy. Besides running the ranch, Roy is a remodeling general contractor. Cam is a real estate broker and runs a private investment business. They have two grown, utterly marvelous children.

Why the Owner Chose San Antonio

Cam searched for ten years for this property. It was not purchased to become a vacation rental. We joined VRBO to utilize our own guesthouses for the times that we did not have family and friends visiting.

The Unique Benefits of this Country House / Chateau

We spend every morning on our front porch, working on our laptops, listening to the swimming pool's waterfall and watching hummingbirds. We enjoy the utter quiet at night, the 5 degrees cooler temperatures than in San Antonio, being close enough to run into the big city for an errand or entertainment. We can take a very long walk and not run into a soul.

A quiet gateway very close to San Antonio, and awsome hosts

Date of Stay: 05/27/11 Review Submitted: 08/29/11

Living in Texas for few years we wanted to offer our family coming from France a typical getaway here. And we were very enthusiastic. The property is a very beautiful place, very quiet, lost in the country, but very close to San Antonio (less than 1/2 hour to Alamo). The house was nice (the pictures don't do it justice), we were able to hike the property with the kids, and it was wonderful refreshing in the pool after a whole day visiting. We had fun at the Tejas rodeo company, appreciated it to be next door. But the best of all were the way our hosts, Roy and Camilla, took care of us. They made us feeling very welcomed and comfortable and we really enjoyed sharing our travel experiences. Our 2 daughters (8 and 6) could not wait to help Cammy grooming the horses every morning and learning about nature. They did not want to leave the ranch! Thank you for all these wonderful memories.

My family and I were very happy to stay in Cibolo creek. The oweners are very nice people and they did everything possible to make us feel welcomed. Very quiet place. My children fell in love with owener's dogs and horses. If we will ever come back to San Antonio we'll stay only in Cibolo creek.

wonderful place to stay!

Guest: Eric, Yadira, Vanessa and Jessica (Dallas, TX)
Date of Stay: 07/01/11 Review Submitted: 07/12/11

Roy and Cammy (owners) are the nicest people who take great pride in their property and it shows! They made our stay a memorable experience that we will never forget. It's only a short drive from all the attractions in San Antonio but just far enough away so you can enjoy a peaceful sunset or take a walk around their beautiful ranch property and enjoy the scenery and Texas wildlife. Our daughters got to help feed and groom the horses every morning (which made their day!) before we headed into town...and we were greeted by wild deer in the evening as we drove up the long driveway! Amazing!! The armadillo eluded us but we will definitely be back again for another visit. Thank you!!!
