Aloha and Welcome to our Polynesian tropical cottage! The moment you enter this truly Hawaiian home you will experience the feeling of Aloha. Perched on top of an extinct volcano, amongst 7 acres of lush, tropical landscape - overgrown with tropical flowers, trees , palms - the cottage feels more like a home inside a botanical garden rather then your typical condo.
Bright, open and full of tropical breeze this truly unique place has all that you might need to feel you ARE on vacation. Very private, the cottage has a spacious covered lanai ( deck - perfect to enjoy your morning coffee , afternoon drink or all of your meals ) , open living,dinning and kitchen area. Exceptionally furnished with Hawaiian furniture and artwork. Beautiful garden view throughout. Upstairs, there is a spacious , private master suite with its own bathroom - a king size bed with luxury mattress and bedding. Our cottage includes TV, telephone, wireless internet, washer and dryer, plenty beach towels, boogie boards, beach chairs an ice chests.

( As there are not that many cottages the pool os very often quiet and you will find many times that you can have it all to yourself. ) There is also a tennis court for those who enjoy the sport and for golfers a very short drive ( 5 min ) to the best golf courses on Kauai.

Really enjoyed our stay at Poipu Crater last week. The property is newly renovated, tastefully decorated, and well maintained. Air condition was only missed the first night - evening breezes cooled down the house nicely all week. Iwona left us some lovely Hawaiian treats as well as ample beach gear to borrow and a map to get to nearby beaches which was really helpful! Pro tip: stock up at the Lihue Costco or the Community College Saturday farmers market on local fruits and veggies. It was great having a blender in the kitchen for smoothies and use of the grills by the pool! Overall the property is in a great location yet tucked away from the really populated resorts and mega condo complexes. Would stay again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

this cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished.a great home base.the small supermarket and wine shop in koloa are great. find secret beach.go to mahalapua beach 15 min away to snorke. alohaRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Spent 2 great weeks here. Unit is on the side of the crater that gets shade in the afternoon so was never too hot. Also it is close to the pool and private. Interior was very clean and well kept up. Poipu crater is located only a short 5 minute walk to the beach. There are plenty of stores within a short driving distance so groceries easy to get. The unit is also well equipped for cooking and provides most needed condiments. There were 2 couples here and we had plenty of space.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

The condo is great: new, clean, beautifully furnished, kitchen better equipped than mine at home, wonderful view of the mature landscape of the crater. We loved staying in! The only minus is that the condo is in a crater, which means you have to walk up a steep road and roll down to Poipu Beach from there. The walk was only 15 minutes but we ended up driving back because we were exhausted pushing our stroller uphill (we have a 2 year old). Iwona was extremely helpful accomodating us with our toddler and provided a pack-n-play, highchair and some advice on kid-friendly activities (e.g., 9 am koi fish feeding at Tidepools Restaurant at the Grand Hyatt). Mahalo!Recommended for: Sightseeing.

This is a truly wonderful condo in a lovely setting in Poipu. It felt very tropical and secluded being down in the crater with all the beautiful plants and birds and the ocean breeze. The condo was immaculate and everything appeared to be recently updated. The bed was super comfortable and we enjoyed hanging out on the lanai. It was a nice 15 minute stroll to the beach but we also enjoyed hanging out poolside at the condo. The water temp was cold, but my 5 year old didn't seem to notice! We hope to come back again next winter:)Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This was such a great property but even more - it was a great home for our stay! The condo is very beautiful and it had everything we needed for our long weekend stay. The kitchen has very nice appliances and you know that thought went into all of the details. Iwona was extremely helpful with suggestions and ensuring we had everything we needed while we where there. She was also wonderful to work with while we were planning our time in Kauai. She made me feel very comfortable with the details we worked out before we arrived. The location is fantastic and central to restaurants, beaches - walking or driving. The condo is extremely comfortable and I would stay here over and over again. This was a lovely home and a wonderful experience. We look forward to coming back again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My sister and I enjoyed our stay in Poipu. At the time of booking, the online photos had not been updated. We were blown away by the beauty and comfort of the unit. It is tastefully decorated with high end finished. The beds were so comfortable it was as good as sleeping in my own bed. We enjoyed the constant daytime noises created by the birds in the crater. Our favorite activity while on Kauai was the zip line tour based in Koloa. Totally awesome. Brennecke's restraunt is just a 15 minute walk and they have a great menu including a variety of seafood. I will plan on staying in the same unite on my next visit to Kauai. I'd like to thank the owner for providing a wonderful place for visitors to the island.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Beautifully furnished, super clean and so comfortable. You can see Iwona put a lot of love and care in making this such a beautiful home. This was our 6th trip to Kauai but first time in Poipu. We are so glad we found Iwona and her wonderful house in Poipu Crater. It is beautifully situated, near several best beaches on the southern shore of the island. The house is newly renovated with new, modern furniture, fully equipped kitchen, large screen TV, boogie boards and beach chairs, not to mention the super comfortable beds (I wish I had a bed like this at home!). The fresh flowers, fruits, and macadamia nuts were such a nice and unexpected touch, Iwona was a wonderful and welcoming host. The beaches were spectacular, visited by sea turtles and monk seals. The weather was surprisingly warm and gorgeous, considering it was the middle of December. We enjoyed basking in the sun, dining at Tortilla Republic, having fresh sushi and fish at Dolphin and healthy food choices at Living Foods Market. There are many great places to see just a short drive from Poipu, Waimea Canyon is amazing, with lots of hiking trails, the beginning of Na Pali Coast with the famous Kalalau lookout is breathtaking. And if you don't mind driving a few miles on a dirt road, be sure to visit Barking Sands beach - spectacular!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Great Condo walkable to Poipu beach, complete with furnished Linai and fast internet. Nicely decorated with a true Island feel. About the owner: Hello , my name is Iwona Szajer and live on Kauai. I am originally from Poland and my husband is from Germany. We call ourselves 'gypsies' as we live in many beautiful places , and yet Kauai is always home. I arrived on Kauai in 1991 and I have made it a home for the girls. They have gone to schools here and they consider this Kauai home.Tatjana , the eldest, lives on Oahu but ultimately wants to be back on Kauai. Ariella in still in school at John Hoppkins and is hoping to one day do good for humankind :-) Daniel , our son has just entered Kindergarten here on the island. We love what Kauai has given us...someone said to us once that moving here has given them an extra 10 years of life...we don't know about that , but what this place has given 'us' is many wonderful memories...we love the life style here...we hope to share some of it with you.
Why the Owner Chose Poipu Crater:
We have lived and owned the adjacent unit since 1994. It was always our wish to buy this adjacent unit as it would be perfect for a 'bigger' family. It is perfect for a small family but also if more family comes we can still be together but separate
When I moved for good to Kauai in 1994 I searched for a place that would have a 'blend' of many things. I wanted a great location, a safe place for the girls to be outside, a place where I could enjoy running and hiking. A place that was private and yet where I could meet people. After many visits I found Poipu Crater and it was PERFECT! I truly felt ( and still do ) that this is Poipu's little secret . My friends and neighbors use to say that all the time. So many people in Poipu don't even know that this place exist. Before I bought this cottage, I have lived in few other units and ultimately made the decision to buy the one that I currently own. I made that decision because of the location. My unit is truly in the BEST location. I have the morning sun - I can have my breakfast on the lanai ( it's still not too hot ) and in the afternoon am able to enjoy the outside as well . My unit is perched on top of the Crater and because of its unique location it is comfortable all year round. The morning sun warms it up in the morning , the prevailing trade winds keep it cool all day and I have no or very little mosquito's! It's these small things that one can only find out after truly 'living' in the place and because I had the chance to 'try' other cottages and was lucky to be there at the time when I had choices. I chose this particular one because it is the BEST! I have LIVED there and raised my girls there for 8 years. My husband and I always envisioned ourselves retiring here...but as our family grew we had to find a bigger place. We still have a long ways to retirement , especially now with our 5 year old, but at least we have the knowledge that one day if not us, the girls will be back in 'their' home.
