Splendid Provencal Villa with Air-Conditoning and Heated Pool

You will find Villa Indigo in the heart of the Alpilles hills of Southern France. It has four air-conditioned bedrooms, sleeping 10 people. The villa has been designed in the style of a traditional Provencal bastide, and is part of a private estate with an other house, close to the old centre of Saint Rémy de Provence.
The town is in the heart of the beautiful Alpilles hills, surrounded by the sights and scents of Provence, and the pure light and colour, which has long attracted writers and artists of all kinds, as well as those who prefer a more relaxed pace of life. St Remy has its own air of quiet chic, elegant shops, and a number of restaurants, little squares with ancient fountains, and shady cafes terraces.
Nostradamus was born here, and Van Gogh found all the inspiration he needed here, painting more than a hundred and fifty pictures in the countryside around. Many of the places depicted in his paintings remain much as they were then.
The villa is set privately in its own garden within the estate, which is surrounded by old olive groves, hedges and scented trees and plants. It has four bedroom, two on the ground floor, two upstairs, each with private shower rooms, and lovely views of the hills from the upstairs rooms. The two double, and the two twin-rooms, have been individually decorated in a Provencal style and the whole house is air-conditioned.
The living room is comfortably furnished, and has a fireplace, a large satellite television screen, DVD and stereo. The kitchen is typically Provencal and well equipped, with a large fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, and dishwasher, and opens onto a covered terrace, where there is a barbecue, and table and chairs. There is also laundry room with a washing machine.
There is a private swimming pool in a lovely, shady setting, which has a security alarm, sunbeds, and garden furniture scattered under the trees. Outside lights softly illuminate the whole property in the evenings, and there is a double parking in the garage.
Saint Rémy has a golf course, as well as, tennis courts and riding stables. You can also go fishing or gliding, and there are endless places to walk or cycle through the hills and discover for yourself, unspoiled, tucked away areas.
Glanum, just outside Saint Rémy is one of the most important Roman archeological sites in Provence. Founded 300 BC, it reveals a civilization that influences life here even today.
You can see thermal baths, an avenue of houses, the temple and the natural spring, and the remains of a Gallo-Roman town dating 30-10 BC. On the road leaving Glanum are the ancient Arc de Triomphe and Les Antiquities, the gateway to Glanum, standing as they have since that time. Close by is St Paul de Mausole, where Van Gogh spent his last days.
From there it is only a short drive through the hills to Les Beaux, an ancient village perched high on the rocks, once one of the most celebrated and brilliant of the troubadour courts of love in the Middle Ages, now romantically ghostly.
The villa is also at the centre of the Baux de Provence and Côteaux d'Aix vineyards and not far from Château Neuf du Pape.
It is important to note that Airports Marseille Internationa is only eighty kilometres, Avignon is twenty kilometres, car rental is available. Road Paris/Saint Rémyisis six hours, Rail Avignon (TGV Paris/Avigno) is two hours and forty-five minutes and twenty kilometres, rental car is available.
For a French vacation you will not soon forget, our villa is a place you have dreamed about, and you will not be disappointed!

Villa Indigo and neighbouring Mas Garrance are beautiful villas in a quiet rural setting ,yet only 15 minutes walk from the vibrant centre of St Remy de Provence. The properties are well equipped and maintained to a very high standard. The large garden and swimming pool are safe for young children and make the villa an excellent place to relax and enjoy the Provencal sunshine.St Remy is well equipped with shops restaurants and cafes and has a great market every week. The listing photos and description of the properties accurately reflected the appearance and amenities although " sleeping 12/13" would be a squeeze! St Remy is superbly located for visiting Avignon,Arles Nimes and beyond. The owner's local agent was helpful but always appeared in a hurry and spoke virtually no English which would be difficult for visitors who did not speak French. The overall experience was superb and I would have no hesitation in recommending the properties to a friend.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Michael, thanks for your review, I hope to see you again in the next uears !

Our family had such a wonderful time that our 3 1/2 yr old daughter Avery, said (and still say) "I love 'My' house in France." The size of the Villa was more than accomodating for my husband, our 2 children (Avery & Connor); my sister, her husbad, their 1 yr old daughter, Amelia; and my parents! The villa was utterly picturesque, especially the outdoor kitchen, dining, lounging area that overlooked the magnificent yard with lavenders and roses. This is where we pretty much spent most of our time...basking in the beauty and serenity; and taking a nice dip in the pool - probably one of the more happier momments of our trip! Our children had an amazing time walking to and through the market with the shops, cobblestones, and warm people. The Villa and Provance is experience our children will look forward to for years to come! See you in a couple years! Cheers, FionaRecommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Fiona ! i hope to see you again in 2014 !!

We had a fabulous week at Villa Indigo! The location is terrific and made a great home base. The short 10 minute walk into the center of St. Remy was a pleasure, and the town itself is fun and full of character (don't miss market day on Wednesday morning), with an incredible number of good restaurants for its size. Given the number of must-see sights within an easy 30 minute drive (Avignon, Arles, Les Baux, etc.), we only just scratched the surface during our one week stay. The house is beautiful, spacious, well-maintained, very private, and laid out very nicely -- in short, it was everything we would have hoped for based on the listing. We loved having the outdoor kitchen and dining area, and the kids had a great time in the heated pool even though it was still only the first week of April. Celine was extremely responsive and very helpful in getting everything organized. It was very easy to feel at home there, and we would love to go back.Owner response: Mark, I'm happy to see your review, I always make my best so that their holidays are the best they can have...I'll be happy to see see again at Villa Indigo ! This beautiful holiday property is surrounded by a large mature and well kept garden to which the photos on the website do not do justice. The villa itself is well furnished and offers space and comfort. We particularly enjoyed the covered terrace for shade and outdoor dining. Saint Remy offers a sense of history and excellent bars and restaurants. We would certainly like to return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Many thanks Margaret.

For the 3rd time in 4 years we stayed in the lovely Villa Indigo and again had a superb time. Nicely situated in a quiet area just on the edge of the town of St Remy de Provence with an array of fine restaurants, we visited the Camargue, Avignon, Chateuneuf du Pape this time and you are also close to Les Baux, Arles, Nimes, Pont du Gard, Orange etc etc.. The villa is luxurious - 4 beautiful bedrooms with en-suite and air-conditioning, excellent pool and very large gardens. As soon as we arrive we feel at home and every time we have generally had good weather - apart from one bad day this year we had sunshine. We will definitely be back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Hi Irving thank you so much for your review i'd be happy to welcome you one more time in my villa. Best Regards
