What a wonderful place to stay! I could not have been happier or more comfortable. This cozy little cottage was exactly what I was looking for. It was so pretty and filled with natural light. I loved all the windows. One afternoon I opened the double doors onto the porch, pulled up a chair and enjoyed the warm sunshine with a view of Mt. Sneffles thru the trees. The street out front is very quiet with very little traffic. I was in Ridgway to visit my son who lives just 3 blocks away. Great location . . . we walked everywhere! We walked to the Colorado Boy Brewery for pizza and beer, the Sherbino Theatre, Kate's Place for breakfast, True Grit for a meal and to friends house for Easter dinner. We walked out in the country down along the Uncompahgre River looking for the eagles. I especially appreciated the "bench and boot" changing area downstairs the day I came in with muddy boots. We went snowmobiling in Silverton and that night enjoyed a soothing soak just a mile or 2 down the road at Orvis Hot Springs. Without a doubt, one of the best things about the Stone House Cottage were my hosts, Bob and Darlene and little Tilly! They are the real treasure here! I could not have met a more friendly or helpful couple. They are true locals and are a wealth of information and stories. Make sure you take the time to get to know them. I can't wait to return and bring my husband!

The cottage is perfect in every way......exquisite hand crafted furnishings, great size for 2, and nice amenities. The best part of our trip was meeting our hosts Bob and Darlene. We enjoyed sharing stories with them and will certainly be back!

My fiancée and I stayed at The Stone House Cottage for a quick weekend trip to Ridgway. Bob and Darlene were absolutely fantastic hosts. They accommodated us with a last minute booking, late evening arrival and were great hosts throughout our stay. The cottage itself is well thought out and meticulously designed. It is located just a block or two away from the center of town, so everything is within a short walk. There's really nothing more we could have asked for. We will absolutely be back!

My husband and I spend a wonderful ‘getaway’ weekend in Ridgway at the Stone House Cottage this winter. The Stone House Cottage is a beautiful storybook place to stay and perfectly situated to enjoy Ridgway Colorado. The accommodations have the charm of old world Europe, with modern day amenities and comforts. The bed is exceptionally comfortable and the furnishings are immaculate and tasteful. Situated on a large corner lot among tall trees, the Stone House Cottage is located in a park-like setting, adjacent to the owners’ home. The cottage is within easy walking distance of good restaurants, an excellent brew pub, and the newly renovated Sherbino Theater. Walking everywhere was a delight! The owners, Bob and Darlene, are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcomed. We only ventured out with our car to take in the Ouray Hot Springs, located nearby. We will be back, and hope to enjoy this lovely place again in all seasons.

If aesthetics are important to you, you will love The Stone House Cottage. We spent 2 months there while visiting family and loved every minute of it! It is exceptionally well-designed and is beautifully appointed as well as immaculate. The queen bed is extremely comfortable; the kitchen and bathroom are very functional and well-furnished. There is additional storage in the apartment and, with the garage for our car and storage, we had more than enough room. Ridgway has several good restaurants, a noted brew pub and a very handy grocery store all within walking distance from The Stone House Cottage. Mountain Market has very good prepared foods and has about anything you will need. There is much to do in the area: hiking, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, biking, flyfishing, sightseeing and the San Juan and Cimarron Mountains are magnificent. Bob and Darlene are very friendly, helpful and a joy to be with. They know Southwest Colorado and can guide you to the best trails, ski areas, etc. We will stay at the Stone House Cottage again and highly recommend it to anyone who needs a place to stay in the Ridgway area. Next time we hope to visit in warmer weather when we can enjoy sitting outside under the trees, grilling and get some jeeping in.

                      Owner info

                      Year Purchased: 1992

About the owner: Darlene and I are true locals having grown up in Ouray and Ridgway. We spent our early married years in the Denver area and after 10 yrs. decided that we wanted to leave the fast paced urban lifestyle and return to a more tranquil mountain setting. Ridgway was the perfect choice. We have been knocking around the southwest for 30 years now and have extensive knowledge of SW Colorado and also Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. We are people oriented and enjoy sharing our knowledge of the hidden gems of the southwest with others. As much as we love the natural beauty of the area we also feel lucky to live in a community with a very diverse mix of great people. We wake up every day thankful for where we live.

                      Why the Owner Chose Ridgway:
We purchased this property in 1990 when we discovered it located in the old historic residential district of Ridgway. It had never been built upon and had old growth trees and shrubs throughout. We knew that it would be perfect for a private cottage style home to be situated on . The grounds have nice areas for lounging, reading or cocktails. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe with little traffic. We are located 2 blocks from the Historic Business District which includes Kates Resturant (voted #1 in Ridgway) 2 blocks from The Colorado Boy Brewpub, well known for it's great brews and Pizzas and is a spirited locals hangout. Also close by is the new Sherbino Theatre being renovated for film and live music.

The Unique Benefits at this Studio:
We are located 45 minutes from Telluride and its world class ski area. Telluride is also known for its year round festivals. Bluegrass, Blues & Brews, Jazz and Film to name a few. Ouray Colorado 'The Switzerland of America' is 15 minutes south and has fantastic hiking, biking, ice climbing and soaking in it's hot springs pool. The outdoor activities are endless in this area. Come and enjoy.
