We were so very fortunate to find this absolute gem!! We had such a wonderful family holiday at Loon Song Lodge! The photos of this property looked fantastic but honestly it is even better in person. I can't even begin to describe the peace and tranquility of Ashley Lake and this beautiful home. It is by far the best property we have ever stayed at with VRBO and we have stayed at several! We wanted for absolutely nothing the entire week we were there. Our hosts, Kit & Shelby, were so gracious and helpful and were even kind enough to load our groceries into their SUV to take up to the Lodge when we first arrived in Kalispell! We look forward to many more family vacations at Loon Song Lodge. My most favorite memory was kayaking on Ashley Lake at sunset with my mom-will forever be etched in my mind. Also, my 18 year old daughter, loved it more than Hawaii, which is where we have spent many family summer vacations-I think that says it all!!!! Thank you so, so very much Kit & Shelby for sharing your piece of Paradise with us!!!

The lodge was the perfect setting for our family reunion. Everything we needed to make the week special was available to us. A beautiful setting, one that we plan to return to someday soon.

I just wanted to say thank you and that we had a wonderful time at the lake this past week. The house was a perfect fit for the families and my mom and dad had a wonderful 40th anniversary surrounded by their kids and grandkids. A favorite was the floating dock and the paddle boat. I loved pedaling out to the little cove in the reeds and showing the kids the fish all around us. It was also nice to be able to dock our boat so that it was at the ready for all the wakeboarding, surfing and tubing that everyone enjoyed. The mink was a real treat for all of us as well. Totally unexpected to see him go loping over the dock and past the fire pit. He was gorgeous. The games in the house were games we all enjoyed and we were pleasantly surprised by the movie selection that contained many of the latest releases along with the great classics. It is a wonderful place to vacation and we hope to do it again next year with the other side of the family.

AMAZING PLACE FOR A REAL VACATION!
AMAZING PLACE FOR A REAL VACATION!
We just left Loon Song Lodge this past weekend and I’ve looked at the personal family pictures we took of this beautiful places many times since, longing to be back there. The lodge and it’s surrounding area is more lovely and tranquil than pictures can portray. My husband and I along with our two children from Atlanta, my in-laws from Seattle, and my brother-in-law with his two boys from San Francisco all met up here for a week’s vacation with intent to visit and hike in Glacier National Park. Upon arrival at this lodge we soon realized this place was a ‘haven’ for relaxation and family time. The layout/size of the house was perfect for the 9 people we had staying there. We spent a day in Glacier National Park, a day in Big Fork, a day at Whitefish Ski Resort, a half day horseback riding at Lonesome Dove Ranch (very close by) and other than that we enjoyed just being together at the lodge while swimming and boating in the lake, sitting on the balconies with coffee in the mornings and drinks in the evenings looking out at the lake, making smores around the firepit and relaxing. We’ve taken several vacations as a family renting places in many different states… but this place provided the best in everything we could have ever asked for… service (owners are amazingly accommodating & friendly), accommodations (beds are comfy, lodge is spotless, kitchen is amazingly stocked with cooking utensils and condiments, bathrooms are well supplied with towels and hairdryers, and the lodge has so many DVDs, board games, pool table, foosball that the kids never run out of things to do), and on top of it all the lake is breathtaking with its’ turquoise clear water and cool breeze constantly blowing straight through the lodge when the doors and windows are open. And best of all – NO BUGS! We were there at the end of July when it should have been the hottest and buggiest, but we certainly never even put on bug spray or needed air conditioning as the entire lodge has shade with the perfect breeze off the water making it very comfortable in the afternoons and actually light jacket weather in the evenings/nights. We even turned on the living room fire stove in the mornings to add ambiance and get the chill out. If you are going to the NW Montana area, I’d highly recommend staying on Ashley Lake – it’s quiet and secluded yet one of the most peaceful settings one could hope for on a vacation. And Loon Song Lodge is one of the pretty places to stay on the lake.

We enjoyed our stay at Loon Song Lodge very much. This was a big time trip for a group from Cleveland, OH. My wife and I looked like we knew what we were doing because everything exceeded our expectations. Our first hint was the drive up to the lodge through the evergreen foothills on a dirt road. We had our 5 kids in tow ages 14 to 21 years. Everyone had fun and there was always something to do. The kids made good use of the lake from canoeing to using the john boat for fishing. Our boys caught over 50 Kokonee Salmon on Ashley Lake. We had an Osprey stay in the backyard one afternoon until it was chased off by angry gulls. Only one rainy day decended upon us and we spent time teaching the kids how to play card games like Euchre and Hearts and enjoying the lodges many board games. One day we rented a 19 foot boat from Wild Waves in Flathead (they gave us a hitch for our Suburban rental) and had a blast on Lake Ashley - they let me keep it overnight for no extra charge. Most other days were spent horseback riding at Artemis Acres, zip-lining at Whitefish mountain resort, dining out at Ciao Mamba in Whitefish (good Italian food), Whitewater rafting at Wild River Rafting outfitters, and touring the Glacier National Park for two full days with numerous hikes throughout the park - one leg was to Sperry's Chalet a 3,500 vertical hike over 6.4 miles each way where the last two miles were through 6 feet of hardpack snow. We were greeted at the top by two moutain goats and a park ranger. On top of Glacier park we spotted Big Horn sheep and a black bear, and more mountain goat. At the entrance to the park we spotted a Bald Eagle and landed some exceptional photos. If your going to this area you must try some Huckleberry Pie. We went to Luna's in East Glacier to get some Huckleberry pie and some Montana Traders coffee. All told our stay was exceptional and we'd do it again. I'll be back in the winter to ski Whitefish Resort with friends from Cleveland.

My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary with a trip west. We spent a full week at Loon Lake Lodge. How peaceful! The lodge was so comfortable and classy, with western ambiance and that amazing turquoise green lake just outside the door. In addition to the various dragonflies, butterflies, ducks and squirrels, we saw a Golden Eagle and a Bald Eagle while we were there! I totally enjoyed the paddle boat. Glacier National Park and White Fish were easy to get to form the lodge. I even found an awesome Yarn Store in Kalispell! Kit and Shelby were the ultimate hosts, leaving us on our own after making sure we had everything we needed. Being so far from home, it was great to know they were only a phone call away if we needed them. Everything was perfect! Thanks! Ruth (and Bob)

Beautiful, wonderful property!
Beautiful, wonderful property!
Our family spent one week here and travelled into Glacier National Park several times too. Sometimes it was difficult to decide to leave the beautiful spot on Ashley Lake to go out and about. The scenery is so wonderful and there are so many things to do here with the boats, games, fire pit and more. The kitchen is especially well supplied so that "eating in" is so easy and enjoyable. There are something like 100 videos here too, if you have any rainy days. Kit and Shelby are wonderful and willing to help in any way. Our teenagers are already talking about our next trip there! Thank you for this wonderful week in this special place!

We had a great time in this beautiful lakeside property. We drove there on a dark, rainy night and the owner actually met us in Kalispell and personally led us to the cabin to make sure we could find it in those conditions. Everything was as we had hoped it would be. Its a very clean, relaxing, enjoyable place to stay.

From the minute we met the owners and pulled up to the Lodge we knew we had stumbled upon a gem. As a bonus met some very quality people! The property itself was well stocked, clean as a whistle, and very well laid out for family living! We landed, unloaded and proceeded to enjoy all this pristine lake and surrounding area had to offer. Our three kids (15,13 and 6) waterskied/ tubed the glass water, and trail rode the back woods. We were even able to rent a jet ski which was delivered to us on the lake! The lawn area next to the lake allowed for family play next to the water and our boat was right there for us any time we wanted to enjoy the lake. We are a very active family, but also enjoyed the sounds of the Loons and watching the lake change it's complextion with the weather.

Loon Song Lodge, beautiful in itself, looks out on a lovely lake view that changes with each moment -- a picture that would be the envy of the greatest artists. During our one week stay at the lodge, it could have comfortably accommodated four or five more that the nine people in our group. The Montana décor from the comfortable log beds, attractive family room furniture, well equipped kitchen, to the wildlife pictures on the walls complemented the panorama of lake and wooded hills. All contributed to our relaxing, peaceful visit to Ashley Lake with its loons and other waterfowl.
