Confluence house description
The Yough Riverhouse (YRH) is a new vacation rental by the owners of the Yough Treehouse (listing #306834).
Located in the town of Confluence, near Lucky Dog Cafe and Riversport--in the heart of the Laurel Highlands Mountains.
YRH sits on 55 acres of land along the Youghiogheny River, within walking distance to town and next to the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail.
YRH has a large yard, relaxing front porch with adirondack chairs, a side porch with a gas grill and picnic tables, large flat, shaded additional picnic area and easy access to the newly landscaped riverfront for fishing or lounging with a fire ring and benches.
The house is 3000 sq feet and features a spacious living room with beautiful stone fireplace, drawing room with hard wood floors, dining room, full kitchen and mud room. There are 3 full bathrooms, one downstairs and 2 up. All 5 bedrooms upstairs have window a/c units. There is: a Master bedroom with king (and a double), 3 rooms with queens and 1 room with twins. There is 1 small additional sleep space with a double futon downstairs for non stair climbing guests.
Enjoy the natural beauty of the area relaxing on front porch overlooking the river. Listen for geese, ducks and other birds. Fly fish for trout in the well stocked tailwaters of the dam in the front yard. Watch for heron, osprey or if you are lucky the bald eagles.
Make a day swimming and boating at the Yough Lake. Take a break from your ride through from DC to Pittsburgh on the bike trail or spend the day biking shorter routes to nearby Ohiopyle, Connellsville, Rockwood or Meyersdale. Make this the perfect retreat for trips to the 2 Frank Lloyd Wright homes (Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob) nearby. We are centrally located to the ski resorts (Wisp in Deep Creek, Seven Springs & Hidden Valley) and 20 min from Nemacolin Resort. Enjoy rafting, canoeing and kayaking right out our door-or for more adventure in nearby Ohiopyle or Friendsville, MD.
The YRH is ideal for a big or multi family vacation, friends getaway or a family reunion.

Owners were extremely easy and pleasant to deal with and property was great. Booking the rental was so easy and very prompt responses to our questions! Location is fantastic and there was tons of room for all of us...party of 5 adults and 3 kids coming from 3 different locations for a family getaway...we loved the space, the bike trail, and close proximity to ohiopyle and town. our favourite space was the large porch! thank you so much for an excellent stay and thanks so much for getting the a/c units in each of the bedrooms! we only wish we could've stayed longer!!!!! Thanks for a great stay and we look forward to renting from you again in the future!

Owner response: So glad to hear that you all had a great time. "We should have stayed longer" is my favorite 'complaint' to hear--and we can help you with that! And of course with any other 'real' complaint. We'd love to have you all back.

About the owner: I was born in Confluence and grew up kayaking the rivers and playing in the mountains. After getting married, my husband and I settled in Confluence and continued to enjoy the outdoors, started a business and raised 2 sons here. In 2010 we moved to nearby Morgantown, WV but didn't want to part with our home, so we started a vacation rental. The best part about owning vacation rental homes is that it allows us to share the wonders of the Laurel Highlands with others.
Why the Owner Chose Confluence:
The Riverhouse is spacious and can accommodate multiple families. There is a large yard and easy access to the river. With the riverfront landscaped, we can accommodate small events, weddings or reunions. We also own the 50 acres of hillside adjacent the property. We are currently working on protecting it and building hiking trails.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The Riverhouse has a fantastic, spacious downstairs. The stone fireplace in the living room is beautiful, there are hardwood floors in the drawing room and plenty of room and seating for everyone to be comfortable. The view of the river and the amazing Oak tree from the front porch is outstanding. One step out of the car from a long drive and instantly you are on vacation! Don't forget the convenience to town, the quiet, the surrounding woods, strolling down to Lucky Dog Cafe for lunch or dinner, drinking coffee while reading the paper on the porch, basically no traffic on our one lane road, the eagles, heron and osprey, the fishing and the proximity to the bike trail, oh and the river!
