We found this great, spacious cabin to be very cozy and suited our family perfectly. Our Border Collie (we crate her in the house at home too) loved the woods and the creek below. We hiked all over and found future surprises that the owner was building. The kitchen was well-prepared, the beds large and comfortable and the basement had ping pong, Wii and foosball. Bring your Wii games! No worries about firewood unless you want to use the firepit outside as the fireplace inside is gas / remote! Blowing Rock is convenient with great dining and Appalachian Ski is 15 min away. We were going to Ski Sugar the last day but opted to just relax and enjoy the cabin. The hosts were great and responsive and since there is a lockbox, leaving is as simple as running the dishes and start the sheets in the washer- simple. There is satellite and wireless internet as well as a good library of videos, books, and games. We found that next time, we could share it with another family with plenty of room.

What an amazing weekend for our family. Our children range form 17-23....all girls and they had a blast. We loved the cabin and all the ammenities. We laughed for hours around the fire and made so many awesome memories. Kim and I have always come up by ourselves, and decided to invite the girls. BEST decesion we ever made. Loved walking in the woods and the cabin and the fire and the sleeping arrangements. We brought all the food and did not want to leave. We look forward to coming again next year! Thanks Bob & Beth for a great weekend! P.S......the dogs did NOT want to leave :) We would move in tomorrow and never leave......

We spent a wonderful week at A Cabin in the Woods and it was just plain awesome. My husband and our two dogs had a great time! We saw turkeys on the first and second days and a deer on our last evening at the cabin. The dogs LOVED running around on the 22-acre grounds! The cabin had everything we needed and was in great proximity to Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge Pkwy. which made it easy to go out for a day of hiking. Sitting on the porch and hearing the stream below was so relaxing...so was the fire pit. It was so calm being secluded but yet so close to conveniences and local stores. We definitly will make this an annual trip! We hated to leave but cannot wait to return! Thanks Beth and Bob, your hospitality was wonderful and we can't wait to see you next year!!

We spent the most wonderful month in "The Cabin in the Woods". The comfort and location provided a perfect spot to escape the heat of July. The owners were extremely helpful and gracious. Our dog was a welcomed guest and he found "the dog within"while running through the creek and the woods. We hated to leave this lovely spot and certainly would return at a moment's notice. I would recommend this home to anyone who wants to enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful area.

My daughter and I and our two rescued dogs stayed at A Cabin in the Woods the last week of June 2010. It was just what we hoped for and we had a wonderful stay and can't wait to return. The cabin is just beautiful and secluded yet close to Blowing Rock and Boone. Bob Vonnegut was kind enough to drop in on us the first day and took us on a mini hike of the property. He could not have been nicer. This is truly a special place and we feel lucky to have found it.

Excellent property. Loved the trails and the creek on the property. Sitting around the campfire every night was a family favorite. Kids enjoyed the ping pong and the foosball and had plenty of room in the loft. Adults enjoyed relaxing on the porch. Kitchen not as well stocked as I would have liked, but it had essentials. Owners extremely helpful and friendly. Canyons restaurant in Blowing Rock was fun and the food was good. The view there was awesome.

The very secluded cabin was great. Glass window view was awesome. Moon light at night great, sunshine in the morning was perfect. Woke up in the morning with deer down in the hollow by the creek. Heard turkey down calling down by the creek. Lady bugs every where! Great fire pit and downstairs games for the whole crew. Excellent cabin, can't wait to stay again.

We stayed in a Cabin in the Woods over Martin Luther King weekend and had the BEST time. The cabin is secluded back in the woods, but still close to everything. Being from busy Myrtle Beach, we especially appreciated this. The cabin is beautiful and spacious and equipped with everything you would ever need. My kids LOVED the rec room downstairs with the game tables and the large loft area that they had all to themselves. It was wonderful to stand on the porch and hear the nearby stream while watching the snowflakes fall or just relax inside by the warm and cozy fireplace. Even though it was bitterly cold that weekend, my kids still got out and hiked up the stream. We had an amazing time and made lots of mountain memories. Our thanks to the owners for being so helpful and letting us stay in their wonderful home. We will, for sure, be back to stay here again!

This has been the best vacation we've ever had! We love the cabin and everything it has to offer. The kids learned so much here and had so much fun doing it, we have memories from here that are priceless! Thank you for sharing your cabin. I wish I could tell you our favorite part, but everyday was as good or better than the day before.

We love the quiet solitude of A Cabin in the Woods. Located on 22 acres, there is plenty to explore. Once in a while, we spot a few deer or wild turkey passing by the stream below. When things get too quiet, we slip away to visit one of the many attractions or hikes in the surrounding area. One of our favorites is Grandfather Mountain. The kids love to see the native animals, visit the educational center, and walk across the mile high swinging bridge. It seems like there is a festival or cultural event every weekend somewhere. Appalachian State University, located in Boone, puts on some wonderful plays and musicals. The Mast General Store has a wonderful selection of mountain wares, backpacking equipment and the best old-fashioned candy store around. Appalachian Ski Mountain is just minutes away with tubing, ice skating, and dining offered, along with skiing, it has a vaiety of activities for everyone. The Blue Ridge Parkway is also a beautiful drive in any season, especially the fall. A nice dinner out on the porch, or in one of Blowing Rock's wonderful restaurants is a great way to end your day.
