Welcome to your home-away-from-home at incredible Fripp Island - a private gated community perfect for a wonderful family retreat or private quiet time alone. Enjoy three-and-one-half miles of pristine uncrowded beach, wildlife sanctuaries, bike paths, and nature walks. Fripp is located about 20 minutes from the quaint historic town of Beaufort, 60 miles to Savannah, and 90 miles to Charleston.
You will enjoy the comfort of our three-bedroom, two-bath home in the private area of Deer Lake including WIFI, a fully-equipped kitchen with a Keurig coffee maker, large dining area, gas fireplace for cool nights, jacuzzi tub and separate shower in master. King-size bed in master, two guest rooms each with queen-size beds, 300 count linens and very comfortable beds. 6 beach bikes to cruise the nature paths or use the 4 passenger golf cart which is included during your stay!
Deer Lake has their own private pool and children's playground just steps from your front door. Sip coffee in the morning on the front porch watching the deer in the front yard and eat dinner on the screened back porch overlooking private, wooded, nature-filled yard and creek.
Spend your days at the pool, beach, or just relaxing and exploring the island on your golf cart or bikes. You will soon see why Fripp Island area has been chosen to film so many movies, such as Forrest Gump, Prince of Tides, and Junglebook.
Fripp Island is also the chosen home of author Pat Conroy, famous for writing one of my favorite books, Beach Music. July through October is nesting time for the turtles on the beach. If you come during this time be sure to follow directions on visiting the sites.

We had a wonderful time in this lovely house. It is well equipped, very comfortable & quiet, and the air conditioning is awesome. The house will accommodate 6 people easily and is located in a beautiful area with lots of wildlife. We enjoyed the screened porch in the morning & evening and had fun in the very clean, almost private pool. We like to visit Fripp at least twice a year and hope to stay here on our next vacation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We have been renting at Fripp for 8 years now and this was our first time in this home. We will choose to stay here from now on when we visit Fripp! I love the quietness of the neighborhood and the community pool. The house is perfect (comfortable beds, internet, TONS of bikes, well stocked kitchen, cold A/C, TVs in each bedroom, and more!). The house exceeded my expectations! Thank you Debbie for sharing your home!Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We drove sixteen hours, from Toronto, to reach our lovely cottage on Fripp, at Deer Lake. It was one of the nicest places we have stayed so far. We have been coming for fifteen years with our kids. This time we came with just our almost adult youngest and her boyfriend. The place itself is immaculate and beautifully designed. Great open concept, wood floors, lovely porch and a pond out back where we often sat to watch all the birds pass by. Huge master bedroom and ensuite, plus really nice secondary bedrooms. We also really appreciated the well maintained bikes and golf cart. A really attractive place. We want it again for next year!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Sandy, we had a wonderful time at your Deer Lake retreat. What a great place to spend a mid-winter vacation. Your home was clean and spacious, and in such a lovely setting. We enjoyed being surrounded by the lagoon and by the tropical foliage. Duck families glided by in the lagoon, and deer stopped by in our yard in the evenings to graze. We walked daily to the marsh and/or to the beach. A few times we rode your bikes to more distant destinations, like sunset lookouts at the marina. I spent an afternoon resting at the crab dock in the Fiddlers neighborhood, and a security guard stopped by to make sure I was OK. (i was lying on my back on the dock, just soaking in the warm sun). We made a few trips in to Lady's Island for groceries, and we visited the beautiful National Cemetery in Beaufort, and shopped in local galleries. About four times a week we visited Gay's Seafood dock to buy fresh shrimp/fish to take home to cook. I also learned that yoga classes were offered (for free) two days a week at the Community Center, so I took full advantage of that opportunity. All in all, it was a perfect winter retreat. I can't think of anything you could have done to make it more enjoyable. Thanks, again. Just back from a wonderful week at Fripp Is. This is a spacious and lovely home. My family and I loved it. The well equipped kitchen was great. A newer, less well-used skillet would be helpful. The bedrooms are all large, as is the master bath. The 2nd BR is small, but adequate. The main living areas are so large we had other family in for family suppers and drinks in the evenings. I'd definitely like to come back again. PS. Bring extra TP!!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Loved this house! I have been going to Fripp Island for about 30 years now and found this to be one of my favorite rental properties. It is well maintained, clean and has everything you will need. The screened in porch is wonderful as well as the front porch. Very quiet and a home, not just a rental..the golf cart and bikes are convenient and a must for Fripp Island!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a great time on Fripp and enjoyed the house tremendously. The house was very nicely furnished, had everything we needed and the beds, as advertised, were very comfortable! Sitting on the screened porch in the mornings and evenings were delightful...lots of wildlife to watch. Was nice to have the golf cart and beach bikes to explore the island. Debbie explained the amenity card program and we are glad we decided not to worrry about getting them. The kids had a great time and loved walking the beach.Friends that had cards went to the restaurant one night and said the food and service was not worth the cost of cards and did not go again. We were there for the beach and neighborhood pool so we didn't care about playing golf at $100 a round and enjoyed cooking at home or going just off island to eat (the cards cost $50 each so we could basically eat for free by keeping the $200, 4 cards,in our own pocket). Thanks Debbie for a wonderful week..loved all the deer in your yard ....your home was exactly as advertised and we will be regular vacationers. We would definately recommend Debbie's house to anyone wanting a restful, tasteful, comfortable vacation.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

A nice getaway in the low country of South Carolina. Wildlife friendly Fripp Island is not far from Beaufort and Port Royal, two small towns with an enviable abundance of well-kept period homes and interesting restaurants, with some amusing shops and art dealers thrown in for good measure (the Rhett art gallery in Beaufort and McPhearson's Serious Barbeque in Port Royal were very nice indeed!) This house and the community on Fripp was everything as advertised and I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for an absence of the smaller amenities such as dish towels and extra trash bags: toilet paper and facial tissues were also at premium. We had a small problem with the air conditioning, and needed to replace the aging coffee maker. The owner felt so bad she offered an additional week for free at our convenience in the off-season. Overall, a pleasant stay. One cautionary note, however. If you plan on playing golf on what looked like two very nice courses on the island, one of them a Davis Love signature course, you will need an amenities card to do so. You can purchase one before you come down I'm now led to understand (had we only known!). We had to play off-island, which was a bit of a drive, and the courses we visited were only so-so. A slightly irritating inconvenience, but oh, well. Our thanks to Debbie the owner and Dee at her rental agency!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our week was far from ideal. We were initially greeted with a house with broken airconditioning and 6 dead roaches thru-out the house. The roach problem worsened until they were actually climbing on us. At that point, we packed up and left after only 3 nights (the first night, we were moved as the house temperature was 83 degrees). We have tried to negiotate with the owner for a PARTIAL refund. She will only offer additional time in the home. Would you like to return to a house like that? And, don't even ask what was on the wall in the bathroom! Do yourself a favor and find another place to stay on Fripp Island!Owner response: I guess one bad review in 4 years is not bad, although I still hate to have unhappy vacationers. It was a shame that the air conditioning chose to stop working on a Sat evening. I was on the phone immediately and put them up in a very nice 3 bedroom condo for the night and had the air conditioner repairman out to the house first thing Sun morning to put freon in the unit. I have an account for pest control and he had sprayed just a few days before and my guests told me there were a "few dead" palmetto bugs on the floor. The area is very wooded and there has been a lot of rain which has brought a few palmettos in the house. They, the renters, were back in the house Sunday morning and on the phone seemed very pleased and thanked me for moving them and being so prompt in the matter. Unfortunately by Thursday afternoon there was a threat of a tropical storm and they decided to leave Friday late afternoon. They were origionally going to leave Sat at 10 am which was their checkout time. They had wanted to do a couple of the basin tours (boat) but the tours were cancelled due the impending storm. Since they had to leave 1/2 day early they insisted on 1/2 of their money back. I had offered them a weeks free stay at any time that was available but they wanted their money back to go someplace other than Fripp, since they had now been there. It's unfortunate when you run into renters like this but it is a consolation that I have had 4 years of wonderful renters with wonderful comments on my home and Fripp.
