This was my fourth straight year attending Jazz Fest and this apartment is my far the best place I've stayed yet! First of all, it is perfectly located within a block of the Streetcar line on Canal St. You can easily get to the fairgrounds or the French Quarter from this point. The apartment itself is very charming and even larger than I imagined from looking at the photos.Tracy is super nice and very accommodating. She even had the kitchen stocked with breakfast items, a coffee maker, and coffee among other things allowing for a nice low key start to the mornings. The upstairs bed is very comfortable and there is a well stocked bookshelf filled with interesting authors in this bedroom if you feel like having a really lazy morning. The bathroom is very clean and the claw foot tub is a nice touch. There is much to explore nearby but it felt like I only scratched the surface of this beautiful little neighborhood just off Canal and above Carrolton. Tracy and John are both great and very knowledgeable about the area and local events. They even provide a Jazz Fest rainy day survival kit including ponchos, umbrellas. Also they offer use of festival chairs and even bikes to get around with. I've read the other reviews and agree with all of them! This is the way to stay in New Orleans! I only hope that I manage to book this apartment again upon returning. Thank You John and Tracy for showing us a great time!!!

Owner response: Bill, John and I both enjoyed showing you a Jazz Fest experience. Would love to see you in New Orleans again.

Accommodation is in a great location 1 block from Canal street and the trolley stop, there was plenty of space for the 3 of us , great yard, quiet street and a fully equipped kitchen. In addition to Tracey generosity in supplying us with a variety of breakfast items was a very nice touch. We will definitely be back to New Orleans in 3 years time and highly recommend this to anyone who wants a convenient, affordable place outside the bustle of the French Quater. Thanks Tracey once again for all your advice, hope to see you in Australia.

This great location 1 block from the trolley stop had a tremendous amount of room, great yard, quiet street and a fullly equipped kitchen. Wow is the only think that I could think of! First off the place is way bigger than the pictures show- way bigger. Second the location is good, far enough away but close enough to drive into the french quarters or anywhere else. The street car is about a block away. Third if you run then Cleveland street is great to run down- about 2 miles one way and you don't really ahve to worry about a lot of traffic. Fourth- Tracey was awesome, absolutely awesome. She left us with a little bit of breakfast food so we wouldn't have to go out right away. Fifth- the place was clean, furniture nice and well kept and comfortable. Lastly, If I have to stay in New Orleans I am going to try to stay here- it is the same price or cheaper than a hotel room and way more comfortable! All in all my mom and I loved it and would recommend it to anyone!!!!

My husband and I stayed in this charming Mid-City Apartment over Super Bowl weekend. Given the difficulty of finding a place to stay, we could not have been more thrilled with this total gem of a property. The location was terrific...in a nice, quiet neighborhood just one block from the Canal Streetcar line which easily took us to and from the French Quarter and beyond. There were also several dining options in the neighborhood which was terrific since we arrived late in the evening and did not want to venture out that far on our first night in town. The apartment has a lot of character with beautiful finishes. It is a very spacious 1 bedroom with a completely updated kitchen and bath. It was so comfortable that you will never want to stay in a hotel again. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, ensuring that we had everything necessary for a great stay. I cannot say enough about our experience, and will definitely stay in this wonderful apartment on our next visit to New Orleans.

I'd been to New Orleans a number of times previous to my most recent trip to the city, but had never experienced a taste of true New Orleans living until my friend and I stayed at this Mid City apartment. From the apartment, located as advertised only a block from the Canal streetcar line, it was incredibly easy to make it to the French Quarter, business district, and other famous locales. The neighborhood in which the apartment is located, though, was as much fun to explore as those others! The beautiful City Park is located walking distance from the front door, as are a number of restaurants. As the week progressed, my friend and I felt we had eaten our fill of the more 'local' cuisine (I'd recommend red beans and rice at Praline Connection—delicious!) and one evening went looking for some different fare—Mona's Restaurant, only a few blocks away, served me some of the best Mediterranean food I've ever eaten! The local bar seen is an interesting and vibrant one: Banks Street Bar & Grill, Mid-City Yacht Club, and Finn McCools are all within walking distance from the home as well. The apartment itself was lovely and comfortable. The walls of kitchen and dining area are painted charmingly with fleur de lis, and the clawfoot tub/shower was a stylish addition to the bathroom. The owner, who conveniently lives next door, was gracious, personable, and very knowledgeable about the city. I immediately felt at home in the apartment and recommend it to anyone in search of the true New Orleans experience!

Owner response: Glad your time in New Orleans was so well spent. You are welcome any time.

This apartment had a wonderfully welcoming feel, and the location is great both because of the quality and number of nearby attractions (many restaurants, coffeeshops, City Park, etc) and the proximity of the streetcar line. The kitchen had all the appliances I wanted, and the rooms were very clean and tastefully furnished with a New Orleans flair. During my stay, I walked two blocks to take the streetcar to the French Quarter, which was very easy and cheap ($1.25 per trip, and I think there is a day pass available). The apartment also has wifi (ask for the password), but when I wanted to go to a coffeeshop to get some work done I found one very nearby on Carrollton called the Bean Gallery that was really pleasant. There is also a cluster of restaurants on a nearby stretch on Carrollton that ranges from local pizza places and creole tex-mex (my favorite) to Italian, Mexican, Japanese, and Chinese. There's even a cute little local doughnut shop a little off Carrollton, and a great Middle Eastern restaurant on Banks street. City Park was a great place to go for a run, and they seemed to have recently done some pretty extensive improvements. I never made it to the art museum (NOMA) there, but maybe next time. There's also a 24Hour Fitness location a few blocks from the apartment. In terms of nightlife, a really great dive bar called Banks Street Bar is a very close by, and a nice pub that has a fun trivia night (Finn McCools) is just a little further away. I also saw a divey-looking irish pub called Micks nearby, but I never went. Overall the trip was definitely a success, and I plan to go back to New Orleans soon.

My husband was born and raised in New Orleans so we visit several times a year. We've tried almost every style of accommodation and this is by far the very best. The apartment is beautifully furnished and outfitted with everything you need for a stay of a weekend.. or a week..or a month! You can walk to City Park (beignets and cafe au lait 24/7 at Morning Call in the park!) and to several restaurants including old landmarks like Mandina's (trout meuniere and turtle soup!) and Angelo Broccato's (cannolli, pastries and gelato, oh my!). There's also a Rouse's ..by far the best grocery store in the city -- and locally owned. You're a 1/2 block from the Canal Street streetcar that can take you to the French Quarter in about 20 minutes. If you're driving in, the interstate exit/entrance is just minutes from the house so the access is a snap. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable and the neighborhood is lovely and safe to walk around. For a spacious and comfortable place to stay in New Orleans -- for couples or families of four -- this place is a steal.

Double sitting area downstairs, front porch, back yard, full kitchen with coffee and coffeemaker, toaster and everything you need. Owners were great and responsive to all our needs. This apartment is so convenient to the French Quarter, New Orleans Museum of Art, Sculpture Garden, race track and restaurants that there is no need to have a car. Bedroom upstairs is beautifully appointed with claw foot tub in bathroom being a favorite for relaxing after a long day of exploring New Orleans. Futon downstairs is quite comfortable and fluffy. I would stay here again. Thinking about coming back for French Quarter Festival or Jazz Fest. Would be a great place to stay for those festivals.

Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

About the owner: I am a costume designer here in New Orleans. I was just awarded the RAW Fashion Designer of the Year 2012 for New Orleans. Born in the Mississippi Delta, I naturally migrated downstream to New Orleans. Finished a graduate program at the University of New Orleans and decided to stay in the city and rear my two children here. I started making headdresses while costuming during Mardi Gras. Costuming is a tradition in New Orleans because of Mardi Gras and various other activities. My creations have gone from headdresses to decorated feathered bustiers to nutria pelt bags and purses. Using feathers, appliques, alligator heads, oyster shells, Spanish moss and an assortment of other trinkets, I create headdresses that are both comfortable and adjustable. I sell on etsy.com and have sent headdresses, bustiers and nutria bags all over the United States, and even as far away as Bulgaria. I participate in art markets in New Orleans and across the Gulf Coast region.
