We stayed in this apartment the first two weeks of October 2012. It was located in a courtyard on the American third-floor. The apartment overall was fine. It was quiet and comfortable. We had WiFi. We were able to view English language broadcasts on the television: CNN, BBC, etc. Previous to this flat we had rented for a two week stay five different apartments in other sections of Paris. This is the apartment I would return to as it offered a real French quarter atmosphere. Though from the street one could see the Bastille monument one felt as though we were in a genuine Parisian neighborhood. So many things needed for our stay were nearby. I am a big fan of Monoprix (99 fbg Saint Antoine) where we shopped for needed provisions. Nearby; in fact, the few steps from the apartment street entrance was the metro stop, Ledru-Rollin/ Line 5.. For the first time we had a nearby café where we were able to watch the comings and goings of Parisians on their daily errands and rendezvous and get acquainted with some of the staff. We also took advantage of the nearby Viaduc Vincennes (The Promenade plantée) and walked to the end at the Boulevard périphérique. This was our most pleasant vacation in Paris.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

My wife, daughter and I spend a wonderful week at Charlotte's charming flat. It is all the things other reviewers have said. It's small but comfortable and looks onto a peaceful courtyard. The location is fabulous and my wife and daughter were happy to find the summer sales in all of the shops right out our front door. Of course, being minutes away from the Bastille Metro is a huge plus, but we also had an easy walk to Notre Dame and back. Charlotte is a sweet and thoughtful hostess and made sure we had everything we needed. We hope to return again one day.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We (a senior couple) stayed here for a week in early May 2012 and found the apartment to be charming, a convenient location for tourists and a perfect alternative to staying in a hotel in Paris. It is very close to food markets in the event one wants to eat meals in instead of out. The neighborhood is hip and bustling, but safe and friendly. It is a couple of blocks from the Bastille/Opera Metro stop and close to shops, cafes and markets. We walked extensively in Paris and in the neighborhood. We loved the courtyard and the apartment itself served our needs perfectly. The owner is very helpful and friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable. We went everywhere in Paris from this apartment each day and loved to return to our charming base in the evening. We would recommend this apartment for a couple who doesn't want a hotel.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

The wording of this ad and the photos simply do not come close to expressing the beauty of this apartment, the courtyard and the neighborhood. My wonderful two weeks spent here were the most completely satisfying of all of my trips to Paris. (and, 8 different apartments). J’etais bien heureuse. Charlotte was an excellent hostess. She was there to greet me, took a great deal of time to see that I was settled, and painstakingly showed me the workings of the phone, TV, washer dryer etc. The financial workings of the rental were simple, with no problems. The courtyard is exquisite and I spent hours looking through the gracious French windows of the apartment, photographing it in detail. It changes character with the light. The apartment itself is superbe, beautifully and uniquely furnished and, far more spacious than it appears in the photos. You are immersed in beauty. She thoughtfully provides an extensive library (in French and English), music, and art. (Don’t bother to bring your guidebooks, the best are already there.) The charming Parisian kitchen is complete and workable, as is the bathroom. You move from the peaceful exclusive apartment and courtyard to the neighborhood, Faubourg Saint Antoine, rich, vital and textured. I spent hours wandering through the tiny passages, window shopping, and most days, at least an hour in the fabulous historic Marche Aligre, perhaps a 10 minute walk away. Many cafes and restaurants, I love Le Chat Bossu especially. You are immediately accessible to all of Paris, the bustop and metro, Ledru Rollin…only a 3 minute walk away. The Seine is a 15 minute walk, the Marais, 10 minutes. The whole experience was intensely pleasurable and remarkable on all levels. Without qualification, I would recommend this Paris home. I have no criticisms. I would love to return tomorrow! Merci beaucoup, Charlotte. What a charming flat in central Paris. We fell in love with the four large french windows which open onto a court yard, allow sunshine to stream in, and keep the flat cool, during hot days. Charlotte has decorated it with persian rugs and antiques, perfect for this 17th century flat in the Bastille district. Her library is brimming with helpful information about Paris, it's history as well as tour guides. The Bastille district is now vibrant with young people, who have moved to the area...artists and designers, as well as people drawn by the arts and fine dining. We walked to the Louvre, the Grand Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Museum D' Orsay from this flat, although at times we took advantage of the bus that stops in front and takes you to the Louvre. We definitely recommend it...location, location, location.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in this charming flat from 25 April - 9 May 2011.We were amazed at how quiet, tranquil and private it was as it is located in a very vibrant area of Paris with shops, supermarket, cafes, metro stations and bus stops only steps away. Also it is close to the famous Marche d'Aligre ( daily) and the wonderful Marche at Bastille (Sundays). The Marais is a 5-minute walk away. The banks of the Seine an interesting 10-minute walk directly down Blvd.Henri 1V. There is a direct bus to the Eiffel Tower and the many other tourist attractions of Paris. Charlotte is a wonderful host who welcomed us and ensured our stay in Paris was comfortable and enjoyable. We highly recommend this flat. This is the real Paris. Lovely memories! Sue & Patrick. Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

This is a lovely apartment let by an equally lovely owner, Charlotte. The courtyard makes this a quiet apartment in a bustling area of Paris. It is convenient to the metro (just out the front gate) and within walking distance to Place de la Bastille, the Marais (a few streets over) and the oldest open food market in Paris (Place D'Aligre.) It is a super quick metro ride to the center of Paris. My favorite part of the stay though was the apartment itself, writing while overlooking the courtyard, late afternoon sun streaming in...if you want to feel like you are really living in Paris this is the place for you. The only drawback is the teensy bathroom-for me, and my daughter it was not a big deal, but for my 6'4" husband it was an adventure. That said, my extra tall husband says he would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you Charlotte.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.
Owner response: jACKIE AND HER CHARMING DAUGHTER WERE VERY PLEASANT RENTORS . I REGRET NOT TO HAVE THE TIME TO GO FOR A WALK WITH THEM IN THE AREA I LIKE IN PARIS AND TO TALK MORE WITH THEM. I HOPE THEY WILL COME BACK.
