We are a family of 5 and this house was perfect for us. Closest home to the beach in development, and it was well furnished with an open plan and colors that were bright and summery. Even the artwork on the wall was pleasant. Updated appliances and flat screen TV. We really enjoyed our time there, and hope to return someday.

Recommended for:People with disabilities, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

What a great vacation we had. The location of your house was fantastic. The amenities were great. The yard was huge for the kids and the layout of the house was perfect for our group. We went with a couple families who rented other homes in Emerald Shores and everyday we all ended up together in Sunny Side Up because the layout worked so well for our group. Great access to the beach. Such an easy walk. We were sad to leave and can't wait to return. Thank you for a vacation we will never forget!

We have rented Sunny Side Up many times since 2004 and as recently as 7/11 and have never been disappointed with our stay. The accommodations are very comfortable with all of the conveniences of home. The owner has kept the property in excellent condition and the location is absolutely perfect. Beach access is a short walk away and 2 pools are close by. We have so many positive memories of Destin and this house. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation spot that is great for the family, THIS CAN’T BE BEAT!

Beautiful house, but disappointing.

This is my fourth year at Destin, and third year to stay at Emerald Shores. Sunny Side Up is very beautiful and has the perfect location. The house was very clean, however, disappointed in several areas. The beds were VERY uncomfortable, felt like very cheap mattresses and boxsprings. We literally were sore from sleeping on these beds. The living room furniture wasn't like the furniture in previous houses at Emerald Shores...very cheap and VERY uncomfortable to sit in. The sofa sleeper was missing springs and the ceiling fan upstairs in the queen bedroom didn't work. At least 3/4 of the electrical outlets in the whole house were useless, wouldn't hold the prongs on the cords. You would try to plug in phone chargers, blow dryers, irons, etc., and they would literally fall out of the electrical outlet. The light in the washroom would take a couple of hours to warm up to the point it would actually light enough to see what you were doing, we had to use a flashlight to see the settings on the washer/dryer. The dryer also needs repair, it took at least two cycles or more to actually dry one load of clothes or towels. The front office did send someone to fix our ceiling fan and replace springs in the sofa sleeper though, and were very pleasant about it. Our previous experiences at the other houses we stayed in were just much better. This house is so beautiful and has the largest and prettiest yard of any other house in Emerald Shores, it's a shame the furniture and maintenance is lacking. We will definately return to Emerald Shores, but will definately NOT return to Sunny Side Up.

Owner response:This is a complete shock to me. I have immediately contacted the management company to address each of these issues. I just bought all new beds upstairs and they were certainly not cheap and I specifically purchased higher end, more comfortable mattresses. I sleep on the master bed and it is quite comfortable. I'm not clear how many of the issues were reported during the stay but I would have had any addressed if someone had contacted me. I will gladly make amends for any unhappiness this guest has. In fact, I have received thank you emails from others who were there this summer and also from a personal friend who was just there as well, specifically telling me that there were no issues with the home.

Our first stay in Sunny Side Up. Loved having the large side yard for the children. We've rented houses at Emerald Shores for 21 years and this one was very well maintained. Thank you for making it available so we can continue our Thanksgiving tradition.

The visit to Sunny Side Up was a wonderful experience. The house was so well kept that it made you feel right at home. It will for sure be a vacation that my family and friends will remember forever.
