  My husband and I were looking for a condo, at a nice resort that would be comfortable and easily accommodate our 1 year old. We found exactly that. From making the reservation, to check-in, to check-out the process was smoothy and easy. Shafeeq was prompt with responding to emails, and personally called to make sure everything was to our liking. He allowed us to check in early so that our baby could take a nap. The condo was beautiful, and although the view is mountain facing we thought it was gorgeous and enjoyed the rainbows we saw almost daily. The Honua Kai property was also wonderful. I've stayed at the Westin Villas timeshare (just south of Honua Kai) and I can tell you the layout of the condo, pools, parking, etc is better at the Honua Kai. It rained at least a little every day, and it was windy. I've seen complaints online about this and heard a few "Real House Wife" types complaining about this at the pool, BUT to that I say this is an island in the middle of the ocean- wind and rain is going to happen. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to return.

  Honua Kai is an upscale, ocean front, newer condo community. It is everything that the owner shows on the site, and is even better in person. The owner had the unit stocked with everything needed to live there, including plentiful towels, soaps (for the dishwasher, clothes washer, bath and shower), and even beach toys. The owner was even attentive to our late arrival time coordinating the key exchange after hours without a hitch for us. The 10th floor mountain views were panoramic making sitting out on the lanai pleasurable. Ant the large flat screen TVs in the living room and bedroom made late night entertainment as comfortable as home. The owner even found a better car rental deal for us (before we booked one online with the usual competitive web sites). Thanks for the pleasurable experience.

  The resort was amazing! The room was amazing! The owner's were amazing! We loved our trip! My wife and I love coming to Maui and getting away from our hectic life for a week or two each year. For the last couple of years when we have come to Maui we have stayed in a few different resorts along Kaanapali Beach. This year was our first year traveling with our little 1.5 year girl and we wanted to stay at a family friendly resort with things for our little one to do which is what lead us to the Honua Kai Resort. Honua Kai is by far the nicest of the resorts we have stayed at along Kaanapali Beach. We couldn't have been more pleased. The resort was amazing with lots of young families and little kids running around. The lazy river, little kid pools, shady cabanas, and lots of grassy areas were perfect for our little one to enjoy. The quiet adult pool, hot tubs, ocean, and everything else the resort had to offer were perfect for the adults to enjoy! The room was very nice with everything you would need to make the stay perfect. There is a microwave, stove-top/oven range, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, free internet connection, cable TV, BlueRay/DVD player, nice patio, etc. It was a perfect room for what we wanted and needed. The room isn't an ocean view room, but we new that going into this which saved us some money vs. the ocean view rooms. We spent almost all of our time at the pool, beach, or on the walking trailing running into town anyways. There is a grocery store right next to the resort where you can load up on groceries and you can save some money by cooking some of your own meals vs. eating out. There are several car rental places near the resort too which is nice. It happened to work at where the owner, Shafeeq, and his family were vacationing at the resort the week before us and were leaving on the day we arrived so we got a chance to meet him and one of his cute little kids. Shafeeq was great to work with and made sure that everything about the trip was smooth, relaxing, and enjoyable. Thanks Shafeeq! We plan on coming back every year. If we could make it work we would buy a place at Honua Kai, but for now we will just keep renting a room from Shafeeq for a week or two each year until we can make the finances work. We would 100% recommend staying here to anybody!

  We recently rented this unit for ten nights and had a great experience from start to finish. Honua Kai is a beautiful resort with very nice suites and a great pool set up (lots of wading spots for young kids and deeper pools too). This unit was well stocked with cookware and beach toys (important as we have two young kids) and chairs. It's on the top floor and we never heard any noise from neighboring units. If you listen hard you can hear the whir of the elevator which is right by the bedroom but it was not disturbing at all. We loved the view of the mountains from the lanai and the privacy of facing that way (inner courtyard is not so peaceful). But what really sets this unit apart from the others is the high level of service provided by the owner. I received multiple phone calls (not just emails) to set up the reservation. And even while we were staying at the condo and had the local property management company accessible, the owner called to make sure everything was okay. Not that we had any major issues but it was nice to know that they would quickly be taken care of if we did. Service like this is hard to find anywhere! I would definitely recommend this rental to others.

  My recent trip to Honua Kai was great. I will start with comments about the condo. This one bedroom top floor suite had absolutely everything we needed, including a full mountain view that we enjoyed from our balcony daily as we had our morning cups of coffee. The Honua Kai resort is the best place I have stayed in several trips to Maui. It has a great pool area and is just steps from beautiful beaches where we spent several days snorkeling. This was our first trip to the island during whale season, and it was quite an experience to be able to be able to see the whales from the beach in front of the resort. However, my review of this place would not be complete without mention of the owner. This is the first time I used vrbo, and the owner was outstanding at answering all of my questions prior to my trip and to make sure that I had all the information I needed so that my check in went smoothly. The owner also checked in with us during our trip to make sure everything was ok. The property management company also did a great job by providing a check in that was a little ahead of schedule and by answering any questions we had upon arrival. This was a great vacation and I would defintely stay here again when I return to Maui!

  As someone who normally tries to book accommodations with ocean views, this was my first experience in booking something with a Mountain view. I can't tell you how much my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staring out at the mountains and the lush island daily. It was absolutely beautiful. The actual unit itself was incredibly comfortable so much so that my husband made a point several times throughout our stay to tell me that he could really see himself living in a space just like it! When I initially found this listing I was extremely excited due to the price being incredibly reasonable compared to some other listings at Honua Kai. I am so happy that we chose to stay here and experience this beautiful resort. I was also incredibly impressed by the excellent communication from Shaffeeq since our moment of booking his unit. Couldn't have rented from a better property owner!

  I don’t know from where I should start because we love everything about this unit ... The Owner: The owner of this unit is unbelievably friendly, helpful, and polite. Since this is my first time to rent a condo from the owner directly I had a lot of questions, and he answered all of them and made everything so clear and easy to me. Before couple of days from our arrival, he sent me an email asking if I need anything before our arrival. The second day from our arrival, he gave us a phone call asking if everything is OK in his unit and if there is anything missing or something like that. Also, after we got back home, he gave us a call asking me for my feedback for our experience in general. My family and I found this guy is really nice and honest with us. The unit & the property: The property is really really really beautiful and I think it's brand new building with couple of swimming pools and restaurants. My family and I LOVE the beach and the view of the beach and we saw some whales are playing in front of the beach one day. There is mini supermarket and coffee shop inside the property which is really cool. The unit itself is really gorgeous and spacious, and it fits 4 people easily. The Kitchen and the bathroom are great and we found everything we need there. The balcony is HUGE and we LOVE the view even thought the view is over the mountains, but since the unit is in the higher level we got beautiful and wide view of the mountains "we had breakfast couple of time in the balcony". The property manager: Since the owner of this unit didn't live in Maui, so there is property manager over there. The good news that their office is next door "2 min from the property" and you can give them a call and the will respond to you really FAST. I went to them one time in the first day for us there to get more towels and it took me 5 min only to go and came back. They are really nice people. I’ll definitely stay here again if I’ll visit Maui again in future and for sure I’ll recommend this unit to my family, friends, and everyone.

  My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Honua Kai. The one bedroom suite had plenty of room for all of us. The deck was surprisingly large, we were able to have every meal outside on the dining table. The suite was clean and exactly as shown in the photos. We were even more impressed when we arrived. It was the first time we used vrbo, The owner was extremely helpful answering all my questions and really put me at ease about all of my concerns. I would recommend staying at the Honua Kai to all my friends and family.

  This unit was exactly as described, very clean and comfortable. The mountain view and sunrises in the morning were great, and the unit has everything you need, including small beach chairs and boogie boards. From time of booking to check out, the whole experience was worry-free, thanks to a very friendly and very attentive owner and management company. We have been to Maui many times and the Honua Kai is our favourite place to stay. Pools are excellent, Duke's is excellent, the beach out front is excellent. We'll be back! Thank you!
