Property description

Ystumllyn is large Elizabethan house of historic importance in the area. Views from the house are spectacular. It is surrounded by extensive gardens and woodland, and also has a marshland area which is designated as a SSSI because of its plant and bird life, and is currently managed by the RSPB. The house is connected by a footpath to the beach at Criccieth, about 1 mile away. It is ideally situated for exploring the unspoilt Lleyn Peninsular and also Snowdonia and its mountains. The house has a large airy and well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room with aga, and a conventional electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge and microwave. There is an impressive lounge with dining area, a wood burning stove, TV, CD, DVD and video players. The drawing room is more cosy with an open fire and TV. Upstairs the bedrooms are spacious three of them able to accommodate a whole family! The property is furnished in keeping with age of the house. We only let to family groups.

There is an aga in the kitchen which is supplemented by a full size electric oven for those who are not familiar with aga cooking. The living room has a wood burning stove and the drawing room has an open fire. Wood is provided for these. There is also central heating available. Please note there are two reception rooms. This is an old property so the elderly may find the floors uneven, and there are steps between rooms on the ground floor. Children will find this old house fascinating, but care must be taken to supervise them in the house and on the stairs as with any other house. The house is in a rural location near Criccieth and all its shops and amenities. Beautiful beaches such as Black Rock sands and Harlech are easily reached. The unspoilt Lleyn Peninsula can be explored, for even quieter beaches and coastline walks. The fantastic Snowdonia national park with its mountains and lakes is only a few miles away. There are endless opportunities for outdoor activities, such as fishing, mountain walking, rock climbing, canoeing and bird watching . The more adventurous can try canyoning, quad biking or coast-eering! The area is also famous for its quarries and mines and several former mines make an interesting visit, whatever the weather. Portmerion with its eclectic collection of architecture from around the world is also much visited, as is the shop where Portmerion pottery is available. For train enthusiasts, a trip on the Ffestiniog railway or Welsh Highland Railway is a must. There is wealth of historic sites to visit such as Caernarvon castle.
