Chez Hubbert is on 3 floors. The ground floor has the kitchen lounge and terrace; the top has 2 bedrooms, and a bathroom, and the lower floor has 2 more bedrooms and another bathroom, as well as beautiful garden with a fantastic view out over the vines.
The middle floor is on street level but at the back of the house it opens out onto a lovely terrace with magnificent views. From the front door entrance you come into the foyer then through to the gourmet kitchen. A door off the kitchen leads through into the loungeroom. Both the kitchen and lounge have doors which open out onto the terrace. There is a large outdoor table and chairs on the terrace for enjoying outside meals under the shade of the pergola. There is also a BBQ at the end of the terrace.
The upper floor is accessed by a stone staircase from just inside the front door. Halfway up on the left is the main bathroom with toilet. Then there is the second bedroom with twin beds which can be joined together to make another kingsize bed. Further on down the hall, there is the main bedroom with kingsize bed and french antique furniture. The views from this room and the hall window are spectacular, looking out over the vineyards.
The lower floor is accessed by an ancient stone staircase leading down into the peaceful garden. From there you enter the two downstairs bedrooms, bathroom, shower and separate toilet. The view from the garden is quite spectacular, looking out over the vineyards and olives. There is another table with seating for four, as well as two lounge chairs to relax in.
We have recently installed a hot tub in the back yard for relaxing after a long day exploring or cycling!

                  • Details:

Vinsobres is a small perched village, located on the border of Drome and Vaucluse, in Provence, with the mountains on the doorstep. We love the village and the region so much that we have recently purchased another house in Vinsobres - Le Trillon - an 800 year old rampart tower - which has been renovated in style with its history and now rents as a beautiful 2 bedroom village house Vinsobres is in a beautiful part of Southern France, with a wide variety of things to do and see. Views take in rich lavender fields, grapevines, and the soft grey of the olive groves. Nyons is only 7 kms away at the foot of the Alps, and has a very lively market held every Thursday throughout the year, as well as many cafes and restaurants. The historic town of Vaison la Romaine is 15 kms in the other direction with the historic town separated from the not-so-old town by the river. Vaison has a very large market on Tuesdays. Mont Ventoux, of Tour de France fame, is only 30 kms from Vinsobres and represents the ultimate challenge to keen cyclists. There are countless picturesque cycling routes to practice on before attempting the ascent of Ventoux! It's about an hour north-east of Avignon (with a TGV station), and less than 2 hours to Marseilles. 40 minutes from the nearest TGV station at Montelimar. Paris is only 2 hours 40 minutes by TGV to Avignon, and 2 hours 20 minutes to Montelimar. This area of Provence is truly a place for all seasons. In March the spring flowers push through; April sees the fruit blossom; May the vines bursting into leaf, greening everywhere, and the first strawberries and cherries turn up in the markets. More fruit and salads in June - and the hillsides are cloaked in lavender. July and August are high season - with village's fetes, music festivals, and more. And there's always a breeze to cool things off. There's a gigantic outdoor Municipal Swim Center with cafe - a great place for cool family fun in Nyons, and another memorable public pool is found beneath the Marquise-de-Sevigny's huge Renaissance castle at Grignan. While you're there, Chateau Grignon is well worth a visit, as well as touring the local shops. Closer still is Franceloc, with its huge water amusement park, just a kilometre down the road on the way to Nyons. There are too many wineries to count in the area, as well as other places to sample the delicacies such as the famous Nyons' olives and oils, lavender, apricots, honey and nougat. You won't run out of places to visit or things to see and do. Vaison la Romaine has recently discovered Roman ruins and Grignon with it's superb castle is only 20 minutes away in the opposite direction. The Count de Grignon ruled the south of France prior to the French Revolution and the castle has been faithfully restored by the French Government. North from Nyons are the scenic gorges and then the beginning of the stunning French alps with great skiing in winter, hiking in summer and breathtaking scenery. Marseilles and the Cote d' Azur is about and hour and a half drive south and Avignon is also only 45 minutes south. Chez Hubbert is on 3 floors. The ground floor has the kitchen lounge and terrace; the top has 2 bedrooms, and a bathroom, and the lower floor has 2 more bedrooms and another bathroom, as well as beautiful garden with a fantastic view out over the vines. ...morecollapse

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2007

About the owner: We initially purchased the 4 bedroom house in Vinsobres because we wanted to leave in France to enable our son to attend school for 18 months. We had always dreamed of living in a stone house in a village on a hill, surrounded by vineyards, and the dream came true! We are now based back in Australia but intend to maintain our connection with the South of France.

                  Why the Owner Chose Drome:
We purchased this particular property after looking at 37 properties in the Rhone Valley in a period of 2 weeks around Easter 2007. We settled on the region around Nyons and Vaison la Romaine because of the unique appeal of the area. This narrowed the search to a largish stone house in a perched village in that region. Luckily we found 14 Rue Reynarde and named it 'Chez Hubbert'.
