Location & View
Our property on the north end of the Sunshine Coast includes roughly 100 metres (300 feet) of ocean shoreline; a protected rocky beach that is very private and great for swimming from; and deep water anchorage. Starfish frequent the rocks of the bay and seals frequent the water, as eagles soar above and herons glide by! The approach to the beach is ideal for launching kayaks, and there is a grassy area just above the beach that is out of reach of high tides and is perfect for playing, camping, or just lazing around in the summer sun. Beyond the bay the view is of Savary Island, Hernando Island, and the mountains of Vancouver Island. It is only a 40-60 minute leisurely kayak paddle to sandy beaches on Savary Island!...moreless

A perfect location for a 3 generation family holiday
A perfect location for a 3 generation family holiday
We have just spent a fantastic vacation at this property close to Lund. The living area is very spacious, with plenty of glass so that the view to Savary and Hornby Islands can be enjoyed at all times. It was very warm during our visit, but the house was always cool to return to. We found the furnishings of high standard and the kitchen was well equipped with china, cutlery and saucepans of very high quality. The master bath could fit two and it was fun to soak while enjoying the view through the 'open wall' into the bedroom and beyond. We had our own boat, plus a Boston Whaler, but there were two kayaks at our disposal which we also made use of, and our prawn traps were very successful. We picked oysters from the beach, and it was just a short stroll into Lund for baked goods from Nancy's bakery. The visit to the Farmers Market in Powell River was very productive, and we enjoyed dinner at the Laughing Oyster. Grandad, at 81, picked enough blackberries to make jam, and we all enjoyed sitting on the very spacious deck playing cards late into the evening. Paul was extremely helpful, with immediate replies to all our queries, and we found his instructions easy to follow. We are hoping to return next year.

Amazing as it sounds!
Amazing as it sounds!
We are a group of 8 kayakers who had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful home over the May long weekend. It was everything we had hoped for and more. It is perfectly located for a paddle to Savary Island and we launched our kayaks right from the private beach. The next day we were lucky enough to have perfect conditions to paddle to the Copeland Islands, which ended up being a 6 hour day, but well worth it. The seals, eagles, sea lions, and the scenery were magical. All 8 of us were very comfortable and the kitchen was well equiped with everything we could possibly need. The outdoor shower that made the long day of paddling well worth it. It is very close to Powell River for groceries and things and yet isolated enough for privacy. We were able to do some hiking in the area, and they have many trails to choose from and well marked. We did try the local bakery and the Laughing Oyster restaurant, and found them both with great food. Paul was more than helpful from the inital inquiry and even after to make sure all went well. I would highly recomment this rental and hope to have the pleasure of staying there again.

About the owner: We are a family of four (our infant son didn't come on the kayak trip that this photo was taken on) who love the outdoors and the peace the ocean brings.
Why the Owner Chose Savary Island:
We vacationed in the area for years and always dreamed to build once in our lives. We found this unique property back in 2005 that brought us calmness when we stood at its shore. Its proximity to Savary Island, Desolation Sound, and the amenities of the town of Lund finalized our decision to purchase it. Now our dream cottage is ready to share!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
As our architect Sue said recently... 'The house was designed around the idea of creating open spaces with an abundance of natural light, views, real materials contrasting and working together, shadows, strong viewpoints and transparency throughout. So as the light, sea and skies change throughout the seasons, you'll see the house change too....through shadows and reflections. It's a bit like living in a poem, I imagine. This is when architecture is most powerful...when it elevates our experience of nature and thus of being alive.'
