#7 Estate Granard on St. Croix's rural South Shore is comprised of a main house and a cottage, both of which are available for short-term rental. The Main House is 3 bedrooms and 3 baths with a spacious, modern kitchen, living area and breezy front gallery-style porch with ocean views. Sunrise on this porch is a magical experience, one you will never forget. It is the perfect spot for morning coffee, lazy afternoons, sunset cocktails and conversations long into the evening – or dancing! The Cottage is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath studio with a full kitchen and East-facing porch.
Surrounded by 300 acres of beautiful grassland, this property is peaceful, yet an easy 10-minute drive to the shops and restaurants of historic Christiansted. Beaches, grocery stores and St. Croix airport are also just minutes away. Centrally located on St. Croix, this is an ideal spot from which you can easily head east or west, minimizing travel time as you enjoy the many beautiful beaches and historic sites of this American paradise.
We’ve chosen to keep this property as close to natural Caribbean life as possible, cooling the house with ceiling fans rather than artificial air conditioning. About the owner: Barbara, Mike and Mary Walsh decided to buy the property at #7 Estate Granard in early 2011. Mike and Barbara have lived on St. Croix since 1976 and raised their three daughters here. Mary, Mikes' sister, is an Emmy-winning producer from CBS News in Washington DC and has been visiting St. Croix for over 30 years. St. Croix is a special place for the whole family.
Why the Owner Chose Southeast Shore:
This historic property overlooks some of the best preserved Caribbean landscape in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The house was built in 1967 with a Studio Cottage added later. Although we rescued the house from the bush, it's clean lines and open front porch invite you to stay awhile.
