I would certainly recommend this property for families. There queen beds in all three bedrooms (and a sofa bed in the living room). So it would work well for a family reunion, especially since the owner also rents the townhouse next door. The owner is very courteous and responsive. She took action immediately when we reported the minor maintenance issues that inevitably arose during our extended stay. The townhouse is very clean and well-appointed. We especially liked having a full-functioning kitchen so we could prepare meals when we didn’t feel like walking to Monterrey House for Mexican food or Tea Garden for Chinese. There are windows in all the bedrooms and the living room window has a nice view of the community garden across the street and a peek of the mountains. There is a swamp-cooler for summer visitors but the house is actually well-shaded and cool. While it’s true that there are no stairs in the townhouse, there is a little bit of an incline getting in, so if you have someone with mobility issues I’d ask about that specifically. The property is located in a residential area. There are some houses, a lot of townhomes/duplexes, and several apartment buildings in the vicinity. There are all the daily amenities – grocery, starbucks, dry cleaners, Kmart etc. – close by. It’s between mountain and city attractions, so it’s a nice compromise for people who want to see both or a great location for just kicking back. But there’s not a lot of excitement in the neighborhood. Now, you can hear the television and loud talking in the living room and dining room of the next unit from the bedroom of this unit. This wasn’t a major issue because we never had neighbors making a lot of noise in those rooms when we were trying to sleep, but it’s worth mentioning. Rent both units and you should have no problems.

6 of us stayed (Grandparents, parents, and young children). The comfortable house was convenient to the city and the mountains. We had never been to Colorado before, and the house was a great base to explore in all directions. Our children (5 and 3) loved the swings in the yard, and the park a short walk away. (One of them wanted to try to bring the slide from the park home.) The children also loved the supply of books and toys stashed in the house's cabinets. The grandparents struck up conversations with the folks digging in the community garden across the street, who nicely gave us some of their fresh produce. We have read the reviews that appeared between booking our stay, and the stay itself, and we have to disagree with them. Grandma requires a high level of tidiness, and this rental met her standards. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the property to friends and relatives.
Owner response:We thoroughly enjoyed having the pleasure of both housing and meeting you and your family. It is rare to see a group that so completely utilizes all the assets of our home and community while sightseeing as well. You were a blessing to have around.

We arrived in July 2011 for my grandsons wedding. There were 3 families, 6 adults. The carpets were dirty, there is no air condioning only a swamp cooler which is in the hallway. The bedrooms remained hot all the time unless we left the window open in every room and then it made a strange noise. It is not newly redecorated. The sectional in the living room is broken and there are not queen beds in every room. My husband was disabled and they advertised there were no stairs and they were right! Only railroad ties in the slanted entry area of the grass and then a few stepping stones. I actually would have fallen down if my daughter had not caught me. It is completely stocked with ample kitchen utensils.etc..and bathroom towels etc. I was embarassed to invite my Colorado family over to visit. Check out the area carefully...we did not!
Owner response:The only carpet that was needing shampooing is in the living room from guests eating in the living room. The rest are fine. We have been solid booked way in advance with only one day in between guests, so we weren't able to get it done and have the carpets dry. We have a space now and the living room carpet is being shampooed. We have a large swamp cooler that completely cools the place down, but you do have to crack the windows. That is how a swamp cooler works. We have the same method of cooling in our own unit, and I have never had a problem with it personally. In Colorado, it is a very popular method of cooling. We do not advertise that we are handicapped. Our building is all one level which is true. This particular guest was told that they were welcome to come in our gate to get to their unit to avoid the hill if that was a problem. If they chose to use the hill instead of the flat, that is not our fault or responsibility at that point. We live in the same building and neighborhood, and I don't feel unsafe or uncomfortable. We have a community garden right across the street. Alot of older Russian people have moved in and that is their life. They work in their garden plots night and day, and provide a very quaint atmosphere. Most of our guests have enjoyed watching them work on their garden plots. We also have a beautiful park a block down the street for children. It is not a gated community, or Cherry Creek area. But we do not charge the price that you pay for those areas either. We are a comfortable, middle class area. If you are coming from a wealthy area yourself, this may not match what you have at home. We have had many guests that have come for weddings that have been thrilled with the accomodations, and have gone out of their way to verbally tell me so. We do have a very nice remodeled kitchen that is very well stocked that the last wedding group used to prepare all of the food for the reception. Many guests have also commented on how comfortable our beds are. The most important thing is that we welcome you. We are welcoming you into our home to share with us our community and life and we welcome you with love. If you want a cold, formal atmosphere, then maybe you should look for something in a more expensive area. I personally enjoy watching the children play from my kitchen window. This is not a retirement center though there are just as many older people who work their gardens even with walkers.

We rented this place for a week in June 2011 for a family vacation with my husbands family. We had 3 adults and 1 child who came from Nashville, 1 adult from Lansing and my husband and myself from Phoenix. We were meeting in Denver to surprise my mother in law for her birthday. The place was perfect for all of us! It was super clean (aside from a few stains on the carpet which is expected in a rental) We all commented on how perfectly located it was. Plenty of room for all of us and it was pefectly stocked with all household goods you could need. We had my mother-in-laws bday party on the patio with about 20 guests and everyone had a good time and commented what a nice place it was. We thoroughly enjoyed the place and were extremely please with the price. Thanks Katie and Angelique!
Owner response:It was truly a blessing to house a group that really knew how to celebrate friends and loved ones in a wholesome way. To have someone who was able to appreciate and make use of the amenities means a lot to us. We like to be able to create an atmosphere that allows loved ones to make memories that will last a life time. To us this is more than a business. This is a ministry. We look forward to housing you again the next time you come to Denver. You are always welcome.

We read reviews from '07.....our experience did NOT match it...we found the property in need of maintance, (inside & out)... in disrepair with the counter bar chairs dangerous to use ...generally dirty (carpet, surfaces, etc.) & furniture that looks inviting in the pictures shabby, limited & uncomfortable. In no picture did we see the heavy caging/mesh over the kitchen window. The small "playground" in the front yard was rusty & the back patio was grungy & the view from there was shabby neighborhood housing, ladders, etc. The neighbors across the alley liked to have loud music & woke us with firecrackers blasting at night. We had taken our daughter, son & husband on what we had hoped would be a great treat ...since they both work & needed a vacation (not having had one in 3 years). This did not work out at this address. be aware before you go..It was a great deal of $$$$ for what it had..... so sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-(
Owner response:I am very confused about this review. I do my own cleaning because I want to insure that everything is thoroughly cleaned between guests whether I stay up all night to do it. This case was no exception. I don't know what "surfaces" was considered dirty. I wipe down every dresser, desk etc. I wipe down the washer and dryer each time. The bathrooms are cleaned and everything polished. I move everything on the counters and clean underneath them. I never skimp or shirk on my cleaning job. It is truly a labor of love. I view the people who stay here as guests staying in my home so to speak. I want them to feel welcomed and cherished by us. Since we live in the same building they are our neighbors and many times feel like family. The carpet in the living room needs to be shampooed because guests have eaten on the couch in the living room with children and have spilled things so there is some dark brown spots on the brown carpet. We have been packed full this summer and haven't had space between to allow for the carpet to dry. I prefer stained carpet to wet carpet personally and since our guests book way in advance and we do legal leases, we can't tell them to come a day later to shampoo the carpets. Many places don't want children in their rentals. When you do take them, you may get some stains on the carpet, but it is so worth it. We love to have families with children come. I love to hear their laughter on the playground. I love to see families reunite and be joyful with their loved ones. We have the high chairs, booster seats, stroller, etc. for children because we love to have them. The guests we had just a day before this group, left me a sweet thank you note about how wonderful the place was. The guests that left the day before that group verbally thanked me before they left and told me how happy they were with the place. As far as the neighbors shooting fireworks, it is almost the fourth of July and a family neighborhood. We are not a gated community or Cherry Creek area. We are a middle class, family neighborhood. We can not control the view of the neighbors things from our patio. Our playground is outside in the weather. You will end up with occassional rust when things are outside. There is also a beautiful huge playground just a block down the street that most guests with children take advantage of. As far as ruining their vacation. All that I can say is this. It is not where you are, but who you are with.

Our son graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and to celebrate the occasion, our family convened in Denver. We needed a place centrally located, where all eight of us could stay and eat a few meals together. This house fit the bill. Although the house is not large, there was plenty of room for all of us to sleep and hang out. At meal time, we were all able to gather around the table. The house was well stocked with all the things we needed to function. My wife likes to pack items she needs but doesn't ever find in these rentals. This trip, she did not need any of her extra items. Everything was provided. It was also great to have a washer and dryer on hand. Between all of us, it was used often. We did have one problem while we were there. We brought the situation to the attention of the owner, and she acted quickly to solve the problem. This house is not a "luxury" class accomodation. However, it is neat, clean, efficient, and affordable. It was better than I expected. If I have the need to return to Denver, I will be contacting this owner again.

It was so nice to come home to a fully equipped kitchen to cook in. The location was perfect we could not have asked for a better place. We are all ready planning our next trip to the house. The woman and her daughter that own the house are sweet as pie. Not only did we have a great place to stay we also made a friendship. See you again soon… The Nutter family
