Aloha and welcome to Hartwell Heaven and the Surf Shack! Get started planning your summer vacation before our calendar fills up!! Possibly one of the most unique, charming, cottage-style, lake homes on Lake Hartwell! Don't take our word for it - please read a few of the 65 positive guest reviews below. Main house comes with a detached carriage house (our super groovy Hawaiian-themed Surf Shack, complete with TIKI BAR, air hockey and foosball). Truly unique!! Perfect for family vacations and celebrations. A covered dock with a 26 ft. slip rests just outside the back door - perfect spot for your boat, or we can help you arrange a pontoon delivery from a nearby marine center - right to our dock. Six minute boat ride to Hartwell Marina for refueling or to get a bite at their weekend grill.
Four-person pedal boat and three person Grumman canoe included in your rental. High-Speed Internet connection. Bring your laptop and check your e-mails after your ski run, from the dock or screened porch! Two exterior decks on either side of the house, and a large screened-in porch overlook the lake - a great way to begin or end the day. Both decks have seating areas, one has a propane grill.
Our quiet, emerald-colored, no-wake cove is perfect for protected swimming and for the avid fisherman. The adjacent cove is large enough for water sports - and stays smooth (the little ones can learn to ski and tube here) when the rest of the lake is choppy! Stone/timber walkway to the dock, new bumpers on the dock, light pole and water supply at dock. Beachy fire pit area with split log seating. Tree swing (make your kids push you!).
MAIN HOUSE - 3BR/2.5BA. Bookshelves in the foyer are stocked with games, puzzles, books, magazines, etc. Spacious master features king bed, walk-in closet, cable TV/DVD, private tiled bathroom with tub/shower) and Company Store bedding.
Two additional bedrooms have connecting full bath (with large shared closet area) and feature queen beds (with designer bedding and hypoallergenic mattress toppers) - both open onto the screened porch with exceptional lake views. Kitchen features ample cabinet space, plenty of tableware, flatware, blender, and microwave.
Family room (lake view) features woodburning "Buck" stove, sleeper sofa and two recliners; sunroom (lake view) features two sofas (one is a sleeper sofa), and two lazy boy recliners -- everyone will have a place to curl up and relax, plus TV with cable, DVD/MP3 player!
Half bath adjacent to the kitchen area. Huge laundry area. The cottage is complete with everything a family needs, and more. Dock is about 50 paces (very gradual grade) from the deck (very close corp line!). Excellent swimming off the dock -- expanded side area with colorful adirondack styled chairs -- plenty of space to bring a cooler down and set up for the day. Very little boat traffic, so the kids stay safe while swimming and you won't get sea sick from the dock moving all day!
THE SURF SHACK - Our Hawaiian-themed detached carriage house sleeps 5 people in beds (3 singles and a full futon). Approx. 700 square feet of heated/air conditioned living space. The surf shack has two levels -- main level has living area with a surfboard-themed futon, a kitchenette featuring an over the top "tiki" bar, sink, mini fridge, microwave/toaster oven; game area has air hockey, foosball, wall mount tv/dvd, loads of cool retro hawaiian touches like vintage posters, mid-century bamboo furniture, carved tikis, surf boards, all of which will have you feeling like you are on the Big Island!!
Upstairs is a Hawaiian themed full tiled bath (lake views) and a very fun sleeping area with three twin beds done in comfy PB Wahine bedding, complete with grass bedskirts. Sleeping area has another TV/DVD, this one with a gaming system. A second story deck off the back of the Surf Shack completes the picture -- perfect to walk out and enjoy the view as you plan your day of fun at the lake (check our the REAL surfboard mounted on the side of the Shack)!

- Ski-In : Drop your skis, or jump from the tube to swim into our cove from the bigger cove right next to it -- great excercise.
- Ski-Out : Kids can start their ski or tube run in the larger cove adjacent to our "no wake" cove -- within viewing distance of grandma and grandpa on the dock!

- Our detached carriage house THE SURF SHACK is a unique spot. Young and young at heart will adore it and find plenty to do when not on the lake. Authentic tiki bar (with complete barware for mixing up the perfect island drink!) Classic Grumman 17 ft. canoe and four person pedal boat included in your rental - great exercise! - Kid Friendly : Your kids will find so much fun and distraction in the Surf Shack that they will NEVER utter the dreaded "I'm bored" while on vacation. Mom and dad will have peace and quiet (even on a rainy afternoon) because the kids will have so much to do and a place of their own. Kids love to dress up in the Hawaiian shirts, leis, hula skirts and beachcomber hats we leave out for them. Great memories are made here!

Why the Owner Chose Hartwell
This location is a 6 minute boat ride to Hartwell Marina, a 2 minute boat ride to one of the few slalom courses on the lake, and less than 10 minutes drive to downtown. We also love the vacationy feel of the lot and positioning of the house from the point, allowing water views from two sides of the house. You are basically surrounding by water!
The Unique Benefits at this House
The tiki bar gives people an excuse to have a luau and even the kids can get into it - frozen virgin pina coladas and leis make every day fun! The grumman canoe is great to explore the coves, and the pedal boat is great for both kids and adults.

We love Lake Hartwell! Spent one too many summers swatting at no see-ums on the beach, covered in sticky salt and sand. Decided this is where we wanted to be! Swimming, wakeboarding, skiing, fishing, we do it all and provide a place where you and yours can come and have all the comforts of home (plus a tiki bar!!) and enjoy the best lake in the country!!!!

Hi, we had 4 adults and 6 children and it was perfect!! Everything was cleaned and neat!! There is so much room in this home and we loved the TIKI...great for kids. The lake is awesome, we had the perfect cove and alot of privacy. Loved this placed!! And Lisa is great to work with!! I can't wait to come again next year.

We just returned home from a week @ Lake Hartwell and really enjoyed the house and surf shack. The house was very "homey" and comfortable - rooms plenty big enough and the surf shack was great for the teenagers! Swimming off the dock was great- cove is QUIET... actually the whole lake was quiet during our stay so we really enjoyed boating and tubing. The guys did a fishing charter one night & caught a good amount of BIG fish that we fileted and ate during the week. Highly recommend renting "Hartwell Heaven & the SURF SHACK"

We are already planning our return to Hartwell Heaven & Surf Shack. Lisa has left no detail undone… from the beautiful decor, lush bedding and fabulous lake views you will not want to leave. I have vacationed in North Georgia for over 15 years and rented many homes through VRBO and this by far was the BEST!!! It is like renting two homes for the price of one, the Surf Shack provides hours of entertainment for the kids in turn giving the adults their own quite time in the main house. You will also be amazed by Lisa’s artistry in the mosaic mirrors and other decor throughout.

I would describe Hartwell Heaven as a perfect place to stay with family and friends. We stayed for a week four adults and five children ages 15-9. The kids loved having their own space in the Surf Shack and the adults enjoyed the peace and quite of the main house. We rented a pontoon boat and enjoyed the beautiful lake. In the afternoons we cooked on the grill and enjoyed the peacefulness of the area. The house has everything you need. Games, books, cooking supplies (pots,pans, ect), wireless internet, TV's, and enough water toys for everyone. Lisa (owner) is really helpful and kind she made our stay perfect. I wish we were there now.

Our family has had several wonderful vacations at Hartwell Heaven and the Surf Shack. The house is charming, with plenty of room for everyone. It is comfortably furnished and has every amenity you could want. We love the fire pit and the beautiful grounds. The unique decor in the surf shack really gives you the feeling of a tropical vacation. Adults and children love it. We highly recommend this house for your vacation.

If you are looking for the perfect place to spend time with family and friends, this IS IT! Our group has now visited 3 times. This is now a tradition for us which we hope to continue moving forward. The home is warm, inviting, spacious, and clean. The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of space in the main house. The "shack" is marvelous for kids of all ages. The property is beautiful and relaxing. Lisa (the owner) and her family are wonderful to work with. Simply cannot say enough positive things - go, you will not be disappointed! On second thought, no don't go.....then it might be booked when we want to go again!

Our whole family had a great time here! Our 3 granddaughters were wild about the surf shack and all of the adults were so pleased with the accommodations, cute decor and comfort.We cooked every night in the great kitchen, fished, swam and sunned on the dock. A great place to stay with lots of different areas to relax outside!

We spent a week here and loved every minute of it. The house was wonderful and the kids all enjoyed the Surf Shack! The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of pillows, blankets and towels. We rented a pontoon for the whole week and the kids all learned to ski. The dock and cove were great for swimming! We will definately be back soon!

We stayed at Hartwell Heaven this past week and we had a wonderful time! The house is very well stocked with every thing we needed. We cooked almost every night and the kitchen was well equipped. We rented a boat from Gordons and the kids all learned to ski! We would recomend this house to anyone looking for some fun and relaxation. The dock was awesome!

My family of four and two grandparents just spent a wonderful week vacation at Hartwell Heaven and Surf Shack! Everything was provided and it was such a comfortable house. Lots of places to lounge around. The lake was great, renting a boat was a great option but not needed since a canoe and paddle boat were included. We all had a great time and hope to return in the future!
