We stayed in unit 603 for 4 weeks (15 Apr - 13 May 2012) and loved it. Condo is beautiful, well furnished and exactly as pictured in all of the photos with gorgeous views, clean, well maintained, and had everything that we needed and more. Having barbeque was a bonus, made dinners quick and easy if we decided to stay at home. The location could not have been better; beautiful beach is just short 2 minutes walk across the street, great restaurants around, grocery shopping, everything that you need for a great vacation. Darryl, the owner made the whole process very smooth and easy. He was available throughout the process to answer any questions I had. We had a couple of small issues that were brought to the owner’s attention upon our arrival, he was very friendly, responsive and very quick to resolve the issue. We were very sorry to leave when out four weeks ended, but look forward to going back again.

We spent 28 glorius days at Mariner Pointe. Darrell & Isabel were so helpful with providing us with the extra things we needed when our family visited with us. The condo is lovely and bright. Having a washer & dryer in the unit was really helpful. The view from the balcony is breathtaking. We enjoyed most of our meals watching boats and dolphins go up and down the intercoastal waters. The beach is within a few minutes walk, shopping in the area is great. We always felt safe when out walking at night. Thanks for a wonderful time!! We will definitely be back!!

Had a great time. Our condo was very welcoming and comfortable, we felt at home very quickly. Everything we needed was there. We enjoyed the beautiful view from the condo and walking down to the pier, it was very quiet, peaceful and relaxing, just what we needed. When we wanted to go to the beach, which was every day, it was just across the road. All stores, restaurants and sites were all easy to get to. Information provided in condo regarding these places sure came in handy. The welcoming binder with information was also very helpful, and knowing that we could contact the owner incase of any problem was a comfort. We met some very nice people who were also renting condos, and everyone was very respectful of not being loud. Our only disappointment was that the pool was not heated, so we were unable to go for a swim, hopefully next time.

As for the pool, I'm sorry if it was too cold for you. It is in fact heated, but we only keep it at 80 degrees in the winter, and that's when the air temperature is above 50 degrees. If the weather is below 50 degrees for more than two days, we lower the thermostat on the pool to 65 degrees, since our heater simply can't keep the pool warm when the air temperature is that cold. I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

Equally well placed for both Golf and Beach

Dear Isabel and Darryl – The promise we gave 2009 in our internet review after our one week's stay at your Gulf Retreat Condo in May, we could fulfill this year and with a stay of 2 ½ weeks. From our first stay we knew what to expect. And really, we were not disappointed. Weather wise it is certainly a difference between spring and fall, also in Florida. The weather forecast for the area was not too brilliant when we left Switzerland, but for the whole stay with the exception of a single day of partially scattered showers weather otherwise was sunny, blue sky, some white clouds and very agreeable water and air temperatures. The beach was as last time, white, clean and never crowded. This time we wanted to split the time between one day golf and one day beach. And we found that Indian Shores is equally well placed for both. We knew that most of the golf clubs in the area would rent golf sets but as we wanted to play on different courses and would not like to have different sets every time we rented the set at an address we found in the internet while still being in Switzerland (Ken's Quality Golf, Clearwater, phone 727 531-8871) and for bargain green fees we found www.teeofftampabay.com to be very valuable. From the restaurants in the area we especially liked "Villa Gallace" and "Salt Rock Grill", but with the very well equipped kitchen and the beautiful and interesting view from our balcony, where we had some of our diners, we sometimes also liked to stay "at home". The new, slightly higher chairs and table on the balcony allowed us an unspoiled view to the waterway where we spotted dolphins and – as we believe – also the movements of manatees. The variety of birds on the sandbank at low tide and in and above the mangrove swamp is amazing; not spoken about the large number of huge fish in the little stream just below the balcony. For us this wildlife was more interesting and much better than any television or cinema program. We really felt at home again as soon as we had opened the key lock box, turned the key and crossed the doorstep. Thank you again, Isabel and Darryl for a wonderful vacation! We certainly hope that we will have other chances to spend holidays in your condo.

We returned a few weeks ago from a lovely week at this rental. The photos do not do it justice - the place is wonderful and seems much bigger than 1400 sq ft. After spending a week in hotels in Orlando the spaciousness was very appreciated by everyone in the family. Everything was as stated, and Darryl was very reachable by phone when we had questions. My daughter was able to catch small fish off the pier, and children 16 and under do not need a license to fish. Very, VERY clean! Thank you!

Our family had a wonderful week in this immaculate and beautifully decorated condo. We found it to be even nicer than we anticipated from the pics displayed. Great views of the water from main rooms and the gulf right across the street. MANY thoughtful touches included (nightlights, drying racks, beach chairs and toys, computer and 3 tv sets) that made packing easier than many beach homes. The stairs were a bit steep, so do consider this factor if is is an issue for you or your guests. (it was fine for us, but tough for my Dad who has some problems with balance) Would highly recommend this property!

Spacious accommodations with all the amenities. My wife and I took our children (7 and 5) for a quiet week at the beach in late fall. The condo was perfect for our needs, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining area and living room. Beautiful view of the waterway and a 500yd stroll to the beach (pulling the cart full of sand toys we found in the garage). We found stores for food and essentials a short drive away. After a fun day at the beach the kids would sleepy soundly in their own bedroom and my wife and I could enjoy a movie without disturbing them, or simply have a quiet drink on the balcony.

This was our first trip to Indian Shores and will definitely not be our last. The description of the location and condo was completely accurate. It's beautiful, spacious and CLEAN. We immediately felt like we were at home upon arriving at the condo. Isabel did an amazing job at decorating the condo to make you feel welcome and cozy. The welcome basket was such a nice surprise and the view was just breathtaking. All of the amenities you needed were there and nothing was missed in this place at all. It's such a close walk to the beach and getting there with that awesome wagon was a plus. My boys loved the beach toys and floaties for the pool. It was nice to know I didn't have to drag all that stuff with me from home. The beach and pool were both awesome! Darryl was extrememly professional and helpful with his suggestions via email before we had arrived. We had the pleasure of meeting him when we left and couldn't thank him enough for a most memorable, enjoyable stay. Darryl and his wife Isabel clearly have their guests' interests at heart and take great care of the condo to keep people coming back for more. We have already recommended your condo to our family and friends as we beleive it is so worth every penny. Thank you again for a great week!

Wow! What a great place, what a great location...

I'll start by saying this was our first visit to the St Pete gulf coast area so had no idea what to expect of the community. All worries were cast aside the second we drove in on Park Blvd and crossed the bridge into Indian Shore and we immediately sensed there was a good balance of sophistication and casualness in the community. Gulf Blvd between the bridge and condo was sparkling clean and lined with places and restaurants we immediately looked forward to visiting. Now to the condo, all I can is, WOW!!! It is beautifully, tastefully, comfortably decorated, and huge. After our long drive it was so nice to be able to stretch out. Our fantastic hosts, Isabel and Glenn, generously left a wonderful welcome basket full of goodies and nice cold bottled water in the fridge, which was a wonderful treat. Five minutes after walking into the condo we were on the large deck off the living area watching a pair of bottlenose dolphins swimming by!!! Absolutely incredible. What a great start to our week here at Gulf Retreat. We spent a fair amount of time throughout the week here on the deck watching dolphin, osprey, and yes, manatee!!! Our two kids just absolutely loved it all. Back to the condo, have I mentioned anything about the bedrooms? The kids (6 and 12) found their room, complete with twin beds and their own small tv, and right next to their own bathroom, which was just great and perfect for the two of them. Now the master bedroom, again with another WOW!!! What a great big beautiful suite with huge windows and access to the deck and more of the fantastic waterview. There was just something so relaxing and restful about the night view with the lights across the water and then waking again to that waterview. Geez, I'm missing it right now that I'm writing this... Thanks Isabel, Thanks Glenn, for letting us stay at your place. Our family really looks forward to visiting again someday, hopefully soon...

This condo was so beautiful. It was also very clean (spotless!!!). The owners took care of everything. We have a baby and they had the highchair ready , safety tub supplies, toys and the crib set up with a diaper by it!! They also had a lovely gift basket waiting for us. The view was spectactular of the bay. The computer was in a perfect spot and all the TV's were great. The beach was so close to the condo and the wagon to pull all the beach toys was perfect. The beach was also beautiful and not overcrowded. You really couldn't ask for anything more in a rental. I would recommend this place to anyone and if I come back to Indian Shores I hope to stay here again. Thanks for a great week!!!

Absolute Gem

Gulf Retreat at Mariner's Pointe is an absolute gem of a vacation spot. The condo is so big, comfy, clean and has everything you need. We were able to settle in right away and head straight to the beach across the street. Darryl and Isabelle have thought of everything so you don't have to. Indian Shores is an ideal place because you feel like the beach is yours. It is a quiet, friendly and beautiful place to relax. You also get the benefit of the intercoastal waters behind the condo where boat traffic and nature can be very entertaining. Some of the highlights of our trip were: swimming in the 89 degree Gulf with dolphins just beyond us, day trips to a Rays game and George Steinbrenner field, breakfast at JD's, drives to St.Pete's and Clearwater, long walks on the beach watching the crabs duck in and out of their tunnels and several good nights of sleep in the comfortable condo. We were so sad to leave such a beautiful place, but we will definately return as soon as we can. I don't even care to look for other destinations or places to stay because I have found an absolute gem!

Doorstep delights!!

Stop! you need look no further if a) you want a glorious beach within yards and b) a quiet, fascinating inland waterway right below your balcony. No. This isn't written by Darryl the owner, but a highly delighted couple of Brits quite taken aback by the location of the condo, its layout, space and quality, and the busy wildlife immediately below. We watched the antics of dolphin, jumping fish, birds of all sizes including spoonbill, heron, egret, birds of prey etc. and the differing ways they stalk their prey. There was never a moment of non-activity in the inland stretch, in a top floor unit which is the closest you get to the open waterway (plus a pier and a swimming pool). And a short hop across a single track road takes you directly onto the beach, quiet because it stretches forever each way. Plus a main bedroom you could swing a tailful of cats around and still have space, windows which are as large as cinemascope-screens and an AppleMac to keep you in touch with everything.There's a carport (with door remote) and with tons of space and equipment for the beach. Pleased? I'll say we were. Miss it and you miss a delight.

This truly is a wonderful Condo with Darryl & Isabel a pleasure to deal with. They thought of absolutely everything. The facilities within the Condo are second to none with every appliance that you could wish for. The property was immaculate throughout. The views from the Living Area and Master Bedroom are breathtaking. It isn't every Condo that gives you the opportunity to watch Dolphins or Manatee whilst laying in bed! The beach is only a very short walk away and has miles and miles of beautiful white sand. Restaurants and shops are also within easy reach. I would definately recommend this Condo and am alreadt planning a return visit!

A home away from home but has a beach and pool!

My family and I stayed at the Gulf Retreat for a week in May and we had a wonderful time! The condo was in great condition, and it had all of the amenities one enjoys at home. My husband even commented that they were better stocked then our kitchen at home with all of the dishes and small appliances. I think one of my favourite parts was the balcony, we could enjoy the wonderful weather, and relax with a beer and some treats while enjoying the boats going past. One recommendation, if you are looking for restaurants go North because the selection and quality of restaurants is superior. Our favourite was Guppies. We spent a lot of time searching the internet to find a good place for our family (Mom, Dad and 22 month old son) and this was worth the effort to find. Save yourself some time and JUST BOOK HERE. The perfect place in Indian Shores

We were impressed by Gulf Retreat #2 the moment we walked in. And the welcome basket was such a nice touch. Spacious, and beautifully furnished, super-clean and comfortable, we found it to be exactly as advertised. The master bedroom and ensuite were an absolute dream with 2 walk-ins. The kitchen was very well-equipped, the kettle and teapot especially appreciated. The view of the coastal waters from both the master bedroom and living-room was marvelous and we spent hours watching the birds from the balcony. Free internet and long-distance calls to US and Canada were an added bonus, which we enjoyed. The owner was readlily available when we tried to reach him for a technical problem, which he was able to solve over the phone. Having rented in Indian Shores on two other occasions, and having run the gammet of availability in the area, I can vouch that it would be very difficult indeed, to find a nicer place at this price. We rented for 2 weeks in March 2010 and were very pleased. Everything we could have possibly needed was provided in the condo. It was clean with beautiful views and a wonderful location - proximity to the gulf beaches, Phillies Spring Training, and many other SW Florida attractions. Our stay at Gulf Retreat was very enjoyable beginning with the basket of goodies welcoming us to this attractive, roomy place. We appreciated the comfortable amenities, especially the well-equipped kitchen. A highlight for us was the great view of the waterway during daytime and at night. We were treated to colorful boat traffic, an occasional dolphin and a variety of birds, including two friendly night herons in the trees below. This was a great refuge from the coolish weather this year and we really look forward to returning next winter.

M thanks to you and your family for letting us live in your condo for 3 weeks.16th Nov-7th Dec. The condo is fully equipped with all that one desires.There is plenty of storage space and the beds are so comfy it is hard to get out of bed in the morning, but you have to get out of bed to enjoy the wonderful views and you may catch a glimpse of the dolphins playing outside your window!! The welcome basket was a wonderful touch and well appreciated after a long flight. We will be coming back to visit you in March as we enjoyed your condo so much....it was hard to leave. What a blissful place you have!! We were thoroughly impressed with the accomodations, in every possible way! We were so relieved to find that the mattresses on all the beds were extremely comfortable, not an afterthought as in many vacation sites. Our favorite parts were watching all the birds and dolphins, enjoying the pool that was NEVER over crowded, and that WONDERFUL!! wagon full of chairs, umbrella, cooler, sand castle toys that you have thoughtfully provided for the short tote to the beach!! Rather than staring at a boring parking lot off the deck or your neighbors window, you have that entertaining waterway with the boating and dolphins; we saw them daily! The kids loved the putt putt and Clearwater rescue aquarium, only 15 mins drive north, and are huge "Winter" dolphin fans now! We also had a great time at Johns Pass village and Boardwalk, 15 mins south, with the restaurants, boat rentals, and ice cream shoppes. Of course, nothing! on the Atlantic coast can begin to compare with the beauty of the water at Clearwater/Indian Shores beaches! We enjoyed the quiet family environment, having an array of restaurants to choose from close by, but within a very short drive to parks and activities! We can't thank you enough for sharing your beautiful place, and plan to make your condo our vacation spot as long as it is available. The Church family

Darryl and Isabel, This is our second stay at your condo. From the moment you walk in you feel right at home. You have everything that somebody would want and need. We love the view of the intercoastal and seeing dolphins swim past. We also love the beach wagon and beach accessories. It really comes in handy to pack everything in the wagon and walk to the beach. Dear Isabel and Darryl - Our week's stay in your Gulf Retreat condo was our third stay in a rental vacation condo during our this year's trip to USA, after Encinitas/San Diego and Palm Desert. Although we were in very nice places there, we were absolutely overwhelmed after entering Mariner's Pointe, Unit 603! From the pictures and the description we had seen on the internet, we expected a lot .... - and what we found was far beyond our expectations. Starting at first glance right away with the marvelous welcome basket, the cleanliness in every corner and respect, the warm and heartfelt decorations, the generosity of the room layout and the availability of storing space. And then, step by step, all the details from the wonderful, fully (and we really mean fully!) equipped kitchen; the high quality of the bedding and the furniture; the free availability of telephone and computer with internet access; from the first aid boxes through to the grills and the "beach stuff" in the spacious garage. Every thinkable item available to really feel 'at home'. Not to speak about the balcony where we took our breakfasts and also some evening meals, with the beautiful view on the waterway and all the wildlife, on the ground and in the air. We also very much enjoyed that the beach was easily to be reached with a few steps over the street, with clean sand and water and not crowded at all. And, last but not least, very good restaurants up and down the Golf Boulevard. Thank you very much Isabel and Darryl, that we could rent this condo from you. It allowed us to spend a marvelous vacation, with the only 'blot' that our itinerary did not allow us to stay any longer ...... We can sincerely recommend your Gulf Retreat condo, which we would consider also as very suitable for a family with children and should we have the chance to spend a vacation in Florida again we will certainly try to find a vacancy in your condo (although it is a long way to get there from Switzerland, where we live). Darryl - Your condo was perfect for our vacation - close to the beach, wonderful views of the intercoastal waterway with its wildlife, and peaceful atmosphere. Your welcome basket upon arrival at 2 am after a day of travel with two teenagers was very much appreciated. Gulf Retreat was well worth the money. It was so nicely decorated and spotless, a great relief when you rent things over the internet. It was very quiet and relaxin. What a wonderful surprise when we opened the door to your condo. Every room was decorated beautifully. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, utensils and dishes. Every thing was clean and neat and a real pleasure to live in for two weeks. I'd say it was fit for a king. The beds were comfortable, and we could not stop enjoying the scenic view from our master bedroom, kitchen and living room windows. In the evening, especially, the lights shone on the water surrounding the condo. Such ambiance! We have paid a lot more for a lot less right in this area. It is very nicely decorated and quite large. The extras provided are wonderful, from the garage to the pool and beach supplies down to the home computer, it was all great. My initital concern was it was accross the street from the beach, however that was not an issue. It was a very short walk and the beach and the wagon you provided made for an easy trip. We were with you ten days and the entire family had a great time. My daughter was thrilled to be able to see her Yankees play at Tropicana field and we all enjoyed Busch Gardens as well as just relaxing around the pool or beach. What a beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable home-away-from-home! The condo had absolutely everything we needed! The floorplan is spacious and perfect. We enjoyed the view from the balcony and the quick access to the beach!
