Missoula condo description
Like an elixir of days past, the vantage will transport you to the golden era of the silver screen, offering a respite from the gorgeous Montana surroundings. Renovated in summer 2012 by a national award winning local architect (also the owner), this unit has been meticulously created as a luxe refuge, whether you're staying for a few days or a month. Honoring the 1921 birth of the Wilma building, the vantage is designed in the Hollywood regency style of the 1920's and 30's.
At 741 square feet, the vantage is a large unit on the southeast corner on the sixth floor. Eight over sized windows provide mountain and river views to the east, south and west. The vantage offers a full kitchen open to a large living and dining room, a bedroom with queen size bed and en suite full bathroom and a 3/4 guest bathroom. In the living room, a queen size sleeper sofa provides additional lodging. From the dining area, a fireplace provides ambiance for the connected living and dining areas. Historic 1920's light fixtures compliment the original terrazzo flooring. Crisp white walls are accented by cherry and black cabinetry and silver velvet curtains. Marble floors and walls adorn the bathrooms (in-floor heat at main bath). Typical to the regency style, African and Asian elements add depth to the experience.
The unit has a combo washer/dryer, portable air conditioning unit, wifi, surround sound, 37' television, blue-ray, ipod docking station. The kitchen is fully equipped. Ironing board, iron, hairdryer and all linens included (down alternative comforters and pillows).
The vantage hints at what life might have been like in the days of Roosevelt, Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Mary Pickford, among others. Enjoy a gimlet as the sun lowers across the valley. Play some jazz. Watch the kingfishers over the river. Be awed by the views--or the vantage--this unit offers. Pause. Relax...Just be in the vantage.

Fall Fun in Missoula!
Fall Fun in Missoula!
We very much enjoyed this property on our recent visit to see our daughter, who is a graduate student. The apartment is beautifully decorated. The location is perfect, easily within walking distance of the downtown area and the university. Everything was very clean upon our arrival, and all instructions were well communicated. We had a great meal at the restaurant downstairs, and lucked out that we were in town for the Montana Brewers Association beer fest, which showcased many of the excellent craft beers produced in Montana. A wide assortment of excellent restaurants are within a few blocks walk. Our visit was punctuated when a bald eagle flew just past the window, as we looked over the park next to the river! Missoula is a great place to visit and this apartment is a wonderful base of operations!

From guest book: May 16, 2013 We loved our stay here while attending our daughter's graduation from the university. The Vantage was perfect for enjoying four wonderful days as a family...so comfortable and relaxing...and also great for entertaining a few close friends to celebrate. We absolutely loved the beautiful décor, the view, fabulous location and all the amenities you've provided. Favorite restaurants included Red Bird, the River Café and Biga Pizza. Many thanks for this amazing place to stay and helping us to have a very memorable time with our daughter! Kathy, Craig & Nick/Lake Oswego, Oregon From email: Hi Chari, We checked out a little before 10 am. I loaded the dishwasher & meant to turn on before leaving, but just realized we forgot to turn it on....sorry. We had a wonderful time with our daughter, and we all loved The Vantage and the fabulous amenities. Angie did an amazing job & thought of every detail. We felt very pampered! Thank you

Four months at The Vantage (Jan. 1 - May 1, 2013)
As I grabbed my last wicker basket full of "bits" from The Vantage, I stood at the door and gave it a "thank you" for its peace and comfort. I appreciate the stay so much. It served me well and it was sad to leave. All is in good order and and I don't have any observations as to what could possibly make it better!!

A Perfect WeekendGuest comment entered by owner
A Perfect Weekend
A perfect weekend "girls trip" for my daughter and me. B said, "Mama, I do NOT feel like I am in Missoula! It's so beautiful in here. It's like the city." After a delicious dinner at Scotty's downstairs, we went for a walk by the river and then came up to The Vantage Boutique for a cozy sleep. Sourdough pancakes (across the river) at the Hob Nob in the a.m., followed by a walk through Missoula shops. That evening was take out from Biga Pizza. Red wine toast with a few friends while we looked at the glittery Missoula lights and the Clark Fork River. Can't wait to stay when it's snowing next time with these big windows. A wonderland. Thank you, Angie, for creating this gem in a building with such history. It's so thoughtfully appointed and was SO peaceful. We felt spoiled. It's a little bit of glam and magic here. xoxo

About the owner: I am a Missoula native who has returned home after practicing architecture in San Francisco, living abroad and traveling extensively around the world. Today, I'm a parnter in an architecture firm in Missoula, working to make my hometown an even better community. My interests are wide ranging from the arts and hand crafted, to local food systems, health and wellness and the exchange of ideas. While doing architectural graduate studies and living in a small hilltown in Italy, I focused my thesis work on how to create experiential spaces through sensual engagement (using the five traditional senses, plus the sixth sense of kinesthetic movement), ultimately to provide a lasting memory in one’s mind. My professional goals are to design spaces that matter, mark time, illustrate art and craft and dance lightly on the earth, all while supporting enjoyment of life. No detail, on any job, is too small to obsess about…and wonder if it is as beautiful as can be. You'll see this obsession in The Vantage. I aspire to make the best use of every square inch both functionally and asthetically so that you'll be seduced by this refuge...and do nothing but enjoy yourself while you stay with us. I'm a yoga devotee, a painter, runner, skier, hiker and baker and cook. And traveler. I designed the unit to meet the comforts that a traveler needs but I also designed it to provide refuge and comfort for long term stays. I hope you'll appreciate the attention to detail as you settle in...and we'd love to see you back again and again.
Why the Owner Chose Missoula:
Like others from Missoula, my family attended multiple functions at Wilma Theater while growing up. I left for college and to experience the rest of the world and returned home to see the Wilma in a different light. It's a gem of a piece of architecture, on the Clark Fork River and at the heart of downtown! When I saw the quality of renovations others were doing in the building, I had to be a part of it...of being a steward of part of this building. I love the experience it can provide visitors both in terms of the building and what it's like to be an urbanite in little Missoula.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
On the sixth floor and in the southeast corner of the building, the views from this unit are virtually unsurpassed. I knew that I could gut the unit, reorganize its layout and dial it in aesthetically and functionally to offer an amazing place to perch above Missoula, yet be in the heart of it.
