The long private drive winds upward through a canopy of live oaks until the stunning Villa bursts into view surrounded first by a necklace of ten acres of terraced world class Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards then manicured lawns, exotic plants and beautiful gardens, highlighted by the sights and sounds of dozens of soaring palms gently swaying with the breeze. The only thing missing from this Italian inspired Villa is the Mediterranean Sea!
The secluded property is surrounded by hundreds of acres of oaks and madrone trees with views of numerous vineyards in all directions. Enjoy your privacy in this oasis of tranquility where not even a single car can be heard in the distance and yet the entrance is just a mile away from world class dining and wineries. The unparalleled location is just the beginning. The estate features a massive seven thousand square foot wine cave filled with exotic art and complete with a game room with championship shuffleboard table, ping pong, air hockey and foosball. Lean up to the cave’s rustic wine barrel bar for a glass of our exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon before sitting down for dinner at the cave’s tables with full time seating for twenty or add more tables for an unforgettable large dinner event.
The prestigious main house features twenty foot high massive beamed ceilings with large skylights and a very large and lavish living room with wood burning fire place. There is a formal dining room, library and media room, a large master suite with an incredible tiled shower room with four shower heads fit for a sultan and two other bedrooms with fantastic views. The recently renovated enormous commercial grade kitchen features dual Viking ranges, dual sinks, dual dishwashers, large Sub-Zero refrigerator and industrial sized outdoor gas grill. There is seating for twelve around a central island plus two window benches and enough production capability to operate a fairly large restaurant. Perfect for the most discriminating gourmet cook in your group or simply pick from our list of renowned local chefs on call* to come and prepare a delectable meal on site. The main house also features a spa facility with huge outdoor ten person sunken hot tub, steam and dry sauna rooms, lounge area where you can enjoy a massage, body treatment or any selection from our full spa menu*. Then stroll over to the exquisitely tiled forty-five foot outdoor *heated saltwater pool and lounging area and enjoy a relaxing swim with wonderful music provided by the multi-zone Sonos system that operates throughout most of the property.
There are several other buildings in the Villa compound that add more bedrooms and ten bathrooms including four spectacular master suites with king sized beds and full bath rooms. All rooms have music systems, Wi-Fi and Satellite television. There is a specially designed and acoustically superior THX twelve plus person theater room complete with Xbox 360 + Kinect, commercial quality pop corn machine, hundreds of movies on DVD and thousands available on demand. There is also a lobby/office area and a well appointed spacious gym with a personal trainer* and Yoga instructors* available. Have the match of your life on our freshly renovated lighted tennis court with views of the San Francisco Bay. From the moment I drove up the driveway, I was awestruck by the beauty of this villa. Where do I begin? We rented this resort for my birthday, inviting 6 other couples, for the weekend last spring. It was spectacular! The photos don't do it justice...you must see it in person. The main house is gorgeous, yet very comfortable, with a very large kitchen fit for entertaining. The views are absoluteley amazing from the porch swing off the kitchen, where we sat & had coffee in the mornings. The upstairs main bedroom is stunning, which is where my husband and I slept. It was nice to fall asleep to the sounds of nature. Our friends were amazed by the gorgeous suites in the other structures, all very private and quiet. But the focal point for us was the pool! Sitting outside in the sun by the pool, looking at expansive vineyards and the beauty of glen ellen....let's just say we didn't want to leave! The wine caves were very cool and would make an excellent space for some type of event. There is a hot tub, tennis courts, bocce court, wet/dry sauna and theater (wow!). There wasn't one thing we were wanting for or missing here. It was a trip of a lifetime. Well, hopefully not as our friends are begging us to rent this treasure again!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Outstanding location, beautiful setting, enormous space and perfect for us! Whether you are a large group/family, this place has plenty of quiet locations to relax - with many balconies, side porches, sitting areas, etc. The wine cave - perfect spot for a dinner and afterwards game night. Pool, saunas, lounging is ideal for warm days. And the theatre....the best place to watch the Giants win!!!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Villa Montebella was a great location for our team's offsite meeting this year. It's close to wineries, and offers some of the nicest views of Glenn Ellen that one could ask for. The kitchen is top-notch and we made great use of the hot tub, saunas and pool. The managment of Villa Montebella was very helpful and extremely easy to work with. I look forward to our next visit.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

I absolutely loved my stay at Vila Montebella. The views from the estate were fabulous and peaceful and the grounds and landscaping quite beautiful. The vineyard circles the property and adds to the beauty. The property is well maintained and had all sorts of things to do that made us not want to even drive down the hill! I consider myself a gourmet cook and loved cooking meals in that gorgeous kitchen! I had many more utensils and top notch appliances than I needed. It's hard to say what I enjoyed most because I loved everything there. We stayed in the main house and particularly enjoyed the large beautifully tiled master suite shower and the tiled salt water pool and jacuzzi. Loved watching videos in the state of the art theatre room with the incredible acoustics. The new tennis court is very nice, as well as the bocce ball court. From wherever we were on the property we enjoyed the non-stop views. The cave is beautifully decorated and would be great for a large party or even a wedding. What a romantic place for a wedding or honeymoon. We'll be back!!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

Grounds are spectacular and extremely private. The five-star features are the kitchen, the theatre room, master suite shower and pool. It is close by to top level wine country eateries. This is a truly wonderful and luxurious estate. I am not sure which was most impressive, the home, the amazing wine cave, the views or the variety of activities available to me and my guests. Personally, the bocce court and wine cave top my list but everyone had a different favorite. I cannot recommend Villa Montebello any higher...The service by the managers was top notch and all expectations were exceeded.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
